Ares, God of War
Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences): As an immortal god, Ares possesses vast strength and endurance. His physical capabilities are superior to those of the majority of Olympian gods. He has virtually inexhaustible stamina, and does not tire appreciably after any exertion. He is stronger than the average Olympian, strength level estimated to being able to lift c. 70 tons.
Like all Olympians, Ares is immortal, possessing a life essence that cannot be ended by any conventional means. He can be wounded in battle, but his godly life force gives him incredible recuperative abilities. He can fully recover from penetration wounds (such as by knife, sword, or bullet) in anywhere from minutes to hours, depending on their severity. Only an injury of such magnitude that it incinerates him or disperses a major portion of his bodily molecules could cause him physical death. Even then, his life essence may still be unharmed, and Zeus may be able to resurrect him. Superhuman strength, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes. He has also been shown to be injured by weapons of magical nature such as Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor.
Ares is a master of hand to hand combat and of all forms of weaponry. He prefers to use melee combat tools such as swords, axes and knives. However, he is proficient with all modern day weaponry too. He also has some low-level magic abilities such as summoning weapons or sensing if magic is being used.
During season one Ares found himself sent to Earth, tasked by Zeus to unearth and stop some unseen threat. He stopped a giant robot Hitler from destroying New York before finding himself in Latveria and assisting the Norse Gods in their quest for the Norn stones.
Following a meeting with the Avengers, Ares found himself battling alongside them against the last Titan, Typhon. After defeating his ancient foe, Ares came to realise that during his absence, his son Alexander had disappeared along with most of the Greek Pantheon.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I plan to continue the story I've set up through season one and help push Ares as the definitive anti-hero. I picked him up because Ares is a great character, a true badass mixing elements of The Punisher with mightier characters like Thor. He has a sordid past as a villain but his current direction has placed him in the unlikely role of Father and Hero. I want to further explore those elements of his character and bring something different to the RPG.

Ares stood upon the cliff looking down at a vast sea of dark shapeless forms. They stretched out as far as the eye could see, dotted with fires here and there, but as imposing a force as the world had ever seen.
A cool breeze swept over from the sea and cooled his grizzled features. The air still sat heavy with the scent of blood and death yet Ares found the lust within him unsatiated. In the existence of Gods such as he, the goings of man were often inconsequential and insignificant. But these past two days Ares had fought alongside lions. Men of great will and iron resolve. As he stood looking out over the enemy he knew that he stood at the epicenter of something truly special. This was a time of heroes and legends and history would written and soldified upon the arid soil under his boots.
They are endless, are they not?
Ares regarded the man who had stepped up to his right shoulder. The famed helm was tucked under arm and the brilliant red cloak wrapped around a bloodied muscular frame, fending off the cool of night.
Nothing is endless King of Sparta. And there is nothing amongst that horde that cannot be felled by blade or bow.
Aye. There's truth in that.
Man and God alike stood in silence for a few minutes surveying the dark stain across the Grecian coast. Each lost in thought of war and family. Life and death.
Do you think we can win this, Lord Ares?
Ares rubbed at his chin and shook his head.
That is a question for which I have no answer, Leonidas. Do you think you can win?
Leonidas sighed and glanced up at the stars.
All I know is that we must do enough. We are but a pebble trying to hold back the ocean. But I also know that we will give them no quarter, we will plunge our spears into Persian hearts so long as there is life in our own. We will be Spartans and do what Spartans do best.
Ares smiled and clapped the Spartan on the shoulder.
Aye King, and tomorrow the God of War stands proud at your shoulder and together we'll whip those dogs into submission.
Leonidas nodded as the cool breeze swept over the cliff top.

(i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): I plan on continuing the story I have begun in season one and establishing Steve Rogers himself, rather than merely his former Steve persona. I chose him because he's a big character with a rich history. This is also a rare and interesting opportunity to write a new chapter and breach new horizons with a major player in the 616 universe.

Steve Rogers stood by the door as the plane made it's way over the French countryside. He made a few last minute checks as he prepared to jump. Today was just a routine mission, something to keep him in minutes he'll parachute down, locate the target and destroy it. Simple.
Steve received the signal from the pilot, indicating they were in the correct position. Pulling back the heavy plane door, Rogers immediately felt the immense air pressure, this was nothing new, he'd jumped countless times. Steadying himself he stepped out and felt the familiar rush as he descended. With impeccable timing Steve released his parachute as the ground rushed up towards him and then landed in a cold, desolate field.
In the distance he could see his target, a small but noticeable bunker, an ammunitions dump for the enemy forces. Just a simple, routine mission tonight, destroy the munitions and eliminate any opposition.
Shedding his parachute, Steve advanced on the target, swiftly but still wary, in case enemy forces were in the vicinity. As he neared he spotted an enemy guard, clearly tired and disinterested in guarding anything. Steve advanced once more and despite no longer carrying his famous shield, he was ready for anything. He stealthily approached the enemy from behind and with one swift, carefully timed movement, knocked the man unconscious with barely a sound.
Dragging the comatose man out of sight, Steve then advanced on the main bunker. The bunker itself was much smaller than Steve had envisioned and didn't seem to have any kind of security measures whatsoever. Steve simply opened the main door and stepped into the darkness.
Scanning the bleak room inside Steve couldn't see anything in the way of ammunition or weapons, only a number of tables, cabinets and a small amount of shredded paper. It seemed like the intelligence report he had received was incorrect, there wasn't anything worth finding here.
Then, Steve heard it, a faint whimper from somewhere near him. Listening closely he heard the noise again, this time following it to it's source. It seemed to come from the other side of the wall. The wall itself was ageing and decrepit, Steve knew he could take it down with the right amount of pressure in the correct place. Finding a nearby chair, Steve brought the metal legs down directly into the wall, shattering a number of the bricks into dust and making a large enough hole for him to squeeze through.
As Steve made his way through the hole he caught sight of someone sitting in a chair on the other side of the dimly lit room. Cautiously making his way over he saw the man in the chair wasn't moving, or even breathing. Cupping the man's chin and tilting his head back slowly Steve got a look at his face, beaten and swollen, like he had been tortured.
What alarmed Steve was the man's naked torso, his skin had turned bright red, and had seemingly endless amounts of tiny puncture marks, like he had been injected over and over again. Lower down there were slash marks, almost surgical incisions but with very little care or accuracy. Worse still, several layers of skin had been removed and tiny, crude mechanical implants had been placed inside the man's skin. Steve had no idea what had been done to this man but it seemed to be far more than torture that had taken place here.
A shuffling noise behind Steve alarmed him as he turned and saw the guard he had knocked out earlier, clearly he had regained consciousness quicker than Steve had expected. The guard's jaw dropped in a mixture of awe and fear as he uttered two words in clear English,
"Super Soldier".
The guard raised his gun but before he could even brush the trigger Steve caught him squarely in the jaw, Steve's vastly superior reflexes allowing him to strike before the guard could act. The guard was sent hurtling backward, his head hitting hard against the wall behind him.
Steve checked him, dead. A rare mistake for the former Captain America. He had not meant to kill him, after all, you can't get answers from a dead man.
Steve moved back over to the man in the chair and was shocked as the man opened his mouth and coughed dark red blood, dribbling down his chin and onto his chest, wincing as the pain ran through his body. Steve looked the man square in the eyes and saw the same look the guard had had when he saw him. The man then managed to splutter the words, barely audible but unmistakeable,
"Super Soldier".
Steve could see the agony on the man's face and knew he could not leave him this way. Steve picked up the guard's gun and slowly took aim at the man's head. The man gradually closed his eyes and Steve could see a very faint glimmer of a smile on his face.
I'm sorry. I'm so sorry Steve whispered as he gently squeezed the trigger.
Rogers didn't know what had gone on in this hellish building, but he knew he couldn't let any of it remain. Whether because of others finding it and benefiting from the evil that took place within it's walls or simply because he felt deep sympathy for the tortured man, Steve knew he had to destroy it.
Arming the explosives he had originally intended to put to use in destroying enemy munitions, Steve left the building and made his way to the rendezvous point. He heard the loud explosion behind him and glanced back. Rogers did not know what had taken place within the building, he wasn't sure if he would ever know. The one thing Steve did know is that he didn't want to see a human being treated in the same way as the tortured man, he had to do all he could in order to prevent the evil that he had witnessed from ever occurring again.
