Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 1

That's not how I read his/her post. I read it as basically saying what I reiterated. Her assumption was logical because such a thing exists in the real world. It wasn't some meta kinda reference or something.

Maybe I misread it then. It was confusing.

Though, in all honesty, I think that scene was actually a writing snafu. I kept waiting for someone to be like, "How do you see out of that thing?" Even that sheer mesh stuff is difficult to see through, especially in the dark, while jumping around fighting. So the assumption that one can see through that? Totally valid. See well? That's another story. I wanted someone to call him out on that.

Except, most people would see it and assume he obviously could see out of it. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to do what he could do. Yes, superpowers exist in the world, but a blind man with super senses who doesn't need to see is sufficiently out there that you probably wouldn't think of it unless you had read a Daredevil comic.

Ya. This is what I was saying. Thank You. It is practically possible to see through the material he was wearing. I didn't think it was that confusing. Sorry if it was.

And I also agree that it may not be the absolute best vision to have/ difficult to see at night but to then straightaway jump to a conclusion that the guy is blind would be reaching to say the least! I'd be thinking "gets job done even with compromised visual field. Damn"!

I feel like people are attributing that to me. I don't know why. I don't think it's logical to assume he's blind because he has cloth wrapped around his face.

I feel like this is pretty good. I think they didn't get to quite make a suit that worked in the first season because it only showed up for 15 min out of the 13 episodes we got. So i feel like what we'll get in the second season will have any issues ironed out and will look closer to the concept art.

I like this and it looks good. Yeah, they should get rid of the black areas, make it a lighter more vibrant shade of red, work on the cowl around the jaw line and the suit would be perfect and still look practical.

Definitely an improvement, but I would prefer a simplication of all the panels and a more organic design (i.e more evocative of human musculature), but basically in the same materials and construction techniques. And yeah, all red, no black.

One thing about the show's suit I really don't like is the pecs - they need to be simpler and smoother.

Love that.

That looks damn cool.

HAHA no. I'm just curious, show of hands please, how many people knew of the black suit before the Netflix series? I didn't nor do I care that it was recycled. In fact, Norek, in a comment above, admits being wrong pre-judging the suit before seeing it in action. It just seems like the suits previous use in an obscure movie is such a minor thing to be going on about.

But seriously, costuming is Dark Raven's thing. Raven is very good at finding pictures and cool looks for the characters. But sometimes he's like a dog that won't let go.

Put your popcorn away.

I actually remember seeing the old Trial of The Incredible Hulk movie with my cousin a week or two before the first photo from the TV show and I remember specifically how much fun we made of Daredevil in that old movie and his black costume. "Man, can you imagine someone doing a costume for a superhero like that nowadays? That would be hilarious!" Aaaaand the joke was on us when we saw that first photo from the Netflix show.... :funny:

But seriously, I hated it at first and couldn't wait for him to get rid of it faster in the series, but the costume was perfect in the show itself and I will definitely miss it. A friend of mine dressed up like that after the show and came into my apartment like that, and I got **** scared at first when I saw him approaching... :funny: :funny:

Why do people have such a problem with the black parts of the suit? :funny:

Does anyone else thinks his "belt" is way to high up?

Because they looked tacked on for no reason. They make it look bulky. They remind me of Shadowland and Fall from Grace (neither of which is a good thing).

BTW, that looks identical to the suit from season one? People who are saying "still too much black," is the suit actually a new version?

The I more I look at it the more I want S2 to have a redesigned suit. Sorry but the red suit really looks...off.

If the purpose is for DD not to get hurt too much and look intimidating, they could just follow the style of Winter Soldier?

Scary and with utility.

Well, it is the season 1 suit. The still photo is from when he's fighting Fisk.

I don't know.
In my mind the fact that his previous suit being entirely black is reason enough for black to be present in the second suit.

Not sure how the black parts could make it look bulky, considering that black is a slimming color.
The material is what's making it look bulky.
Not the color.

One of the issues I think the suit has is that it tries to reflect the aesthetic of the MCU shown in the movies, rather than trying to reflect the tone and aesthetic of the show itself. I want the next suit to feel like it actually belongs in the dark world that the show has created.

OK, then I don't know why everyone keeps commenting on pictures like it shows something new.

Although I will say one reason that last scene felt underwhelming was the lighting. I see making the suit a very dark red, but it came off as purple in the light. I think they'll need to do some more screentests to make sure that doesn't happen again.
