I've been thinking about the "black parts to break things up" thing, and I feel like the idea isn't without merit, it just could have been done better. By keeping the black parts confined to the "joints" on the body or "gaps" between main muscle groups, they could have kept the suit from being a sea of red (though honestly, I don't really see the problem with that), while maintaining overall the appearance of a guy in a red suit.
I drew up a little sketch of what I was thinking of. It is by no means meant to be a full design - mainly just to show where the black bits would be - those are the darker bits.
But as you see from the way I've coloured it, I also had the idea that those darker bits could just be a darker red, instead of black. So the suit would be darkish red and darkER red. I think that could look really cool.
Also, if you can imagine it, the dark bits would be "one layer down" from the brighter bits, if you get my drift, with the red bits being very slightly "raised". As with the existing suit, it would all be 95% fabric, with a few hard elements.
