^Exactly, that's why I expect some logic behind that opinion.

I personally LOVE to see movies, even my gf is studying journalism and musical comedy because she wants to be a critic. We have plenty of discussions about movies, characterizations, themes, etc. And I love that, the same way I love to discuss ideas in this forum.

I usually never rate movies on a scale to one to ten. When friends ask me "On a scale of 1-10, how much would you rate this movie" I always get frustrated, because that's not how I rate movies. I do have a personal list of top 10-20 of my favorite movies, but it has nothing to do with which one of them is a 8 or a 9 or a 10. This thing just doesn't work for me. That's why for example, when I rate movies on IMDb, I rate those I liked with a 10, and those I didn't like, I don't rate at all. Yes, I like some movies better than others, but it all comes down to personal preference, what I like about movies in general, if a movie "clicked" with me, and so on. I'm just not interested in being some kind of judge and giving 5s or 7s or 10s to different movies. Not that there's something wrong with it, but it doesn't work for me and it's not something I care about. I don't like the idea of other people judging my taste for movies based on some numbers.

Then, what's the point of a discussion if not understand and discuss other points of views and opinions, with respect and patience?

There is NOTHING wrong with discussion. If that is what a person is going to do. I am not pointing you out specificly about anything (I don't know a thing about you except the two posts of your I quoted...and that was to use them as a springing off point in the conversation)....I was using your posts to make statement about OPINIONS. For all I know, you may actually be interested in why the other guy thinks the way he does...too many others on here are not.

I did this because too many posts on here are about people saying that the other guy's opinion is wrong...and then trying to change his mind about them. I was trying to show (to the people who are about arguing and not understanding) that trying to change someone's mind about an opinion can be a major up hill battle that most of the time is useless and wastes everyone's time and energy.

If someone is really interested in why someone thinks the way they do, that is great....but i don't see it that often on here.

That's where I feel sorry for critics. Yes they get paid to watch movies and write about them, but they also have a responsibility to sit through a lot of really bad movies and then have to write in detail about those really bad movies. I do not envy them for having that responsibility. If I want to quit on a movie and never see it or mention it ever again, I can do that.
I'm not a critic...but I love movies. I have sat through a lot of bad movies. Sure, I could have turned the DVD player off at any time, but I watch them all the way through anyway. I watch to see if there is anything good in it. There have been terrible movies with one decent actor of special effect that makes you say - at least someone tried. You never know when a gem will show up.

Just to throw a monkey wrench into that...I would give Batman & Robin a 10/10, why? because it's vastly entertaining to me. The rating system is arbitrary from one viewer to the next.
I find it highly enjoyable too. Not everything has to be serious. Being goofy is needed some times to save the sanity.

That's great. You have now shown to me that you are different from so many other posters on here with your mindset. Anytime you want to discuss movies, let me know.

I don't really give numerical rating much either. I also have a hard time with the idea of "What's your favorite movie?" Usually if someone asks that, I have to answer in what genre, or director, or actor, etc......

RDJ and some folks from Marvel rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange today.

I must say, I've seen cosplayers with better Iron Man suits than the one featured here.

I have never not finished a movie. Not sure why. Usually when a film is that bad, there is usually something to enjoy.

I stopped doing the numbers and stars game a long time ago. After awhile you realize you can't even stick to your own rules and it is kinda of pointless and at times frustrating.

I just like watching and discussing movies and at this point I have too many favorites to make any real list. My favorite 10 films list would be close to 40 films long. :funny:

just 50 minutes to go. but not in IMAX, well gonna see it tomorrow again, but then in IMAX. pretty excited after all the talks about the twist and so on.
yeah, watch it in IMAX. I was at the pre-premiere last week at the Apollo and the IMAX was astounding!
That said, I'll watch it again today in about 2 1/2 hours

Believe me, I've seen Catwoman from start to finish.

I also had a hard time with that idea for a while, because I was always lost when someone asked me that. In time though I accepted that my top favorite movies are the ones I can't stop watching over and over again, never get tired of, don't feel I have to skip through parts because they're not on par with other parts, etc. There's quite a few of them really, but there are several movies I just can't see myself without, if that makes any sense.

Even Catwoman?!

I have seen far worse movies then Catwoman. Yeah, I just said that.

Yep, watched it all the way through...twice. There are far worse movies out there than Catwoman.

:funny:

I guess I am too slow.

Heck yes it does.

A rule to live by. When your movie watching, talking and and general enjoyment becomes work, you might be doing it wrong. :cwink:

I don't think that happened to me either. The only instance I couldn't get that thought out of my head (about not finishing the movie) was when I saw Dragonball:Evolution... True there might be worse movies out there and all, but for some reason this movie really, really hurt me, and everytime I'm talking to someone about bad movies, this movie shows up in my mind and I do everything I can to get it out of there.

My brother and I grew up on Dragon Ball. Not just DBZ, but the original Dragon Ball as well. It hurts, but there are just enough "I can't believe they did that" moments, that it makes us laugh just enough to sit through it.

When Goku calls Shenlong. :funny:

Man, let's not talk about that movie... I already did the mistake to bring it up and now I almost regret it. :funny:

Although the way you and your brother had fun with DBE, me and my cousin had with Batman & Robin. Two years ago we decided to watch it, and initially we thought it was a bad, bad idea, but it turned out we never laughed so hard at any comedy film... :funny:

So, B&R has entertainment value to us, but DBE... You know how sometimes when you watch a good movie, you feel good the whole day (or days), without even thinking about it, you're just in a good mood. Well, DBE is one of the few movies that did the opposite. The whole day after, no matter what I did, I just knew in my heart something is not right and I can't fully enjoy anything... :funny: It definitely left a deep scar in me.

The biggest problem I have with Batman and Robin was that they went right back to the camp of the 60's TV series. I appreciated the Burton films because they reflected a lot of the darker material that was being written at the time about Batman. Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, don't seem like they are sequels to Batman '89 and Batman Returns.

It's kind of how I feel about a lot of the Roger Moore Bond films, they don't seem like they are the offspring of Dr. No and From Russia with Love. Craig's films do, even though they were released 45-50 years after those films.

Yep, agree. I've seen some excellant movies that I'm in no hurry to watch again. There are other movies that are considered average that I watch many times a year.

There have been comic book or novels turned into movies that have hurt me too. I finished watching them...some to never watch again (or watch again several decades later).

Wow, at least when The Amazing Spider-Man cast rang the bell, they had the exact same suit used in the movie.

I'm sure they had a practical Mark 42 Armor some where they could've used.

When I try to explain this to others I like to use "Raging Bull" and "Goodfellas". For me, "Raging Bull" might be the perfect film, but it is hard to watch. It stirs emotions in me that I don't really like. So I have probably seen it a half a dozen times. "Goodfellas" is not quite as incredible (still completely awesome though), but has infinitely more watchablity for me. Watch it at least 5 times a year.

Probably the king of "hard to watch but really good movies" is Schindler's List.

I think Daredevil was probably the most disappointed I've ever been with a comic book movie. I think I was disappointed mainly because I saw the potential it had, and they ruined it.

You're a very brave man.....or a masochist. ;)
No....I am a movie watcher. As I said...if people think Catwoman is the worst movie experience they ever had....they haven't watched too many movies.

I have only watched a half dozen or so episodes of any Dragon Ball series...so anything out of continuity wouldn't bother me. I have a copy of the movie, but haven't took time to watch it yet.

I personally like B&R....had no problem with the comdeic aspect of it. But that's just me.

There are a lot more genre only watchers as compared to any movie watchers on here...so it is a hard concept for some to get.

That's exactly the first one that came to my mind.

I certainly agree about the different feel of the movies, but for some reason I can't stand Batman Returns anymore than Schumacher's movies. I guess the movie just taught me that I hate the Penguin.

For me Fantastic Four was a much bigger letdown. It's a good group and it featured one of my three favorite villains, but almost nothing lived up to expectations.
