Age of Ultron The IRON MAN Thread - Robert Downey Jr. Returning!

Jees Ruffalo and Renner are short :D!

In Hollywood, your height doesn't really matter since they can do many things behind the camera to make you seemed taller. Tom Cruise is a short man, but you won't know from watching his movies.

Where did I say their (lack of) height mattered?

Another Charity Buzz-sponsored auction where the winner gets to visit him on the set of a film he’s shooting (currently unannounced), to benefit the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
Last year, RDJ participated in a similar auction that benefited Communities In Schools, an organization that works in high school dropout prevention, and DonorsChoose, which assists public school teachers in classroom projects of their choice.
Most recently, RDJ participated in (and eagerly promoted) an Omaze-sponsored contest that ended up raising $2 million to benefit a children’s hospice organization.
Details HERE.

The auction started today at 10am and will close in 20 days (on May 6).

Some idiot journalist made RDJ get up and leave the interview when he started asking him personal questions. Hes there to promote AOU, not to be interrogated about his personal life.

What a *****e of a reporter. Likely had no interest in the film and more in probably trying to get under a celebrity's skin.

^^ You could tell the jerk was excited about causing trouble. One of those types.

It's the same **** that pissed off Tarantino too.

Yeah i recognized him from the Tarantino interview, why do they let him have a job? Are those web clicks really worth it? >____<

He works for Ch4 news (and has done for years). He's not baiting for webclicks. Honestly I don't get the fanboy need to vilify him or conversely those who belittle RDJ and call him a diva. Tarantino was just characteristically being an ass in his interview and according to the interviewer it was cleared by RDJ's representatives they would talk about his personal life (which he himself has been very public about) as well as the movie. The guy was just doing his job and very clearly gave multiple opportunities for RDJ to stop him. He pressed on. I feel bad for RDJ because he was visibly hurt for whatever reason and he was well within his right to stop the interview, but I don't see the need for some to vilify either of them. It's just pathetic.

Was it noted that he had clearance to talk about RDJ's personal life? Source please.

He mentions it a few times on his twitter feed.

I also found that one funny.

This one I found informative.

Clearly rdj was uncomfortable and he could see that. The smart thing would have been to just stop asking the questions

RDJ did the right thing he just got up and left rather than sit there and take that kinda garbage. The interview was to promote Avengers not talk about RDJ's life and past.

I would've walked out too. Talk about ambushing and betraying trust, and the spirit of the interview.

What a nasty interviewer. Robert handled it like a true gentlemen.

I swear some in this industry would love if he went back to his old vices just so they'd have a stupid story to sell.

Gross.

Exactly! I am a broadcast/film college grad and I took a few journalism interviewing courses. Yes, its sometimes our job to ask the tough questions, but sometimes they don't need to be addressed. RDJ was there to promote the movie and the questions about his personal life weren't relevant to what the interview was about. Now if this was just ordinary interview with RDJ then yea those questions would have been okay. Any good interviewer would have instantly noticed how uncomfortable RDJ was and stop asking those questions and moved to discussions about the movie or whatever.

Sometimes you have to read the room. Downey Jr. was not there to talk about those things. With interview etiquette you shouldn't ambush and make your subject uncomfortable.

If Downey is promoting Avengers, I am not going to ask him how he felt when his son got arrested. For one, I already probably know the answer to that question.

For another, I mean...like god forbid Downey doesn't consider himself "liberal." Or maybe he's changed and does. I didn't know it was a crime. Wow, he expressed once after his past issues that he can't go through what he did and come out of it as a liberal. Like uh oh, Downey went through all that and considers himself a conservative republican now! Get him!

Look, if Downey wrote a tell-all book and autobiography and those stories are in it, then it might be OK to ask those questions. As of now, I am suspicious that Guru-Murthy did clear those things with his PR people. He clearly didn't look very prepared and had a hard time asking him questions.

Agreed. I'm happy RDJ is well, but at what point can somebody stop being reminded of their past and truly be allowed to move on?

Anyway, can't wait to see him as Tony Stark again. He's the best actor in a comic book role, in my opinion.

Because we should take his word for it? It's very clear to me that based on his scatter-brained, conveluded questions about Age of Ultron that he clearly was trying to get to the sensational questions. His motive wasn't an admirable one IMO.

The twitter thread between Downey and the kid is great stuff. You can tell Downey's a good guy. A very unique, quirky guy, but a good one.
