I always roll my eyes when someone says they don't care what people think because that makes me say you definitely do. But with Phoenix I actually believe that.

My favorite Phoenix not giving a crap was at the Oscars when they announced his name as one of the nominees for Best Actor.

Or when he didn't realize he had won Best Actor at Cannes last year.

Phoenix is legitimately crazy but so was Michael Jackson and he’s a genius, too. Looking forward to his take.

I mean... this might work, but it's another example of a movie that no one is asking for. Did anyone have a burning desire for a Joker origin story? I certainly wasn't. Isn't he a little more interesting without a backstory?

At this point, they should be focusing on how to develop Batman's extended universe and how to build off of and improve Leto's Joker, IMO.

The fact that it's basically a character study that Joaquin Phoenix wats to do is why it matters.

I'm interested to see this movie, so yeah I'm asking for it.

Great actor, no question. I'm not in love with the idea of this movie but it does interest me. But this quote:

Nevertheless, the typically tight-lipped actor shrugged off the pressure of tackling such an iconic character. “I could care less,” he said.

Means he can care less. People say this all the time. It should be "I couldn't care less"

Contact his agent and correct him.

It won't get made, so don't worry about it.

Oh, it's SO dark when Joker beat Robin with a crowbar. See how seriously we can take our comics, kids?

The marketing better be more clever than that.

It's an iconic moment in Joker's history and comic book history in general. Why is making a reference to it (particularly in such a fitting way) so horrible ?

Granted I don't think they should go for a poster like that either since I don't think the death of Robin is gonna have anything to do with this film lol

Considering the '80s setting, if they managed to land a Prince track, that would be amazing.

Man I didn’t even think about the potential for 80s songs in this movie. I hope they take advantage of the era. Trying to think of 80s songs that would fit with The Joker...

It would funny to see Joker doing something sadistic while “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” played, but that’d be too reminiscent of Reservoir Dogs.

It might turn out really good. The material certainly has potential.

But was it in the top 10 DC moments that I was hoping to see in theaters? No.. not at all. I don't understand this preoccupation with going backwards. Prequels are boring and almost always a shallow effort for cash. There are plenty of opportunities to use Joker and to do flashbacks of his origin, while still continuing to move forward in this DC movie universe. I just don't get why Joker's origin needs its own exclusive movie at this point in time.

And this option is always on the table. The door to a prequel will always stay open. Why do this now when the main characters are struggling and need development? Sounds like it's being driven by the right people being enthused for the project. That's cool... I just hope this isn't a selfish passion project that will leave the current DC Movie Universe in the dust.

Joaquin always seems drawn to intense character studies and if he finds something interesting about this story then I am definitely more intrigued. Deciding to choose this after an acclaimed role like "You Were Never Really Here" says a lot. That was a great movie. You can also see how he is drawn to dark, tortured characters.

That being said, I am prepared for major changes to Joker since they seem to have that freedom. So there might be a few things that might surprise or might not make fans happy. They've given themselves that leeway and it might make this particular version all the better and make for a great movie, in its own universe.

He couldn't understand all the French! I don't think he knew what was going on.

Here's the video:

It's funny when he apologises about his shoes. He says he doesn't wear leather and his shoes were "sent home on the plane." :funny:
