Justice League The Joss Whedon Thread

I agree that it probably was always going to be Snyder's version of a lighter movie, especially after they had gotten the feedback from BvS and scrapped the 2 film JL arc. People forget that he did make Legends of the Guardians, a kids movie, so it's not like that was something impossible or unheard of.

However, I'm still not sure that I can see where all that extra drama would've come from based on what we know. Steppenwolf's backstory would've perhaps given him a bit more dimension and upgraded him from 1D to 2D. But unless Superman's ressurection originally happened significantly differently, which I'm not convinced of- I still feel that even the movie in its original incarnation absolutely wasted the element with the biggest dramatic potential.

I think they excised a lot of backstory and character development for both Cyborg and Aquaman. Those definitely played a part. I assume stuff from Flash and Superman with their supporting cast were cut as well. Steppenwolf definitely. Also if you take away some of the unnecessary the quips at the end of a serious scene, that changes the mood, so does the score.

I see, thanks. Very curious about his version, as are many I'm sure.

The cinematographer of the film hoping for one, is a big thing, as well as over 75k people have petitioned for it. Many other cast/crew as well.

I think the "smell good" thing was a Snyder part... I don't remember any CGstache/green screen background, anyway.

I really hope we'll find out since I'm really curious who wrote that. :funny:

Sure... you're condemning others of this :

When a few weeks ago you were saying "Oh, Joss has done another miracle! This is his movie now! Can't wait!", but now that the result isn't that good, it's back to being just a Snyder movie and the blame is all on him.

Just stop. It’s never been Joss’ movie. Which is why he didn’t get directing credit. Snyder’s family tragedy with a rumor going around that WB wanted him out regardless. There’s also a reason Whedon wasn’t promoting the film either.

If he was given the project before Snyder put his toxic hands on it, the movie would have been totally different. Snyder set the foundation for JL, it’s a Snyder movie.

I do remember posting a while back that if the movie bombed that people would complain it’s because of Whedon. Saw that coming from a mile away.

It was always the other way around. If bad, it's Snyder's fault, if good, Whedon saved it.

In the end its both guys and WBs fault.

Groundwork was snyder, the Rest is Whedon and WB who had their fingers in there.

Personally i dont like the Snyder bashing or praising.
He has talent for action and visuals but he is no mastermind when it comes to storytelling or character.
Having him do the visuals and style of the DCCU while you get directors that know about storytelling and characters...that could do the DCCU good imo.

A working set of eyes and a half a brain would be enough to know it's not. Again, you're condemning others for the same thing you were doing.

Also, MOS and BVS "bombed" too and I will adore and defend them forever. So there goes your theory that we are apologists and making excuses just because JL didn't turn up good.

Hm, so cast and crew were "adamantly" against those Whedon JL jokes but because people laughed at test screenings WB let those in the movie.

I thought it was very weird and quite disgusting making fun of some strong BvS moments then I realized it's the reshoots. Man, it must be so anger inducing to have to do this kind of stuff when you think it's garbage, dishonor and disservice. "Do you bleed?" says a man to a god, then [BLACKOUT]you have this scary situation where it's used by a crazed and mad god against a man[/BLACKOUT], turned into [BLACKOUT]"ouch, I definitely bleed somewhere"[/BLACKOUT]. F*** this s***.

this would've benefited from a singular vision. hope we can see that directors cut eventually

MOS and SVB didn't bomb IMO. Could they have made more sure but they weren't bombs. But I get that's why you put quotation marks around that word.

Looks like I hit a nerve with my post yesterday, sorry about that.

Could have sworn Snyder’s came came up at the beginning of the movie. Probably just an editing mistake, among many others right?

If calling it a Whedon movie makes you sleep better at night, then by all means. I’m just an MCU loving hypocrite, so what do I know?

MOS and BvS May have bombed, but not to the magnitude that Snyder’s Justice League is bombing. It’s like WB can’t get out of an abusive relationship.

Just like Transformers earlier this year, eventually the GA has enough and stops supporting garbage that Snyder makes.

Neither of those films bombed.

The audience gave the DCEU a chance.

Not anymore.

What a disgustingly rude reply. I’m sorry that talking with respect isn’t possible for you.

It’s 100% true what he’s saying. If JL had satisfied everyone, people would be using it to praise Snyder. But JL isn’t good, so it’s easy to point the finger like Joss came in, took a fabulous 2 and a half hour movie, and butchered it for no reason.

More critically than box office for MOS, and both for BvS I guess. You're right though, people did show up and watched those movies.

It's fine. Not everyone can play nice, thanks man.

People didn't show up for this movie because of the crap show going on BTS and the WB letting all the rumors fly around and doing nothing to stop it or clam their fears. That's why this movie didn't do good IMO and the reshoots didn't help.

That actually goes both ways had Justice League been a big hit people would be praising Joss. There really were not winners in this movie either way you look at it only losers.

Can't help but think Whedon thought he could pull a Rogue One like Gilroy did and then be a public fave, along with Johns&Berg.
You can tell, because remember when Johns said something like "get ready to revise your list", when talking about Superman moments in the DCEU. He said it a month into the reshoots. Those three probably thought they're going to change the world.

Lol.

I imagine Joss writing down for Superman "I like truth and I'm a big fan of justice" which a huge grin on his face thinking about how clever his line is, "Fans love this kind of stuff" etc. :funny:

I rather think ridiculing Whedon and company for their contributions to this cinematic universe, when we also have the unfettered idiocy of Martha and the Knightmare sequence, is somewhat unfair.

The fact is very, very few people creatively involved in this dire ****show come out smelling good, and playing one off against another is an exercise in self deception.
