Justice League The Joss Whedon Thread

I don't know if anything could be so unwatchable that you would consider it unfixable... when the property already interests you and you're given free reign to add and trim. Just as an exercise, I think a lot of folks could be given the average Resident Evil film and find an angle where they think it can be made to “work".

No, they can't. I can't, at least.

Let's not go to far. Even if JL was unwatchable, Snyder still left some amazing sequences. You can bet on that.

I never let a couple of bad lines bother me.

Didn't he say that a source of his had liked an early cut too? Man the guys full of ****.

Also no way Joss did film 50% of the film, I think whats more likely is Joss came into production much earlier and did some writing for Zack while he was still shooting.

the rumor is whedon redo 30-35 % of fim.50% sounds like bs.

If Whedon rewrote over a third of this movie then we can just go ahead and reasonably assume that it was in poor shape before he got to it. Whether or not he saved it has yet to be seen, but I highly doubt it's going to be a coherent, satisfying experience.

Not the biggest JW fan but there's a chance we can get the best of his writing without the worst parts of it because the situation would force him to use some restraint.

This is my biggest hope for the whole situation.

I have to laugh at the DCEU fans who complain about Whedon's dialogue on the Avengers movies. There was plenty of clunky dialogue in BvS and Suicide Squad but I guess that's fine with them.

I don't remember anyone here praising dialogue in Suicide Squad.

I don't think we will see much of it in JL but it will be interesting to see what kind of aesthetic Whedon brings to DC characters with Batgirl.

Does anybody know if they're still doing reshoots?

Some of the actresses playing the Amazons are headed back to Italy but keep in mind that Aquaman is also filming there too. If they're just doing general dialogue scenes, it won't take long for them to shoot, edit and cut into the final film.

Mark Hughes says that he heard that "roughly close to two dozen pages of additional material and rewrites" was conducted and that some scenes and characters were dropped out of the film due to the changes and rewrites.

It's possible that supporting characters like Iris and Barry's dad are cut from the film, but we won't know until the film premieres.

Connor Film's periscope on what was changed, condensed text from reddit

Things he said were CUT from Zack's cut: 1) Deathstroke breaking out Lex 2) Bruce and Diana visiting Lex for information on Steppenwolf where Batman breaks Lex's fingers.3) Iris stuff 4) Ray Fisher Cyborg scenes as he was the HEART of the film before Whedon 5) Lois investigating Star Labs

Geoff Johns and WB hired Whedon, not Zack

Ray Fisher was protesting against Whedon when he wore "I??ZS" shirt because Whedon removed his scenes. His role was condensed from "the Heart".

Gal Gadot was unaware that she was reacting for Flash falling on her boobs. Her body double was used for that face plant bit.

Only 3 Snyder Superman scenes were left: 1) At the end of the film on farm where Bruce? and Clark talk about how Bruce got the house back from the bank 2) Superman and League confrontation 3) Half of the Superman farm scene. Other half with greenscreen and quips were from Whedon

The cast was against Whedon's changes. But at the test screening atleast, the audience responded to his humour and quips so they were kept

How sure is this? 2nd is the film's best scene and 1 was a great scene that got a big laugh from my audience

It's Connor, he's an actual journalist (for Washington Post) so i'd imagine he does have some insider friends.

I'd put him above random guys on r/dceuleaks or 4chan

Well that's good because I'm spreading this info all over twitter.

I see a lot of sympathy for Zack. Unlike 'critics' people seem to know WB and Whedon are to blame for what was released

Really don’t understand how anyone can judge Joss by this movie. He came in to clean up, it’s not his movie, it’s Snyder’s. He helped out in WB’s time of need, but it’s in no way a Joss movie.

The 3 Snyder Superman scenes were also the best in my book.
"But at the test screening atleast, the audience responded to his humour and quips so they were kept " This makes me really angry. A few laughs en ooows, don't make a grat movie. They're cheap tricks.

Whedon redid almost all Superman scenes only 4 months before it's release. Cavil wore a mustache and because of that the CGI budget was shot and quipped with a brutal time limit. And frankly to me, most added Superman scenes were ********. (The cellphone footage and his first outing again as Sueprman) Als the woman on TV scene added absolutely zero...Whedon and WB killed the movie, almost with intent.

And Snyder picked him:
“Zack sought out Joss,” explains Affleck, “And wanted him to be the guy to finish the movie when he wasn’t able to. They definitely worked together to do something kind of special.”
But that isn't going to matter; people have already convinced themselves that Whedon deserves all the blame for the final product.

I'll bet that by next week they'll be claiming that Whedon deliberately sabotaged it to make Avengers look good.

I don't believe Affleck. At all.
