Justice League The Justice League Casting Thread - Part 7

Howerton as Guy works. I could see any of the guy leads on Sunny (except DeVito) as Guy

Oh and Corey Burton is so perfect for cgi Brainiac. They could go ahead and get Ironside for Darkseid too

The Flash:
I'd like to see Flash be the funny one like he was on the JL cartoon, so an actor with good comedic timing would be key. Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be great. Aaron Paul too.

I agree with the characterization you'd like to see, but I'd go with Neil Patrick Harris for the role.

I just believe he could really do justice (no pun intended) to a wisecracking, animated universe type Flash.

I can see NPH as the Flash easier than I can see Aaron Paul. And I LOVE Aaron Paul. I just have a lot of trouble picturing him in the role. I can't see him as Barry AT ALL. I can maybe see him as Wally, but even that's a bit of a stretch to me.

Obviously, I'd have Cavill and Affleck return as Superman and Batman, respectively. Unless Affleck is bad as Batman, which would shock me.

Wonder Woman is a bit difficult to cast. Jaimie Alexander would be perfect for the role in my opinion, but she is already playing a similar character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I'd be surprised if she jumped ship while still under contract with Marvel, even if Sif does have a minor role in the franchise. My three other picks for Diana are (in no particular order) Gemma Arterton, Adrianne Palicki, and Olivia Wilde. Palicki was the only great thing in that poor WW pilot, and she should get another shot at the role. Arterton is an overused name, but her exotic looks and action movie resume make her an ideal candidate. Wilde needs a big franchise role (beyond Tron), and she's interested in Wonder Woman.

As for Green Lantern, I'd introduce John Stewart first before bringing back Hal Jordan. My two picks for the former are David Oyelowo and (you guessed it) Idris Elba. Oyelowo list an up and coming actor who I'd love to see in a superhero movie. Elba, while also under contract with Marvel, still wants to play an actual superhero. Plus, he recently expressed interest in the John Stewart role. If they go with Hal again, I would consider Zachary Levi. Like Elba, he is signed to Marvel, but both have such minor roles that they could easily branch out into bigger characters in the future. If not Levi, I've recently thought about Emile Hirsch for Hal, though I'm not completely sold on the idea. Too bad Nathan Fillion's too old now.

If Grant Gustin impresses as Barry Allen on Arrow and they do decide to merge it with the DCCU, I'd be happy with him playing Flash in an eventual Justice League film. If the two are in fact separate, I have two other options: Chris Pine and Scott Porter. They look just like Barry in the comics, and are both in their early 30s. However, Pine may be too busy by the time Flash/JL come around (possibly due or another Star Trek sequel and/or Jack Ryan sequels, if the latter is a success). Porter, meanwhile, is a big comic book fan and is interested in this role.

I would cast Benedict Cumberbatch as Martian Manhunter. He is an actor who needs a superhero role at some point, and MM is an underrated hero that Cumberbatch would fit well. I'm not big on the idea of Cyborg in a JL movie, but if he is, Michael B. Jordan is the man for the job (even though he's probably playing Human Torch). Finally, I would consider Alexander Skarsgard, Armie Hammer, and Joel Kinnaman for Aquaman, who is another difficult character to cast properly.

I still hate the idea of Batfleck....I know, I know I'll just have to deal, but I still think they missed a huge opportunity by not going with Anson Mount....he is batman on hell on wheels!

Cyborg will most likely be in this though.

Timberlake as Flash? Hell no.

Oh and Jai Courtney can't act for ****.

Cyborg's a teen titan

Not in the current New 52 continuity.

Timberlake has done some good work on screen and I think he'd be great as The Flash. As for Jai Courtney. I'm not sure what you've seen him in that you've got such a low opinion of him as an actor but he was awesome in Spartacus.

In the end everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mine is based on my time reading these characters and watching every incarnation imaginable, as they've changed, grown and evolved over the past thirty-six years. I guess we all have something different we identify with as their core qualities.

So that being said "hell no" is a tad imperious of a reply. Especially without a reason or explanation as to why it is "so wrong."

Jai Courtney was a lot of fun in Jack Reacher, but he looks a bit like a buffed up Michael Rosenbaum.

he was okay in that, I couldn;t stand him in A Good day to Die Hard. I tought that whole movie sucked, though.

There was also a point where Superman and Batman weren't founders of the League. Cyborg never had much of a personality until the tv show in fact, i'd rather we get John Stewart as the Green Lantern than force a black character who belong to another team's foundation into the movie.

Not to mention that you now have to shoehorn an entirelly new explanation for this guy who's half robot, when with Martian Manhunter you only need to know that he's an alien.
