The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 5

Considering the most vocal voices supporting this film seem to be X-Fans who are convinced the last couple X-Films were some sort of cinematic masterpieces, I find it hard to believe that there weren't similar sycophants supporting those films during production.

But that also doesn't address the huge differences in attitude from the studio regarding this film and the X-Films or the inexperienced writer or the UFF basis etc. etc. etc.

did anyone see the Kate Mara ign interview where she admits she has no idea really whats happening with the film. Knows little about the characters, says the film is going a completely different direction than what anyone views the character as... and admits she finds it odd she really still knows little about the film shes filming?

Seriously now. What kinda film does this. Were they not handed scripts???

If that interview doesn't embarrass the people who support this garbage and Fox, then nothing will. That just goes to show you they have no plans of making this thing and want Disney to buy the rights back. Disney's lawyers have to be foaming at the mouth because this is a smoking gun. These guys have been "filming" for a month now but even the stars have no clue what is going on.

To know what's going on, you'd have to have actually been present on set... and actually filming.

Ive seen photos of her on set outside of the Louisiana studio... but other than that the greater concern isnt if she is on set or not... its the fact she obviously hadnt read a script.. scripts dont arrive the day you arrive on set. And if she had a casting session surely they would have told her what to expect on the relationships she has with the other actors. Something Kate is obviously been left in the dark about.

Given that the filmmakers haven't let her know what her character is, I can't imagine her performance is going to be very good. And if she doesn't know, it makes you wonder about the other actors.

This film is a disaster in the making.

I have a feeling a good chunk of this film will use the teen/pre-teen versions of the characters, so that reduces the time the main actors will be on set . . . And will result in a film that few FF fans will want to see.:whatever:

As Comic Con is full of surprises, I would be the happiest person in the world if Feige got up there after showing Marvel's palette and then suddenly, one last clip, is a giant 4 that is ignited on fire, with rocks, invisibility, and stretching...then the audience explodes with happiness...

Yeah, I think the chances of that are pretty slim at this point.

. . . but I still buy lottery tickets. Slim hope is still hope.

Those fools. They're treating her like she's invisible. :argh:

That's even worse. The "adult" versions of the FF will only show up at the end of the movie. So not only are the "official" cast already too young, but they'll probably use a Power Pack version for most of the film instead.

Someone will ask "is that supposed to be Franklin Richards?" to which another reply, "no, that's Reed."

Noone cared about X-Men: First Class or Planet of the Apes, but here we are with both having received sequels and the X-Men sequel being a massive hit to critics, fans and box office.

So nothing to be worried about FF right now.

...........Do people even bother to do research before they comment?

Please don't confuse distribution with actual production people ...X-men's Shuler-Donner and Planet of the Apes Dune Entertainment have nothing to with that reboot.

It doesn't look like Trank, Kinberg or Vaughne do either.

Which is exactly why all of these "But they're making good movies now!" retorts are bunk.

Exactly. Fox made two sweet X-movies before dropping two FF bombs. They've never been interested in giving the Four their best.

I would be so happy too... but, being realistic, the chance to have a Fantastic Four news in the 2014 Comic Con is pretty slim to none.

Alas, I don't think we will learn anything about the right issue since the middle / end of 2015 (When Fox will need to release the fantasticrap on theater or loose the rights)

And, if they release it, we may need many month of (successful, which may noty be the case) discussion after the theatrical bomb for maybe having Marvel having back the rights (or Fox will simply wait another 7 years and make another crap to keep the rights)

That being said I would love it so much to be true, but I'm realistic

They at least seemed like they made an honest effort with the other two though. It didn't work out, but they tried. I'm not getting that with the reboot.

I always thought the first FF film in 2005 was decent for an origin flick. My biggest gripe in that film was Doom and Mr Fantastic but it was enjoyable for the first big screen adaptation. I remember thinking now that they set up the four and Doom we would get the real juicy stuff in the sequel. That's where they went completely off the rails for me. But yeah, the first one could have been much better.

honestly, i thought the sequel felt much more like the comic than the first film did. Both equally horrible. but the second i felt was much closer to source material

All the sequel needed to do was get Galactus right and I would have been more than happy with it. Giving us that stupid cloud was not only a c*** tease but it was insulting and reeked of "we don't know how to handle creating a giant guy in a purple helmet and we wasted our CGI budget on Silver Surfer so....cloud it is!"

Apocalypse worries me if what we got in DOFP is what we get. fox for some reason is afraid of the big comic book bad guys so they nerf them badly

I think a good director could have started with both scripts, made Doom more like real Doom and Reed more like real Reed. Shorten the second acts of both and make a more direct, clear and meaningful path from the second to third acts, add some intensity, drama and foreboding, and both films could have been a lot better.

But it was more than just that. In the end, the only thing that drove Galactus off was the Surfer. The Fantastic Four were made marginal players in their own movie.

Theoretically... any 1950's era scientist could have served to figure out the Surfer's connection to his board and disrupted that. The scientist's girlfriend would teach the Surfer humanity and the Surfer goes off to save the Earth.

No need for the FF to do that. Their involvement plus Doom stealing the Surfer's power was little more than distraction.

I think the purpose of having a film centered around super heroes is to have the super heroes solve the overall problem in a way that only the super heroes are able to do.

If you go back to the first movie - the bridge incident is caused by a reaction to Ben. The final battle is Doom trying to take out the FF - not take over the city/country/world. The FF is largely the cause of their own misfortune, and there's nothing particularly heroic about cleaning up your own messes.

Marvel looks to knock it out the park with Thanos. Fox better get this right with Apocalypse. It looks like they will get him in a major role first with Xmen coming out in 2016 before Thanos unleashes his wrath in Avengers 3. They better not waste this golden opportunity.

the fact FOX didn't even put Apoc's trade mark lines on his young face has me worried for their interpretations of the character

I don't think you have to worry about that. You have to remember that the scene took place in ancient Egypt. When he was still young and growing up. The next film takes place in the 1980's, I'm sure there will be an adult actor in the role.

How shocking would it be if the trailer for this FF film actually looks good.
