The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 9

you know... i could totally see Jennifer Lopez play White Tiger or Tigra. And she'd probably be fantastic in the roles.

I also wouldn't mind the racial fudge-ing and have her play Jessica Drew either.

Personally, while I have lost interest in all of Fox's superhero movies, I think she would make a great Dazzler.

Definitely not J-Lo. I actually would want a Disney/Marvel made Dazzler movie done as a musical. Not only would the genre suit the character, but would be quite distinct from any other comic book movie. And Disney could get one of their young actresses in the part rather than an older one like J-Lo.

I'd want someone either like Bridgit Mendler:

bridgit-mendler-6.jpg

or if they were going a little older, someone like Ashley Tisdale:

Both are singers and actresses with a connection with Disney. Ashley's a little more known than Bridgit but both would be great in the part. I suppose there's always Dove Cameron, but I'm not really fond of her.

It could be the very musical movie that Marvel originally wanted to make all those years ago when Dazzler was first created.

Unfortunately I don't think we'll be getting a Dazzler movie anytime soon with Fox, and certainly not a musical as they wouldn't have the vision for it.

all "eh" choices for dazzler. but, she would indeed have to be younger. and someone who can sing

Well you'd need to get someone who is a legitimate singer so that they could have an accompanying soundtrack. But you can't have someone who is primarily a singer with little acting ability (eg Britney Spears, Taylor Swift) because such a movie wouldn't be just purely a musical but would still have to be a superhero film and would develop her character as well. And you don't want someone like Lindsay Lohan, because she looks like she's about 40.

The only other person I can think of is Hilary Duff

She's another singer and ex Disney actress. Such a musical would have to appeal to that crowd as well.

If only Marvel could get the rights back for Dazzler. :argh:

id honestly say... taylor swift is easily a better actress than miss duff.. just sayin.

I haven't seen Taylor Swift acting much except for an episode of CSI where she died.

Actually Taylor Swift has not done too bad in the bits of acting she has done. Hell, she could do as good of a job as Hilary Duff....she isn't exactly Golden Globe material herself.

Swift has done comedy (Valentine's Day) and dramatic (The Giver).... she was fine in both, she has wicked comedic timing.

Well if she's decent at acting, I'd say she would actually be the best choice for a Marvel/Disney-produced Dazzler because she's already a big music star and would bring in the crowds even on the strength of her name alone (and because people would want to see her singing in the film). Plus she could release a chart topping Dazzler soundtrack album.

:csad: If only Marvel had this property. Imagine the possibilities.

I don't know anything about Dazzler, is she like 6ft taller than everyone else? lol

I remember smiling when the joke rumor of Lady Gaga being Dazzler went around for half a minute. That would bring in fans, lol.

I'd like a Dazzler movie, but I couldn't tell you who could play her.

Daz would actually make a great TV series. It's original concept seemed more in line with a soap opera than a big budget movie.

Dazzler could be cool, alot of different themes to play with there that have not been done yet with celebrities and pop culture. Probably shouldn't cast a well known pop star as Dazzler unless she does a bond type intro for Deadpool or something though. That way you can play on the joke so it's not distracting to the film. Otherwise acting talent should come first.

I don't get that joke or reference. Why would you say that? She was taller than others when she was on rollerskates, which used to be one of her trademark features.

Anyway, Dazzler was created in the 1970s specifically to be a movie character in a disco musical spectacular, and the comic was to be written as a tie in by Marvel. Can't remember if there was to be an album as well. However, the movie never materialised, and Marvel decided to just incorporate the character into their universe and showed up in the X-Men later on as well as her own comic book series.

If Marvel/Disney had the character, then they could do wonders with her. High School Musical has already been extremely popular, and the whole musical aspect ties in so strongly with Dazzler's character. It would be the chance to branch into a different genre yet again and also release an accompanying soundtrack album which could be huge. It's not like Fox are ever likely to ever use her in an X-Men movie and even if they did, it probably wouldn't be using her to her full potential. She's probably just end up having a minor scene only showing off her light/sound mutant abilities but not much else.

Because Taylor Swift is a giant....lol

Is she? :wow: I never knew that. If she's on roller skates (which has to make an appearance) she would tower over everyone.

That would probably cause problems for her male co stars if she did ever play Dazzler. And if she somehow ended up in the MCU, then she'd be taller than most of the male heroes. That could probably preclude her from playing Dazzler but I suppose they could work around that if they really wanted her.

But most of Taylor's songs are more singer-songwriter, slightly country influenced. Yes, there are songs like Shake it Out, but I've always imagined Dazzler more in the pop/dance/disco influenced musical genre.

Never thought about that. Your right, that would sell to the young Disney demo pretty heavily.

We all know the best incarnation of the Fantastic Four comes from Arrested Development.

Thats because it was also pretty much Jem and the Holograms

If Dazzler gets a good movie before FF does, I think I'm going to end up curled up in corner mumbling to myself.

Dazzler probably won't get a movie at all because Fox don't make use of all the characters they have who are enough to be a full universe as broad as Marvel's and have multiple crossover films instead of trying to crossover with the FF who don't make sense and simply wouldn't fit.

But we're not likely to get a good FF movie anytime soon either.

If I were in charge of Fox I would have made a Dazzler musical movie as described above because that would actually be different instead of trying to make a grounded and gritty found footage FF film.

Too bad Marvel couldn't corner that market of Saturday morning cartoons having predated Jem by 5 years. Who knows, Dazzler could've been the key to saving them from near bankruptcy and selling their film rights several years later. ;)

Taylor's about the same height as Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman, so tall but not unworkably so.

Fox have properties like the aforementioned Dazzler, as well as Deadpool and Gambit (both of which are meant to be getting movies), X-Force, X-Factor (where's Simon Cowell as the villain?), and lot of individual X-Men characters they could develop if they spent more time on them than making it all about Wolverine.

There's no need to put these to one side and try to develop FF when they're no good at it, and then try to force a crossover which just wouldn't work.

It would be like DC/WB having all their whole DC universe characters at their disposal but somehow also owning the rights to a Marvel character, and then trying to develop that instead of all their other DC characters other than Batman and Superman.

Taylor's about the same height as Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman, so tall but not unworkably so.

If that's the case then she should be fine. And even on roller skates, everyone expects that person to tower over everyone else.

lol...."Shake It Off"....and her new album is ALL POP, NO COUNTRY....

Damn. She's abandoning her roots. If you listened to her songs in a few years time, her earlier stuff would probably sound like her more mature material.

No comments on the leaked logo and plot details? (not sure if I can repost the supposed logo)

Intriguing bit about some mistery love story...

Hello all!

My name is...well, you can refer to me as Mr. Blue if you wish.

I'm an employee at 20th Century Fox, and I usually specialize in editing. I help make rough cuts of movies before they get sent off for finalization. Anyway, a few months ago I was contacted to work on the 2nd rough cut for Fox's Fantastic Four movie. I was pretty excited because I'm a big fan of the characters, and even though the movie didn't sound great... I was still looking forward to seeing it.

The movie itself wasn't all bad - it feels like Chronicle 2, which isn't a bad thing. It manages to keep the basis of the characters despite the race change for Johnny and the uh... original love story between two of the characters (I won't mention who). Since I'm a fan, I decided to take a picture of the logo shown during the end credits for the fans. If this were any other scenario, I would have used a screenshot... however they trace our computers at work, so I had to be sneaky and use my cell phone.

I hope you like this small glimpse of the movie, and I will try to leak more info for y'all in the future. :)

Any info you can share on Domaschev?

He's an internet blogger and a programmer who works for Dr. Storm at the Baxter Institute. However, after he gets his powers he becomes closer to the classic 616 Doom in personality. There are many hints towards him becoming ruler of Latveria in the future.

Is his look from the leaked set photos basically what he looks like in the movie?

There are many hints towards him becoming ruler of Latveria in the future.

Pretty much. There's gonna be some CG enhancements, obviously. But it's more or less the same.

Towards the end of the movie, he tells the Four that he can do "good" with his power and help his homeland.
