It depends for me on how much of a role The Joker was supposed to have in the third movie. If it was just like a cameo or not much more, they might as well just omit it instead of going through all the casting and controversy of trying to find someone to replace Ledger, but if he was intended to be a prominent character again who figured significantly into the plot, then I think they should go ahead and film their complete three movie story the way it was intended. Yes Ledger's death was a blow to the movies, that's undeniable, but as the saying goes "the show must go on". I don't think that's a cold or callous thing to say, it's just the way it goes, and if Ledger was as professional and committed as everyone says he was, I think he would agree.
