The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

Folks get used to it they should not Recast. From what I've seen so far Heath did a wonderful job as the Joker it should not be ruined by a recast. I know you people want the Joker to be in the next movie but the fact that Heath can't come back to play him means that they shouldn't recast and focus on a diffrent Villian even if it's the Riddler.

It's ridiculous to say recasting is disrespectful, it's just a bloody film role

its not a matter of that. if the film makers want to put joker in another film there is no other option but a recast. As much as we may hate it, it truly isnt up to us

I finally made that second Joker shirt i had planned for TDK. The one on the left was the first one i did and a test to see how it would turn out. The one on the right is the one i did today and will be wearing to the premiere! :D

Nice. I want one !

as nice as it would have been to have the joker in the third film, likely in a small role, now that Heath is gone they should just take it another way. there are plenty of villains, and given what takes place in this movie, I don't see a whole lot of 'new' things they could do with the Joker.

no we're simply making suggestions for if there is a re=cast

exactly

-Im against a re-cast for various reasons

If joker has to be included in the movie I would prefer a small but important role if that were the case id be happy.

either that or some1 amazing like depp or ddl(too old tho) to take on the role.

thee lies the problem

Get used to it? To what? To your opinion? I want Joker in BB3 and you don't want a non-Heath Joker. That's fine, but let's not start saying peple to get used to anything that's not a fact (and even if it was a fact, that would just be plain rudeness).

I want the Joker in BB3, however I don't want a recast. Keep the Joker in the shadows or bring back the grumpy mask, maybe even bombs with cards everywhere. The movie could have batman trying to find the location of the joker but the main meat of the movie would be about gordon and his crime unit trying to handle the new freaks of Gotham.

What's the point of bringing Joker back if he doesn't utter lines and you can't even see him?

I'm sick and tired of people talking **** about Depp. Really, haven't you people learned YET not to judge an actor by his looks and his fame? Depp has the acting skills.

i AM judgin his acting skills. he's been playingthe same character in different costumes for three years now. He's in every single damnmove that comes out and he is in no way on this earth possible,to play a good joker

I have nothing against Depp or a majority of the films he has made, however Im personally against the idea of him as the Joker. Reason being is that I can already imagine how he would play him, there is no mystery there. Im sure of all of us can imagine it to some degree. The great thing about Heath is that we had NO clue what it would be like, what he would come up with. Depps joker to me would just be an extension of Sweeney Todd/Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and some Jack Sparrow gurning thrown in for good measure, he would lean to much on the comedic side of the character, playing insane for (too many) laughs.
Depps a great impressionist and very charasmatic on screen, I love Fear and Loathing and Dead Man, but as an actor the Joker is far beyond his capabilities (in my humble opinion). Also i think the bigger the star you get to fill this role - the more 'in tribute' to Heaths performance it becomes. Let some hungry unknown get his teeth into it and tear the rulebook up as Heath did.

Oh, please. Are you trying to tell me he was Captain Jack sparrow in Sweeny Todd? Have your eyes cleaned.

yeah actually i am. my eyes are fine but my ears are telling m its jack sparrow as a serial kill barber. dont get me wrong i really like depp, but in my honest opinion he should go into hiding for a while and get himself straight, and if the opportunity ever does come to him in the future at anytime to play the joker he should pass it up because he simply cannot do it,or at least not do it at a level that we are getting now

I agree about Secret Window - great film - but how can you not like Capt. Jack?

Imagine a Capt. Joker Sparrow. Now that would be awesomeness.

'Why is all the bazookas gone?'

Yarr. Let's put a SMILE on that face, matey!

What exactly is that "level"? The means of inhibiting yourself completely into the role, so much so that your true self is lost in the new persona? Uhm.....Depp practically perfected that years ago. Of the current generation, he's one of the most noted method actors.

From Edward Scissorhands, to Dead Man, to Fear and Loathing, to Blow, to Donnie Brasco, to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to Pirates. This guy has created a plethora of individual characters that have distinct personalities.

You'd be hard-pressed to find actors today that surpass or even match his range, if you compare their filmographies. I'm befuddled at out of ALL the actors in Hollywood, Depp is actually being criticized for his talent?! Words nearly escape me. My head hurts trying to make sense of it all. :funny:

It's sad that Heath didn't get to fully stretch his talents to what would have undoubtedly been a successful career, but him and Depp are cut from the very same cloth. These 2 clearly put hard work into their roles to make it as distinct from their previous roles, as much as possible. Obviously, not every role is gonna have the same level of hardship and dedication. You're bound to hit similar notes, such as the case with Depp in Scissorhands/Ed Wood. However when you look at his career as a whole, I just can't fathom how one could interpret Depp as a one-note type of actor who doesn't have what it takes to pull off this role. There's a reason why Depp and DDL are mentioned all the time. You're not gonna find another working actor that would put more work into creating a character, than those two.

At this point (a week before wide-release) talking about recasting is pretty disrespectful. At least wait to see the guys performance before you poop out boring, obvious choices of actors to play the role. You never know, if the hype is the real deal, someones going to have to have serious chops to follow what Ledger did.

A great example of this is The Crow. No one ever came that close to Brandon Lee's take on the character, everyone who followed seemed to Parody what he did. I know 75% of that was in the bad writing the actors had to work with, but the actors (some we're kinda talented) really just ended up mimicking Brandon even though they played different characters.
