The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

I have to say, after watching the movie multiple times, Joker is extremely dog-like (im sure this has been mentioned before)

just his jitteryness, the whole lip licking, and of course him sticking his head out of the car

makes the "dog chasing cars" line more very true

Intresting observations..

yea i deffinatly noticed that aswell, i think theres a whole theme of dogs in the film. i think its alluding to the fact that dogs have no rules, as they say "its a dog eat dog world"

just a lot of dog references in general

Those are good points as well . I however saw The Dogs used by The Joker as a nod to The Joker & Harley's pets the laughing hyenas, Bud and Lou from BTAS .

Im surprised I havent heard or seen one person that DID NOT like Heath's portrayal as The Joker, everyone I know or have talked to or on these boards is head over heels for it, its pretty crazy.

Would have been cooler if Joker addressed the dogs as Bud and Lou when he told them to attack Batman.

I know several people who were dissapointed with his make-up design, but loved his performance.

ha ha

imagine how great it would be to warp back in time one year, to this forum to tell everyone that the Joker would be "dog-like". ha ha we would have gone totally bananas

OMG. How creepy was Joker's introduction, him cryptically laughing, coming into that meeting?

"Hehehehehhehehe-hohohohoh-hehe-hoho-hahahaha-hehe" :p

-TNC

His introduction was far earlier than that :cwink: It was the opening scene. From the moment we see his back outside the street holding on to his clown mask, it was just insane. When the other clowns spoke about him, you felt his presence and you couldn't wait to see him. Then the first time we hear his voice, it was indescribably. Especially because he had on a mask, we could only hear it alone.

No no no, I killed the bus driver.

Two Face: "The Joker's just a mad dog. I want whoever let him off the leash"

It's funny, Two-Face thought that The Joker was, as he said, just a "mad dog" when in actual fact he played everyone like a fiddle. Batman, the cops, the mob.
It just shows how much everybody underestimated this guy.

God, I remember when people wouldn't stop whining about Heath Ledger playing the Joker. The most common complaint was "this guy was in Brokeback Mountain, how could he possibly pull off the joker?"

I bet they're eating their words now.:oldrazz:

does anyone watch samurai jack? i've just see a episode and Aku and the Joker are very similer, they are agents of chaos. Hes like a accient japanese devil, all he wants is to cause death and chaos similer to Joker. They are just evil incarnate.

Well, no. Unfortunately it's more like they act as if they never said them.

That's what me and my gf thought of as well with the dogs in the film. We were wondering if it was just a crazy coincidence or was an actual nod.

OK let me ask all you guys this. Am I the only one really really annoyed by the Hot Topic crowds obsession with the joker? I have a friend who's a chubby goth and is obsessed by the dark knight and she has joker stuff everywhere on her walls and her myspace just everywhere, so I say well if you like the joker then check this out and I hand her a copy of the killing joke and she says eww I hate comic books those are for nerds......I'm moderatley enraged in seeing the bastdardization of my favorite comic book villian. Am I alone in my frustration?

Some people just don't like comic books, and they are perfectly within their rights. The Joker (and other characters born from comics) have become bigger than the medium they were created for. This is also ok. This is why we have cartoons and movies with these characters in. It's rather an elitist attitude to think that people cannot love a character without loving the medium they were made for.

I myself love comics, but that doesn't mean I'm any more a fan of certain characters than someone who only likes them in cartoons and/or on film.
