The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

^^^ I don't really understand how "the raw velocity of the character" is compromised in the mob scene but maybe it's because english is not my first language.

haha. indeed.

at least you don't have to resort to 25 cent words and insults to make your point gwyn.

and i agree his "raw velocity" is not compromised. not one bit. he walks into a room filled with some of the most dangerous individuals in the city, laughing as he does it, murders one of them (quite violently) and then proceeds to threaten to blow them all up, after making some pretty bold demands.

where is the hesitation again?

by the way english is my first language in case anyone is wondering.

I wouldn't say he's hesitant or nervous, but I think he is deffinately holding back. Afterall he doesn't want them to know his real "plan" just yet, he's playing his cards close to his chest. The only indication that he is planning to off the top boys (Maroni, Chechen, Gambol) is that little pointing gesture he makes towards Gambol when the price is put on his head, its like "OK you'll be first!!".

And you're positively fluent in confused. :)

are you confused? i was actaully referring to your conversational english skills.

it seems to me you often tend to undermine your admitedly well thought out theses by injecting an unnecessary air of condescension (i.e." An unoriginal post doesn't warrant an original answer." ) and a perception that you have an inherently superior position on the matter.

meaning (and i do hope this isn't the case) that you arent really interested in having a conversation or engaging others with a difference of opinion unless they converse in a similar syntax, regardless of the validity of their point or points.

i tend to agree but rather than demean those whose presentation i feel is subpar i tend to just ignore them.

I thought you were making a joke; "I know right" as in "I know correct" as in "I know Japanese".

I don't look down on anyone for their written English- if you look at the users on my friends lists, you will find that they all have their own *ahem* style. I am only human, however, and will inevitably register frustration with the umpteenth person who disagrees with point which he erronously thought I was making.

fair enough.

personally i tend to attribute a fair amount of humour (for lack of a better adj.) to your posts that i think goes unnoticed by most.

and i now see that my own response had more to do with others erroneous reaction and response than to the point you were actually making.

this is often the case around here because unfortunately poor reading comprehension can cause a point to be misunderstood and the problem tends to expotentially multiply when others respond before reading.

I like the Joker in Batman RIP, drawn by Tony Daniel, very creepy.
And I really like that his features are well proportioned unlike Tim Sale's Joker and his big teeth or Lee's and his pointy nose.
The only thing I'm not too crazy about is that he is smiling all the time (because of severed nerves due to a bullet wound or something), I much prefer a Joker that can also brood like in TKJ or like Bob Kane's.

my favorite jokers are the ones who hardly smile...so mostly millers

Thats why I liked the scarred Joker so much, he can be really frowning and not look happy atall, but the scars make it look like he is smiling even though he could be very far from happy. Theres just something twisted about that I think.

ya different people have different preferences. I think the scared face looks good live action, on paper its kind of meh. I just love the shots, specifically lees joker, and how he looks bored. I can't wait till he sees batman and that grin spreads across his face.

Agreed, I wouldn't want a scarred Joker in the comics (although I did think Bermejo's rendition was very good, contrary to most other people's opinions) Onscreen however, especially in Nolan's vision, it worked perfectly, and also allowed for Heath to create certain aspects we wouldn't have got with a permawhite Joker (like the incessant tongue/lip smacking and all around disheveled appearance that's become quite a big part of this rendition)

I could do without the poor Mark Hamill impersonation, tbqh. :o Then again, I have never been very fond of the Bat in the Sun fanfilms. I realize that one must cut them a bit of slack because they are fan films, but even so, I have always found their Joker to be incredibly pathetic and whiny. I'd quickly lose interest in him if he were written that way in the comics. He's especially embarrassing in Dead End for the short time that he's in that, whimpering about how his condition is all Batman's fault.. wah waaah waaaah!

ya i have yet to see a fan portrayal do the joker justice. they all seem to try too hard.

eww my brain started hurting....ouch.... Ya fan film jokers kind of make me feel sick
