Just wondering, how much do you guys think the Joker spent to have his custom suit made using the mob's money?

The suit is old, dirty ,worn out, and downright nasty looking. he clearly didnt just buy the suit, nor would he go out in public to get a custom made suit. He's been wearing that thing since before the robbery. Maroni even makes mention of the "Two bit wack job, wears a cheap purple suit and makeup" Clearly referencing that his wardrobe is well known already. The"You oughtta know you bought it" was just a quick snip from Joker to taunt them on how easily he could steal money from them. Most likely Joker kept th 68 million to himself to burn with the rest later, or as a way to get supplies and a way to pay his goons

I suspect he didn't pay for it at all. He probably kidnapped a tailor and forced him to make him a suit, then killed him afterwards.

I have to disagree, I don't think he was lying when he said "Oh the suit, it wasn't cheap. You outta know you bought it!" It does look expensive, just look at the lining of the coat and the back of his waistcoat, it looks like a silk lining. The very first time we see him in it it looks pristine, obvously as the film goes on it will look more worn and crappy. I think it was definitely an expensive suit, them coats are like £200 on there own. Did he actually pay for it? That's a different matter.

I remember the designers saying the Joker's clothes were suppose to evoke him grabbing various peices from various thrift stores and putting them all together to make the outfit.

A shirt here, waistcoat there, socks here, coat there.

The Joker is not going to wait on line in Saxs' for a custom suit to be made.

I love that they kept the purple coat. And it's a great shade of purple. Lindy Hemmings sure did an incredible job on that movie imo, keeping the Joker's codes but bringing them into the 21st century.
