I was wondering if it is supposed to be the original suit that Pym wore. It looks a bit worn, with some of the red on the chest area fading. It doesn't look brand new. But are Douglas and Rudd the same height and build? What if one were much shorter or larger than the other? It's not a shrink-to-fit suit is it?

It better be shrink to fit or else there are going to be some embarrassing moments.....

In the early comics anyway (early Avengers), Ant-Man/Giant-Man had different levels of strength depending on his height. His maximum strength was at 12 feet tall (or so I seem to recall). I really hope they throw in some sort of bone with regard to Giant-Man in this movie. Frankly, I personally think that character is a little more interesting, both, however, is very cool; especially if he can essentially disappear by shrinking (without getting stepped on :cwink:).

But in the comics, Ant-Man only retained normal human strength when he shrunk. Here in this movie they've changed that so that he has super strength at microscopic size. I don't know if it's Giant Man level though. If it is, that would be way stronger than the likes of Cap and Spider-Man (if he ends up in the MCU). Could almost rival Thor's, but not quite. Might give Luke Cage a run for his money though.

I suppose the increased strength makes sense, in that when he lands after shrinking he'd otherwise go splat.

See what happens when you stop reading comic books in the 70s? You become dated....

The Eric Joesten Goliath (of the Masters of Evil) had Wonder Man-level strength. He also went by the name of Power Man at one point (before becoming Goliath) but ended up battling Luke Cage for the right to use the name "Power Man". The winner, of course, got to keep the name. You can guess who won.

I thought it was a pretty decent trailer and it didn't hamper my aniticipation for the film. I think it'll be a decent film.

I've got a feeling (more of a hop) we may get surprised and Hank Pym will have a hand in creating Ultron. One reason is how similar the ant man helmet looks like Ultron, the eyes, pointy bits on the side, they look quite alike, something you think they would avoid of they're not connected. Another thing is that the Ant-Man synopsis mentions that the heist we keep hearing so much about, will have 'worldwide ramifications', similar to how Avengers Age of Ultron will have a worldwide threat, in the MCU we have been told that Ultron is a dormant peace keeping program, we don't know chronologically when Ant-Man will be set, could be set way back in the time of Iron Man 1, maybe the heist somehow brings Ultron to light, Pym may have been the one to originally invent it or something maybe? I dunno, I'm just trying to connect the dots.

Elder Stark had his hand in a lot of the MCU's technology across the world, so it's possible he by some extension assisted with Pym in creating the bare bones A.I.

I see no signs of disaster yet, but I don't think any big problems the film might have would be visible in a trailer. It would look professional and polished regardless of who's directing.

It's pretty much what happened with World War Z for me. A lot of drama behind the scenes, but the film didn't turn out to be some kind of disaster or anything.

I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to have Howard take young genius Pym under his wing and work together on some stuff like Ultron.

They aren't going to make Pym a veteran hero of the MCU if they don't have a plan to tie him to its wider history.

This is what I was thinking, well I didn't think of Howard Stark but that could make sense, it's been described as a 'dormant' peace keeping program, dormant being the operative word here, just how long has it been dormant, and who made it in the first place, it's obvious now that Tony activates it, but doesn't create it. Please be Pym.

Anyone think we'll ever see Rita DeMara, the female villainous Yellowjacket, in this movie, even in just a civilian role? She actually has some strong ties to Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity War in the comics. Maybe she could be an assistant to Darren Cross.

I'd like to see howard stark as a mentor of a young hank pym

Well,I was never a fan of the "Old Man Pym" concept,so nothing I've seen here makes me the least bit un-underwhelmed. It looks like Marvel is trying to pull a "Batman Beyond" with Ant Man.If I was DC I'd be ********.:hehe:

But I'm guessing (hoping?) there is better, more exciting footage to come in the full trailer.

I think Rita being Cross assistant/partner would of been cool but I don't think it will happen. I think they would of announced the character/actress in the cast list by now if she was in the film for anything larger than a possible cameo.

It was really good.

I think if your a Spider-Man fan you will probably like the book because it sort of similar to Spider-Man in a way.

You have a urban, smart ,wise cracking hero who has a dramatic personal life trying to do the right thing.

I might be waiting for the collection because I saw the price is 4.99 and I'm getting Star Wars next week which is also 4.99...ugh Marvel's prices are getting nuts! I might wait for it to be in the back issues at a local store that has buy 1 get 1 free on all back issues. Unless it ends up sold out.

More and more I am actually liking the idea of "old man Pym". Especially since Bruce Banner is a major player on the Avengers roster so having another scientist who can change his physical size and become a superhero as an active member would be kind of redundant.

I suppose the increased strength makes sense, in that when he lands after shrinking he'd otherwise go splat.

If you couple it with increased speed too, it makes sense how he could go from one person to another so quickly. Gotta keep in mind that at ant size, the two or so steps you'd have to take to punch someone across from you becomes more along the lines of twenty or more.

So if he had the same speed he'd have normally, instead of the dumbfounded thug being hit a few seconds after Ant-Man "disappears" a few feet away from him, it'd be more like three or more minutes as Lang hauls ass across what may as well be a football field. Not very dramatic.

Maybe at ant size, Ant-Man can make super leaps? He'd probably have to. How else can he suddenly get up high enough to grab someone's tie as well? Of course, if he had Yellowjacket technology, he'd be able to fly as well, which would eliminate that problem. But I don't think that's been a feature of Ant-Man himself.

I hope they don't make Ant-Man like the Flash TV series where he keeps forgetting to use his super speed to move out of the way of an attacker and allows himself to get hit. Ant-Man should be able to avoid all attacks by shrinking out of harm's way.

Of course, that could take away some of the drama because he can't be hit, but he needs to be able to show that he can do that and only if he's injured should be when he can't avoid a punch or blast, and not through stupidity.

Isn't Crossfire in this? I remember Patrick Wilson was rumored to play him before he departed the project. I wonder if they recast him or Crossfire was just written out completely.

There was a shot in there which looked like a flashback to 1960s South America? Adds weight to all the rumors about Howard stark/pym/shield

Wasn't all too fond of the trailer. Highpoint for me was the Douglas voiceover which I loved and again the suit looks great. I still have high hopes for this film but wasn't totally hooked...yet.

Pretty sure he's supposed to be Chitauri, unless I'm misreading it.

Not necessarily. The wreckage during The Battle of New York could have possibly exposed a previously hidden lab or something.
