Yeah, whats up with that?

Why are you racist against comic companies? They still make people like you?

LOL....LOL

Here's the thing. I started reading comics because of my older brother. He initially started out reading DC, which were the comics I collected after he was done. I got into those comics when I was older. However, once my brother got a little older he started reading Marvel. The difference is I never picked up those Marvel comics because I was already into DC, and Marvel characters were TOO ANGST-y. It was always some goofy dramatic ******** when it came to Marvel characters, I just never got into them.

... I never got into them.

End of story.

And after 30 years of DC playing catch up on the angsty drama, that excuse is no longer valid. Dick Grayson got raped 3 times. Green Arrow's side kick got hooked on H. Superman and Big Barda got mind controlled into doing a porno for Christ's sake.

You're an adult now. It's time to expand your horizons. :o

I'm only into Superman...lol

My horizons are expanded on Superman and his mythos. I'm singular now...

Angela would have been a better choice cuz she can ACT and Halle barely can. Sorry to her fans, but that chick's been coasting on her looks forever. She's decent at best. Her Oscar nominations are a mystery to me. Her performance in MONSTERS BALL was... AIGHT. :word:

Bassett is the better actor for sure. She was too old for Storm, though. They could've found someone else.

So, the "C" word. Just a white people taboo word or are we supposed to hate using it too?

Cuz In all my years, I've only ever heard 4 or 5 black people use it, and 1 of them was myself. :o

I'd bet money that at least half the black people in this country have never heard the word, lol.

True story: a friend of mine back in jr. high named Terry (black guy) and a classmate of ours named Scott (white guy) were joking on each other and Scott called him the c-word. Terry was like "wth does that mean?". Scott starts laughing but doesn't tell him. Terry tries to figure it out, so he says:

Terry: Hey, Scott...suck my c-word

Scott: :wow: :lmao:

I'd probably first heard the word like a year before Terry did, heh.

And I think we all know why.

If Henry Cavill played The Red Bee, you'd be the biggest Red Bee fan, I bet. :woot:

Peter Milligan's X-Statix did a satire on the token black guy on a team stereotype with Anarchist scared he was going to die because another 'blacker' black guy joined the team.

I really don't.

I don't get the dark skin either. The show always made it clear who was black.

One of these people is dark... I'll leave it to you to tell me who.
Wasn't he based on Greek American actor Telly Savalas?
Telly_Savalas_9542523_1_402.jpg

Yep....it's the full circle of the light skin syndrome. Light skin men went out and now light skin women are out.

:csad:
I've never got why people care so much about variation in skin tone. I don't pull out a colour chart when I meet women. There are beautiful light skinned women and beautiful dark skinned women.

What is great about the human race is variety.
Most people didn't know who Iron Man was, and that character made billions. It's all about the execution. Prior knowledge is meaningless.
I've think that as well.

Blade and Hellboy made money and neither of those characters are household names. Superman is the most well known superhero in the world yet his most recent movies aren't as big money makers as his brand recognition would suggest.

The average non-comic reader only knows a handful of superheroes and that is usually down to prior adaptations. People mostly know of Wonder Woman from her TV show in the 70's or the X-Men from their cartoons before the movies came out.

How well known a character is doesn't equal how good a character is.

I think if you take a comic character and adapt it into something that people might like and market it well then you have a decent chance of success.

I find it odd that some people complain that the problem with the Guardians of The Galaxy is that is isn't The Avengers. The whole point is its different.

Marvel studios won't last if it simply adapted characters that are just like ones they already adapted as audiences would soon grow bored.

Keanu's mixed though, isn't he?
Keanu is like 1/8th Chinese.

Bassett is the better actor for sure. She was too old for Storm, though. They could've found someone else.

Please, they made Iceman a teenager (played by a man in his 20's) instead of only 2 years younger than Jean like he is in the comics. They could've made Storm 40-something instead of 30-something.

Keanu is like 1/8th Chinese.

Making him less Chinese than the black operator from the first Matrix film.

Well, technically Keanu is also 1/8 native Hawaiian, which more or less makes him 1/4 Asian/Pacific Islander.

Still, I don't get why we parse people's ancestry down to such a molecular level. I find such talk disturbing when it goes too far.

Obama is only half white when he does something they agree with. When he ****s up, he's black.

^So what group was taking custody of Tiger during his **** up phase?

Do Asian people, specifically Taiwanese people, even claim Tiger Woods? I feel like he's 100% n****, especially after his scandal. He was the most dominant athlete in his sport. He was married to a white woman (i.e. black man's kryptonite), cheated with said wife with a whole bunch of other white women, etc.

:o

Most of the people in the 47 Ronin were Korean anyway.

A friendly reminder to everyone waiting for a Black Panther movie:

The movie 47 Ronin was based loosely on a Japanese folk tale based on real people. It takes place during an isolationist period in Japanese history, during which Japan received no visitors from other countries, but the filmmakers still shoehorned a white man played by Keanu Reeves into the lead role.

So, you know... I'm not looking forward to seeing what would be done to a Black Panther movie.

Oh naw, they wouldn't dare shoehorn a white dude in a Black Panther movie. A black man can star in a film or television show. An Asian man can't be the lead in anything unless he's mixed, according to Hollywood.

:o

The Asian community was proud to claim him when the first couple of women came forward. Then as more and more women came forward, it started to get kind of sad, so we backed off a bit. :woot:

Naw man, they were all legitimate Japanese people. The supposed story about why Keanu Reeves became the lead is interesting. When you watch the film, it seems legitimate, too.

You may say that, but I'm calling that ish right now. Like 99% of a Black Panther movie could take place in Wakanda, but they'd still find a way to shoehorn in a white person-- probably as the audience surrogate.

That is a common formula, and I would not be surprised if they go that route.

But it would be a wicked twist if that audience surrogate character (a white explorer who "discovers" this secret advanced civilization in the heart of Africa) slowly reveals his nature as the movie progresses, and slowly mutates into the villain (i.e. Ulysses Klaw).

I wouldn't mind if they used Ross from the Priest run.

It'd be cool, but then you'll have some white people saying there's some kind of agenda going on.

You'd be amazed how many of the people who would be so vocal about **** like that don't even go to see movies. No point trying to please them. Disney has a fairly good track record in terms of standing up to people like that.

There are white people in Wakanda though....well, just the one. Hunter, but nobodies used him in years.

Yeah, most of the time, people have preconceived ideas and stick with it regardless.

I'm going to be excited for people who actually believe Wakanda is a real country.
