The Official Batman TAS Thread - Part 1

A contender for worst episode of the series. The thing is it does have some good moments in it like the Penguin's vulture attacking Batman, and the little sword duel with Batman and Penguin at the end.

A bad intro for Pengy which is a shame because I loved Paul Williams' Penguin in this. Fortunately his episodes got better.

Meh, Penguin's never been a favorite of mine, and this episode didn't help.

And as for Paul Williams, he's good, but I prefer Nolan North and Tom Kenny as him.

I prefer Paul Williams, Nolan North sounded like a thug and I didn't like how Penguin looked either. Williams sounded a class and the Penguin looked sophisticated. Penguin should wear the best clothes, eat and drink and have beautiful women around him like the comics.

Yeah voice wise, Paul Williams knocked it out of the park.

A very light Batman ep. I know this ep is basically "Home Alone guest starring batman and penguin", but for all it's sillyness I still found it enjoyable. As a kid who wouldn't want Batman in their basement and spend an adventure with him? And I agree Paul Williams did a excellent job. I wasn't expecting him to sound that way at first b/c of the resemblance to DeVito's Penguin.

Paul Williams is definitely my favourite voice for the Penguin.

I guess it was an alright episode and I can understand why it was made. It certainly didn't bother me as a kid.

The screwdriver is really the only thing that makes me cringe today.

Gotta say, I really dug this episode. There was so many great shots I had to leave out for the gifs, maybe I can do another set. It's a great story with Croc with a lot of noir elements.

This episode was simply GORGEOUS.

When properly animated, this shows designs knocked anything from Bruce Timm's later shows out of the park.

The opening was so darn atmospheric.

The animation for Vendetta was remarkable, imo. Croc's motive for going after Bullock was very believable. This episode did an excellent job showing Batman's detective skills. I know it's not based off a story from the comics but it feels like a story I woud read in a batman comic.

Also very menacing image of Batman, which is a great scene in of itself.

Yeah it's definitely something I can see someone like Ed Brubaker write in a comic.

I love that image, I agree Kane. Also I like Ed Brubaker only comic I read was The man Who Laughs.

Man Who Laughs was pretty good, but you should really check out Bruce Wayne: Murderer? and the very underrated Batman: Gotham Noir...and not to mention his run on Gotham Central.

I love Vendetta. I love Croc on the show (I'd never heard of him before TAS) and this ep was a great introduction.
Batman TAS Review - Vendetta

There's so much great animation here. The one gif I was really hoping for was Croc flinging the sewer cover at the car.

Yeah I know, I loved that moment. lol I might do a 2nd round of gifs just for Vendetta tonight. :woot::up:

I loved the atmosphere of Vendetta. From the rainy damp weather through the whole thing, to the horror like vibes of Croc when he abducts his victims and they scream in terror when they see him, but we don't.

Definitely Croc's best episode for me.

Eh, don't remember too much from this episode. Never cared much for Croc, to be honest.

Love Vendetta.. easily one of my favorite episodes for its overall excellent execution. The final battle between Croc and Batman would be how I would open up a live action movie, both to sneak in the character without dedicating a story to him and also to ease audiences into the more fantasy elements of the character.

I wish they had decided to keep the same tone with Croc in later episodes as he did provide one of the few physical threats to Batman. Sideshow was also pretty solid.

I didn't really care much for that episode. A phony psychic as a villain was a bit meh.
