The Official Casting The Superman Reboot Thread - Part 2

No, no - I'm not saying there's anything wrong with EJO. I'm saying that, in TGH, he plays the head of newspaper. I know it's two different universes, but there's an issue when someone plays a very similar part in two movies so close together. And there are plenty of other well-qualified candidates, so it's not like EJO is a must-have. He'd be great, though.

Oh I totally get what you're saying, I just think he has a particular look and manner which would be great for white under the right direction. I posted him up here about a year ago, he's in my top 3 choices for the role.

Hopefully the small number of people who saw him in the GH could see past the similar roles ...................... after all, Ryan Reynolds got away with it :D

well only like 38 people saw that movie anyway so I don't think that would be a problem.

i keep hearing about some actors that look too young for jimmy... i dont care what they say in the comics, the age of the actor isn't very important to me... i'd just like a jimmy that looks young but not 16, thats just not realistic in a world that supposed to appear real with superman being the stranger.... if its about superman living in our world, i want a realistic portrait of what a young reporter would be... a 16 year old working in a very popular newspaper in 2012-13? hmmm i don't think so....

paul dano is my choice for jimmy....

for perry white, i have been saying this since before superman returns... i can't think of anyone better suited...

bruce mcgill... thats my version of what perry white looks and acts like.. his demeanor is like it is in that clip... it is not funny, it is not calm... perry is intense, assertive and is not a joke..

and lex luthor has to be a big name if he is in it... not meloni or someone... i mean someone of a much bigger caliber... sean penn, edward norton, daniel day lewis... etc

but whoever it is must have intensity... sean penn always brings that intensity in his roles.... edward norton can bring that, and daniel day lewis certainly has it... sean penn is only working on one movie and i think it is scheduled for 2013, so for him to be able to take on luthor would not be out of the question

but norton and

penn

both have that intensity needed for luthor

I don't want Edward James Olmos in this movie just so I don't have to spend any moment of the film looking at Edward James Olmos.

I'm sorry to be a superficial a**hole, but he looks like Two-Face without the pretty half.

who wants him in a superman movie?

if it were not bruce mcgill, i think whoever it is would be a step down even if it were a better actor... i see him and always think he looks like an animated version of perry white brought to life... if it were anyone else, i'd be disappointed... especially some washed up actor like edward james olmos... the only other one i'd be okay with would be harvey keitel but i have a very definitive idea of what perry white looks like and sounds like and its bruce mcgill

Probably a longshot, but he matches the A-list casting so far.

For Jimmy:

I approve.

I think they need an actor that will provide comedy relief in the role of Jimmy.

I'm not sure about that. He doesn't have much experience in comedies. You can be a great actor and not be suited for comedy roles. Osment gives me no indication that he can make me laugh. They need someone quick and witty. Like a young stupid Shia Labeouf.

Edit. cancel that Labeouf idea. He talks too much. How about that Superbad guy.

You do know that while he was doing some bit parts in dramatic movies, he was on sitcoms The Jeff Foxworthy Show and Murphy Brown; plus his two upcoming projects are comedies.

I don't see how that negates his comedic abilities.

And no, even the Even Stevens era LaBeouf(or actor similar to him) would not be right for Jimmy.

Osment would be damn inspired casting. He was probably one of the best kid actors I've ever seen. Glad to see him getting back into movies. It's tough for a lot of child actors to make that jump to adult roles.

It terms of Perry White the actors I wouldn't mind seeing include

Alec Baldwin
Jeff Bridges
Bruce McGill
Robert Forster
Ed Harris
Harrison Ford -he'd cost a fortune, but I thik he'd be great with Amy Adams and Cavill.

I will take no one less than Keaton or Ford as Perry. :o

Edward James Olmos :cmad:

*crossing fingers for Keaton*

That would just be so perfect. Edward James Olmos doesn't seem caffeinated enough to play Perry, imo. Kinda like my problem with the idea of Zooey Deschanel as Lois. Those actors have their own trademark pace, and it doesn't fit the speedy pace of these characters.

For the record, these are not my picks for Perry (again, Keaton all the way!) but if they're going for big names...I remember David Letterman not too long ago asked Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman who their favorite younger actor/actress was that they'd want to work with, and they both answered that they were big fans of Amy Adams, so either of them might be interested in the role. Neither is really what I'd picture for Perry, just throwing that out there considering Snyder's taste in casting for this project keeps veering so much toward the A-list.

I called De Niro WAAAAAAY back in 2009, and Zack Synder poster dude cant say it was his idea cause he joined in 2010, so :p

My fav for perry is still john goodman tho.

Hoffman! I knew it! He's the one!
