The Official Choose A Director Thread

How they make the deduction that Superman being pulled from GL=Raimi's doing is... Well--- astonishing.

Anyhoo,

JJ Abrams for Superman? YES.

Sam Raimi for Superman? Meh, ok I suppose.

wanna know what we filmed one time that was insane...we tied an old riding lawn mower frame to the back of a pick up truck with a rope..
a couple of my friends got on it while we pulled them down an old farming rode going about 50 mph...yeah, the front axle on the mower broke and my friends flew like superman for a second or two.:awesome: :word:

anywho, I'm gonna say Bay for supes..what the hell, he has a good of a chance as anyone right now.

Impressive....

I'm not feeling Bay for Superman though. It's nothing against the man personally, I'm not your typical Michael Bay hater. I think his movies are fun and entertaining. It's just not what I want for Superman.

yea he would probably make a fun film and it would probably look great. But i would love to find someone who can tell a good story and have that good action/visual too.

Yes, Bay is the walking personification of fun popcorn flicks. And there is nothing wrong with that, it's entertaining. But for Superman, we need a deeper director/writer.

I think Matthew Vaughn would be a good choice.

He and Mark Millar are talking about it and they will probably try to pitch a reboot to Warner.

Take a hat, put all your favorite director names in, pick one, and there you go.
That about sums up my feelings on it right now.

if george lucas pushed to have the alien story in indiana jones 4 he should do superman where aliens come natural to the story. plus he could turn the superman movies into a merchandising giant like star wars.

George would need a better writer to work with him like Geoff Johns for team up with Steve Spielberg, b/c George can’t write dialogue to save his life. And he’s not the best at casting. I’d shudder to think whom he might choose to play superman. You need a director who can balance good action with solid character development. While George would give us great effects and action, I’m doubtful on the character development angle after the recent Star Wars films.

yea he has got off a bit in later yrs if we got him in 80s prime probably would have been a best period for lucas. But yea visual and action would probably by him today would be great.

or what about M. Night Shyamalan? if he does good with adapting Avatar: The Last Airbender maybe he can handle Superman.
