The Amazing Spider-Man The Official Emma Stone/Gwen Stacy thread - Part 2

Just watched the film myself; My god...Emma has got to be the FIRST Leading Lady within a Spider-Man film that I've enjoyed so much in seeing. The only female characters that I had liked or even tolerated in seeing in the past franchise were Ms. Brant, Aunt May, and even Bryce's version of Gwen.

But Emma's Gwen...D-A-M-N. It's going to be epically tragic in more ways than one if they do follow up this film with "The Death of Gwen Stacy" storyline.

Her development as a solo character and her romance with Peter in this film was just freaking fantastic, and it's no wonder why everyone's been raving about the chemistry between Andrew and Emma; no wonder those two are involved with each other in real life.lol

In some ways, I feel kind of bad at the moment for whoever ends up playing MJ because they're going to have one hell of a obstacle in trying to convince viewers that Peter should end up with that version of MJ after Gwen is killed off in the franchise.

PLUS, Gwen and Peter had more maturity in this one film than Tobey's Peter and Kirstin's MJ did in the whole three films that they were in.

For this reason alone I hope Webb sticks around. He's great at directing this stuff so I'm sure he would have a trick or two up his sleeve to execute this. I hope it's even possible to find another actress to fill the love interest shoe's of Emma.. she's too damned good. :hrt:

I know what you mean.lol And given that Emma is also well known as a red head and her range in acting, she would have also made a great MJ as well.lol

She absolutely rocked the role. My god! Loved the chemistry between her and Andrew. She knew what to do in situations, unlike MJ of the original trilogy. I for one thought that the Lizard would take her and she not defending herself.

Emma's portrayal as the leading lady of a Spider-Man franchise is perhaps the first time where I'm not scratching my head asking myself as to why Peter Parker would love this person.lol Not that I want to see Andrew's peter go through the same thing, but if he ever cried out and acted angsty like Tobey's Peter did over his love interest, I could understand why if it was in regards to Emma's Gwen.

Iron Man and AMS got it right in how to handle love interests not being damsels. Have them actually be threatened by the villain along with everyone else, but give them the common sense to figure out how to help the hero's battle.

She was good, but not as good as I thought she would be. She felt important, but not incredibly important.

That was one of my problems with the movie. They're relationship took too long to get off the ground.

Like using an inanimate object to hit the villain from behind... oh, wait. :o

I think he was talking about MJ in Spider-Man 2 and/or in 3.

Emma was/is AWESOME in the role and she is super cute. Blows Dunt's crappy portrayal of MJ out of the water.

Eh...Dunts was fine but Emma brought something to the role of Gwen I've never seen before and it was new to me since I wasn't too familiar with the character. Yes, the movie felt a lot different because it didn't have MJ. And let's be honest, it didn't need to have MJ in the movie at this point. So...that brings me to my own question as to who would portray MJ in the sequel if she does appear.

Emma was fantastic (as expected). One of the best love interests in a superhero film.

After this film, I don't want to see the Death of Gwen Stacy storyline. Don't want to see Emma near it because it'll crush me, because of how good she is in this film and how great the chemistry and the maturity of the relationship with Peter was in this film.

That last line/scene with Gwen at school about "promises?" Yeah, floored me. Talk about foreshadowing.

If they do the Gwen Stacy storyline, let the tragedy happen in the third film, not the next film. I couldn't handle it...

The sizzling chemistry between Emma and Andrew was off the charts. No doubt why they are going out in real life, you can tell there is just sparks between the two.

I agree with Howlett... if she dies in the next film...it'd be too soon. :( Im so scared cause I don't want Gwen to die. :(

I love Emma Stone :hrt:

Think she is a superb actress. There's an interesting interview with Emma Stone here about her role in the reboot

Gwen must die in TASM2. You can't have a moment that tragic in the third movie of a trilogy. You need to end on an optimistic note, with Peter finally coming to terms with Gwen's death and showing a flash of hope with MJ.

I loved Emma Stone since...I saw her in...hmm not in Zombie Land, saw that some time ago...uh...crap what movie was it! OH WAIT! YES. Crazy Stupid Love...mmm and I think I have that movie. I haven't seen Easy A...what other films has she been in?

I work at a pharmacy drug store and there's this hair color stand that has Emma on it. Every time I go by that stand, I can't help but glance at her. hehe. :p :)

Kristen Dunt's portrayal of MJ was not fine (imo). It was down right awful acting and character wise, she was non supportive and kind of a floosy it was all about her and her problems all the time. And she couldn't defend herself or use common sense to not be capture by villians 3 times. Emma was better all around, I don't see how anyone can prefer Kristen Dunst's crappy performance. The only good thing about her performance is that we got to see her boobs in wet t shirts lol.

The first movie that I saw her in was Superbad which I believe was her first movie (not sure about that). She was also in the movie called The Help last year.

I been loving Emma every since she did Lucky Louie with Louic CK.

Well I said she was fine, didn't I? I didn't say she was great either. And I didn't say I preferred her performance either. Say goodbye to the old, say hello to the new cause Emma Stone is Gwen Stacey without a doubt. So I was glad to see a different female character than what we've come to know over and over again. So case in point? I prefer Stone's performance over Dunst, does that make you feel any better? Cause...wait for it...it makes me feel better that Stone was cast. She owned that role.

Nope, she said in an interview a while back that she's signed on for 3 movies in total. It was regarding her hair when she first dyed it blond.

That's just ridiculous.
