Comics The Official GAMBIT Discussion thread - Part 1

Maybe he should try actually reading Gambit's first ongoing, lol....

Wow this place is a ghost town....

Gambit was great in the latest ish of X-23!!!

^great in every issue of x-23.

the writer of x-23 really knows how to write him well.

if a writer ever asks again, direct them to her x-23's books.

I hope they never take him off of her book. Two great characters in one book. :D

If I didnt love Marjorie Liu before, I most definetly do now

Marvel.com: How does Gambit’s relationship with Rogue color his place among the X-Men?

Marjorie Liu: I wish it didn't! If this was real life, that relationship would be one of those bad running jokes that people tell each other around dinner, or when there's nothing else to talk about and so you go to the one topic that's only less boring than dull silence. Don't get me wrong, I used to be a fan of Gambit and Rogue, but the relationship doesn't do either of them any favors.

Yeah, she's my new best friend! :D

yeah, finally a writer gets it. So many writers try to force somethnig that isnt there anymore but they are so done and played out. Its time to stop beating the dead horse and move on. Thank god Liu sees it that way.

Doesn't hurt that she's a total cutie as well:

Yay! No more Death! Though it does seem odd that that sort of thing should just vanish. Wouldn't it be better to have someone mystical just cure him so we could be done with it for good?

Who cares? As long as Death Gambit is gone, i'm a happy man. All those X-23 issues that featured Gambit were sold out at my local comic book store. I saw a guy grabbing the last one and i just know i'm more of a Gambit fan than he is :cmad:Do you guys know where i can download them?

You could actually try buying them online as well. Mile High Comics is very reasonable. :)

Bought as many issues of X 23 as I could get my hands on when I was in the US this summer. I love Liu's writing. And the artwork by Takeda is lovely!

In XML Gambit made a copy of his AoX gun and is carrying it now. It will be interesting to see if this sticks around and will be as popular as his bo staff.

The gun did seem a bit awkward to me when used as a staff, but I'm happy with anything that makes him stick around. :D

don't worry..Death Gambit will be brought back up YEARS later by cool new hip writers..ala Warren and his Death connection...though the idea that Apocalypse can always be reborn through his Death personae is intriguing

I think it's just to give him a few new tricks/sprinkle in a little variety to his powers.

I agree that Death could be an interesting plot tool if used by the right writer. So far Carey really hasn't been that guy, lol....

I'm a little behind on my reading but here goes. From Legacy two ish ago:

Did Gambit do anything worthwile in the latest Legacy?

I read X-men 15.1 and i was suprised as he actually had quite a big role along with Cyclops, kinda like a buddy cop show.

Not in latest Legacy no, it's like he's just window dressing. :(

Well, Mike Carey seems to be leaving Legacy after the next arc. It's seems Gambit will be hanging around post-Schism in Legacy and possibly joing the Wolverine and the X Men title as well, if the rumors/covers are to be believed. I wonder what this will mean for Deathbit?

I certainly hope he joins Logan's team. It would put my two top faves in one book and I can finally drop some titles. :(
