I think it's dumb too be close minded about it. I wouldn't pooh pooh on the theory or the idea. All depends on execution. Dumb twist to the fanboys or the general TV audience? Hmm....

It would be a dumb twist to have the Joker once again stealing the spotlight and give the other great villains the shaft (ex: the Arkham games). I'm loving how they are using Cobblepot as center stage in this story and love seeing all the other lower tier villains get some spotlight.

If they are going to introduce the Joker, I hope they have it be its own thing.

Oh...nooooo. Dumb twist because it would be stealing the spotlight from another villain? Is that it? Hmm....I don't agree. That seems like a very close minded POV.

Again...it would be about the execution of the plan.

Interesting how me and a friend have been discussing how Lord Taylors incarnation of Penguin is quite different with his random psychopathis acts of violence and all.

His actions seem more like the types of acts the Joker would do.....plus he how much he "hates" being called Penguin.

We wouldn't be all too surprised if this "Penguin" does turn out to be the Joker as the show progresses. Would be a heck of a twist!

:shr:

 Aaaaaaah no. If that happened it would completely wreck the show for me. That's just too much of a departure from the mythos. Let the penguin be the penguin and the joker be the joker. If it ain't broke don't fix it! Also the joker at this stage should probably be in his teens, closer to Bruce's age.

They tone has evened out a bit, and when they're being a cop drama with a flair of Batman-fandom it's pretty solid but they tend to still over do or wrongly do any Batman stuff.

Tommy Elliot wasn't right, and I don't like them having Bruce acting like a dick. It was awesome they finally showed him outside of the house the last 3 episodes, especially the school scenery. On the other hand, the Black Mask stuff was pretty solid. Penguin did change too fast but at least it's fun and interesting.

Moony still sucks, but Bullock coming around to Gordon is nice.

And, as always Gordon and 'Gotham City' are wonderful and pretty perfect.

I love me some JPS Mooney! Raarrrrrrrr

A dick?!?? Dunno about that. He's been anything but a dick for the whole series thus far. Him letting loose was the highlight of the episode for me. If anything I was worried he wasn't going to let Tommy have it. He was being freakin' bullied about his dead parents! Good too see his anger come out.

What's also great is that he's very articulate, showcasing his upper class upbringing, and obviously intelligent.

Alfred should have had Bruce take the higher ground, Bruce just looked like a punk and Alfred came across as a fool for leading him that direction.

Pennyworth in the comics would never had let Bruce or sent him to do something like that. Bruce and Alfred would have found a better way to show Tommy (who was a pathetic bully instead of the cunning and jealous kid he is in the comic) was wrong in his actions toward Bruce/Wayne Family.

Hell, in this show's continuity... I don't see anything bad in him becoming Hush and wanting to punish this Batman for being a little petty revengeful chump.

We're talking about a kid who will eventually dress up as a giant Bat and keep breaking the bones of thugs every single night of the week. I think just taking the high road and telling the bully how much of a mean kid he is, and that he would please stop, isn't exactly doing much for the healing process of a kid, who was traumatized by the death of his parents. Especially with emotional scars still so fresh.

I think punching a punk in the face, who's disrespectful towards someone's dead mother, helps to sooth the anger inside a lot more. If he hadn't done it now, I'm pretty sure he would have eventually gone off like a bomb in school. Without an Alfred there to put a quick end to it. This way, Bruce only struck 3 times, and a bully learned his lesson. As opposed to accidentally putting another kid in the hospital, because he just keeps pounding on him.

And I always imagined Bruce as a kid who had a rough time during school, after his parent's death.

Strange, a lot of people looked at those scenes very differently than me. I look at this as an unrefined Bruce, with no clue the difference between good and evil at this present time. I feel he learns basic morals from Alfred, and a good grounds to fighting, but the next level stuff I feel would come when he leaves Gotham to train, that's when he learns quite a bit more about the hard lessons in life. Alfred too me is basic in his moral standings - kid beats up bruce / makes fun of his parents, he deserves to get popped in the face a couple times. Very basic.

Quite like how Gotham's police force seems to be turning around, but I imagine it will be short lived and I imagine it will fall to pieces and people will live in fear by the time this show is done. (provided it doesnt' ever get canned.)

Also didn't realize that was Tommy Elliot, what a missed opportunity, but I feel we'll see more of there rivalry, since it's a fairly easy one to play up on.
Like others have said very big missed opportunity.

So that was Richard Sionis right? Is roman his son?

Not really a missed opportunity. Cannon and others already said Tommy would just be an "easter egg."

Couldn't have said it better myself! :yay:

That's a missed opportunity to only make him an easter egg though.

He's one of the few villains that batman has that he could of interacted extensively with at this age, without hurting the mythos. Just a lot more you could have done. That the writers chose not too, it would have beat most of the Bruce Wayne scenes that have happened so far.

^No reason Tommy can't come back in future episodes or seasons.

So Tommy, completely unprovoked, bullies Bruce and mocks his recently deceased mother, Bruce rightly punches him in the face, and...Tommy is the victim here?

Exactly. I guess antsman doesn't get that in order to deal with a bully and stop the bully from harassing you every day, you have to right up to him and punch him in the face. Otherwise the bully will not stop.

The dick thing is Bruce went to Tommy's house and blindsided him like another chump.

If he truly was Bruce Wayne, he'd teach Tommy that he is above fighting and bullying is for losers. Bruce was no different than Tommy...

Fighting crime as Batman is totally different than picking on a kid who had just picked on you.

Hell, Bruce should have shown this 'troubled kid' a helping hand to make Tommy a better person than simply making him hate Bruce even more.

Bruce is an angry, emotional and traumatized child. Why do you want to portray him as a saint that is above it all? He's damaged goods right now. He's still got a lot of growing up and healing to do.

You want Bruce Wayne to be some Gary Stu who never does anything wrong. Thank God the show didn't do that. He should be flawed right now. He should be making mistakes and giving in to things he wouldn't give into as an adult. He's not Batman yet. He has a long way to go. That's what you fail to understand. He's an angry little kid right now. He's flawed. That's what makes for interesting television. Gordon is already a saint. The show doesn't need two characters like that. If Bruce was already the way he's going to be as Batman, there would be no room for character development. There would be no journey he would have to go on. He would already be a finished product.

And you can't just offer a bully a helping hand. Some of them will keep bullying you until you show them that you're not going to stand for it.

Exactly this. You said it perfectly man.

I didn't realize from the trailer that the masked man in this weeks ep was going to be Poppa Black Mask! It was a good ep and he serves as an interesting pre-origin for Roman. I hope we see him again, maybe getting involved within the big crime war storyline.

The story felt like it had an influence of The Black Mirror.

I really like Bruce. He's really intelligent and mature, and still flawed and kinda lost. He has a lot of potential, but a lot to learn too.

Him beating Tommy made sense. He was bullied by a cruel kid, and he was really angry because of the trauma he has to live with. Now, he knows it's important to be able to fight back. which is what he did. He fought back. He showed he wasn't willing to accept injustice. He took the law in his own hands, instead of asking someon in the school to do it. Because he knew they wouldn't help him.

Great Alfred/Bruce moment. And the pizza thing was awesome.

I want to see Bruce throw a pizza up on the roof of Wayne Manor in the next episode.
