Gotham The Official Gotham News and discussion thread - Part 2

This weeks ep was mediocre but I do love this version of Zsasz and the Crane two parter looks very promising.

I'm hoping that since they've removed the MacGuffin-esque plot-line from Selina and Bruce's storyline, we now see them have him seek her out to help him train in roof-hopping, and being a little chilly to her. We could always use an aged-down version of his Year One "walking the streets" storyline, and giving him more experience with the "lower" classes in Gotham would give them a good chance to showcase how Bruce can be righteously outraged at Gotham's evil.

And did anybody else like how they had Selina's confession be ambiguous enough you didn't know quite why she was doing it? It could be a guilty conscience, it could be fear for Bruce's safety, it could be fear of the offer he made her.

GOTHAM (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)

The fearsome secret origin of iconic Super-Villain The Scarecrow is revealed on Feb. 2 and Feb. 9, when Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Bullock (Donal Logue) track down a killer who murders in the name of science. On Feb. 16, Gotham City turns into a three-ring circus when a clown attack traps Gordon and Dr. Thompkins (guest star Morena Baccarin) under the Big Top, and Gordon meets John Grayson (guest star Rob Gorrie), the father of the future Robin. Finally, on Feb. 23, Gordon and Bullock track down the Red Hood Gang, as Selina (Camren Bicondova) plays a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with Ivy (guest star Clare Foley).
The Red Hood Gang. :atp:

That leaves five we don't know about .
I hope we at least get a hint of the cave before the season is over .

Who else thinks a possible Court of Owls story should be told in the series?

Seems like they're going with the multiple origins angle for the Joker, which is good
So far we have three that might become the Joker
*Red Hood One
*The Killer Clown
*The Stand Up Comedian

Dr. Crane tonight.

They are already trying to balance too many threads at once, we don't need another.

Storylines:

Gordon's hunt for Wayne Killer
Penguin's rise to criminal fame
Fish's revenge
Gordon's quest for justice
Bruce's hunt for Wayne killer
Edward Nygma's shenanigans
Whatever is going on with Arkham and the dual mob families
Gordon/Barbara
Gordon/Thompkins

I'm sure I'm missing others. Focus on one thing at a time and bring it to its full potential, don't try and stuff every villain into the first season and leave them hanging around like run of the mill thugs. The Electrocutioner arc was great because a lot of the outside stories were either tied together or left aside.

Gotham needs more of that and a realistic (read: Existent) end game.

In other news, here are my thoughts on the episode.

Solid enough episode; if this show completely left Barbara behind, killed Fish, fleshed out Maroni/Falcone, had tighter scripts/stories, and bought a better music department... it would be pretty special.

It's a bummer those bad things almost anchor down the good things; the atmosphere, Gordon/Bullock, Bruce/Alfred, the side characters like Leslie, and their casting of their weekly rouges is pretty on point (it's just those said characters have little to work with).

They should seriously consider something like the rhythm and style of Arrow's season 2; pick two or three major overarching plots, but focus only on one for two or three episodes a piece in a row.

I really liked this weeks ep, the back story for the kid that will become The Scarecrow was good and the scenes with Penguin and Maroni were awesome, Oswald's resourcefulness when in a jam is unmatched! :funny:

It's a shame that we know Jim has to end up with Barbara as there be sparks flying with him and Leslie, Morena Baccarin has been a great addition.

I wonder who that was Fish charged at, at the end. :hmm

The Captain had the line of the week when she said to Nygma "Get your hand out of that corpse!" :D

I think Barbara will come back and reveal she's pregnant. Jim will stick with her out of a sense of duty. That's the only way I see them getting back together.

I don't mean anytime soon, but sometime in the future of the series.

Surprise, surprise! Another lunatic will soon be terrorizing the streets of crime-ridden Gotham City by killing innocents. But in this case, the deranged dude was once a hero. One of NBC's Heroes, to be exact.

Milo Ventimiglia has been cast in a recurring role on Fox's Batman-without-Batman series Gotham, TVGuide.com has confirmed. He'll play a character known as the Ogre starting in Gotham's 19th episode.

You comic-book aficionados will recognize the name, but Ventimiglia's character is not the Ogre you remember from the DC Comics universe, aka the genetically altered man who palled around with a genetically altered ape (though that sounds awesome). This Ogre, real name Jason Lennon, is a serial killer who preys on young women while searching for the perfect mate. And he doesn't use Tinder like a normal person. Instead, he administers a near-impossible test, and when ladies don't live up to his lofty standards, he gets rid of them... for good.

Ventimiglia is best known for playing Peter Petrelli on NBC's Heroes, but his other TV credits include a role on Gilmore Girls and the short-lived Mob City. He currently stars in the Crackle series Chosen, and can next be seen on ABC's supernatural drama The Whispers.

I believe before it got picked up for season two the creators talked about exploring the Court of Owls in season 2.

The Ogre sounds like he should provide a good threat for Gordon, I wonder if he'll be a multi-ep villain.
