The Avengers The Official 'Hulk in Avengers' thread. - Part 3

Thanks for the info guys.

To be honest; the MAIN reason why I'm so interested in seeing the Hulk in this film is to see on how he interacts in the group dynamic of the Avengers.

I think he's the only Avenger that has never been shown to interact with any other heroes or comrades in arms in his previous live action films; so this makes it extra special for me.

Yep, I might even say that he's the character I'm most excited to see in The Avengers. When people see him in the movie, they'll know that something's about to go DOWN.

I'm just glad that they didn't go down the "ultimates' route with the Hulk's interpretation in this film (with him being a people eater and being a menace/villain like to the Avengers as a result of Loki controlling him).

If anything, I still believe that EMH's has the best characterization of the Hulk's character in a media format and I really hope that he's portrayed very closely to that.

Plus, it wouldn't be bad to see the Hulk being clearly labeled for once as to being more heroic than a liability.

Heck, I'm interested in seeing on how the Hulk himself interacts and responds to Banner.

From what the EW article said; Bruce actually finds it funny himself that Stark is always trying to push and see the transformation, despite everyone else being so edgy and nervous about that.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a scene where the Hulk gets a chance to wield one of the Alien weapons and gets surprised in seeing on how much impact it makes at first, only to smile from knowing from then on that he has a new toy to play with (I think something like this was shown in EMH when the Hulk took the axe of..what's that guy's name that hangs around with the Enchantress?)

We know that he takes on Loki one on one, as well as the alien hordes in the battle royale, so I'm sure he will get his hands on all sorts of cool stuff while he's kicking ass.

Which leads me to wonder if the encounter had taken place BEFORE Loki gets into SHIELD's custody on the Hellcarrier.

In the scene shown at the D23 Expo, Loki says something that implies that he's already met/knows about the Hulk, and I would imagine that this would only be the case if he's actually had a run in with him. I might be wrong though.

Good point.
Loki says something to the effect that this cage was built for somebody else, and something else (I forget) that implied Hulk; so it's clear that he's already aware of Hulk somehow.

When I think about the Incredible Hulk film, I always think of two shots before anything else:

The look and body type for the first one. I LOVE how Hulk looks in that shot. Tough and bulky, but still lean 'n mean. And his hair is awesome.
Then the second shot for scale. That seems totally right. Bigger than any man, but not so huge he becomes ridiculous.

I'm hoping they'll stay pretty close to this. This is my definitive look for Hulk so far.

He's too lean here for my tastes. I don't need him to be as bulk as Ang's Hulk, but he looks like he's been hitting the gym too hard in TIH. Plus the head looks disproportionate to the body. I think the best scene of him was in the cave during the rainstorm. He seemed more proportionate there.

I think how he was in TIH body shape-wise would be perfect if they were going for The Professor Hulk. Just maybe make him a foot shorter, humanize his face more and let him not have a messy hair-do and it'd be The Professor to a tee. Oh and ditch the ragged clothes too.

Well i do like the humor in the fact that in the film; despite having saved Iron Man from falling to his death, he still drops him on the ground in a less than comfortable way.lol

What bothers me here is not what the Hulk is doing. It's the idea that Iron Man could die from a simple fall of any height. He hit the ground in IM1 after getting hit by that tank shell at at least terminal velocity if not more and he just got up and walked away. And that was the old Mark III armor which has got to be inferior in it's ability to protect the pilot to whatever much newer upgraded version he'll have in The Avengers.

I dunno, maybe Hulk just thought he might die(even though he wouldn't) and chose to try and save him.

Maybe that's why he gets dropped. Hulk catches him, Stark cracks that he would have been fine, Hulk casually drops him.

Don't like the hairstyle on that figure. It's reminsicent of Ang Lee's Hulk with the short hairstyle. I prefer his hairstyle becomes wild and ruffled.

Amen! Look at Entertainment Weekly's picture of Ruffalo's hair! Now look at the figure. So--let me get this straight--when everything on Banner grows, rips, and expands...his hair gets shorter, tighter, and neater?!?!

Please keep the same wild and savage hair from The Incredible Hulk.
Rage, fury, and savagery are not personified by neatly coiffed, high-off-the-forehead hair.

Okay, that is amazing! I've never seen it. It's obviously from A:EMH, but I've never seen the text ("Hulk, Strongest Ever") on the show. Where is it from?

Yeah, I think this is gonna to be the case.

I could definately see this happening, it would fit their character's perfectly.

Should the Hulk wear shorts or special pants now that he's working with Shield? Something invented to grow when he does. I've been reading old issues of the Hulk and he wore purple shorts at times.

Some type of outfit that adapts would makes sense at some point, but I think we'll just see the blown out pants look in this movie.

He wore purple shorts again for a more extended time when Banner's mind had control of the Hulk.
Interesting to note Kirby's little inconsistencies there (giving the Hulk 4 fingers and both him and the Thing 3 toes).

Looks like he will be wearing the purple shirt and tan khakis for the entire movie, so when he Hulks out he 'll have on the ripped up khakis like the figure does.

Lol, the Hulk at the bottom has his hair parted to the side and love the bermuda shorts in the first one.

Hulk and Thor. I realize this was made a while ago, but jeez, Thor is hardly recognizable. I bet this Hulk must have looked mindblowing in the late 70's/early 80's.

the tanned pants...did they look bad back then when we watched the series?...i mean he already wore such pants...so why is it a big deal today?

The Hulk that's with Thor was part of the 3 TV movies made in 1988-90, 6 years after the original TV show cancellation. Even when retained Bill Bixby, Lou Ferrigno (and in one of them Jack Colvin as Mr. McGee) and the original theme, it didn't have Kenneth Johnson behind and you could tell. They were cheap and the effects were cheaper than the original TV series and ignored important aspects of it /like the Hulk having killed Banner's colleague in the pilot). Plus it didn't have the same tone and you could see some cheese here and there.

Amongst the original TV series fans the later movies are not very well regarded.

Now, if we talk about the original series, yes, Lou looked good in some episodes, specially the pilot where the Hulk was specially scary and ugly, much much more than in Ang Lee's or Leterrier's movies. And the transformation effects had most of times a better impact than those of the new movies.
