Defensively the Thing is on par if not above the Hulk but not Offensively. He can stand up to the Hulks beatings but It's a downhill fight for him.

Yeah that's true, but some people are acting as if there's just a tremendous strength difference when it really isn't (especially base-level Hulk).

Basically whenever Hulk fights someone, the other guy is always gonna get tired or fatigued before he does. That's how they write him, so he's rarely gonna lose unless he's up against a god or something. And even then....

True, I'm not saying Thing is able to beat the Hulk I'm just saying he should be able to go toe to toe with him due to him better fighting skills.

They should come up with someone that has the power to calm anyone or anything down. Then the Hulk will have finally met his match. :highfive:

Starfox tried it in Hulk 300.

Thing - You sure that's the best you can do Buttercup. :applaud
Hulk - The longer Hulk fights the stronger Hulk gets.

Thing is inferior defensively also, his damage soak has never been as good as Hulk's, and he lacks the regenerative healing factor.

Someone just needs to create a Lithium derivative geared towards the Hulk body chemistry and figure out a way to introduce it into his blood stream. His metabolism may just burn straight through the drug.

Reed Richards tried to build a machine that could do that. Here's a wiki exert.

World War Hulk
"Reed Richards tries to build a machine that will cast a projection of the Sentry and recreates his calming aura, hoping that it would calm the Hulk, but the Hulk sees through the illusion."

I just noticed something, it looks like the alien dodged the first blow which is why Hulk followed up with a second attack.

if you look closer i think he hits the first guy, then going on to a second, that with a bad ass score with hulk doing a slam after slam would be amazing!

Nah after I pointed it out in the "News and Speculation thread" everybody looked closely and came to the conclusion that he dodged the blow.

Re-read my post, I didn't say he was "almost as powerful" as the Hulk and they're both class 100 so I don't see where the big gap comes from.

I've never thought Thing was a full on class 100. I thought he was around the 80 or 90 mark, just a bit above the likes of Colossus.

But even so, Hulk is class 100 and up, due to him getting stronger as he gets angrier.

The best way to put Hulk down is to go in hard and fast (heyyo!) and take him out before he gets the chance to get really angry.

I love that the transformation starts at his chest (heart)

That actually makes sense IMO. His heart would be the first thing to hulk out in order to keep his blood pumping adequately during and after his transformation.

Good eye, JB.

If it's modern day Hulk vs modern day Thing then Thing doesn't stand a chance at all as shown in WWH.

Yeah, the Thing, as long standing and iconic as he is, really has never pushed past about Class 80. Not outside of the brief "Spikey Thing" period.

His greater fighting skill would make a difference, except the Hulk also regenerates. . .

There are characters that have calmed Hulk down before. But the thing of it is that Hulk has a certain point where what once, some power may have worked on him, when angered, he has a greater resistance to.

THE THING started out in the 5 ton class and his strength grew tremendously over the years until he was in the 85 ton class during the 80's.

I think he was in the 100 ton class during the 'spikey' phase, but don't quote me on it, and I'm not sure what he is now.

Not sure if it's been discussed, but I wonder if in Avengers, Banner might learn to control the transformation or call up The Hulk when needed if you will. After all didn't the ending of TIH point towards this. Not to say the transformation can't still occurr uncontrolled, triggered by unforseen events, but it would make sense to me that Banner might have learned, under controlled circumstance, to release the transformation. It's a risky endeavor, for as the provocation post transformation escalates so would the Hulk's potential for uncontrollable rage, and hence not something Banner would allow off-handedly, but putting the transformation under some self-control would be an interesting twist.

Never. That's how it used to be back in the good old days.
That's what I hate about the Hulk now.Back in the days wacthing them fight was fun now it's just ridiculous. It was fun to watch Hulk fight Thing,Submariner, and Thor now he just slaps Thor around.

Thought they did that with Sentry.
I hate Sentry.

Yep Slaps Thor around.

That's now before the whole healing factor thing.Hulk was just Thick skinned.

Bill Bixby that was his signture pose.

It's not allowed or the Hulk will cease to exist.Anything else can be done but not that.

I disagree.

Hulk is becoming Marvel's Superman.Except he is beating up his own people.Somewhere in this mess the Hulk Mythos got lost I hope they find it again.

When I saw The Hulk in that Avenger clip of him coming out of the window.I immediately had dajavu with this image.WHich by the way bares a strong resemblance in the facial structure as well.Stands to wonder if it where part of their reference.
