I want both, cause im hulk selfish!

That makes two of us.:cwink:

Have you heard any news about the television show?

I went to DelToro's site and tried to make an avatar, so I could be cool like you and the Strongest One There Is, but it didn't let me. What did you do?

Man, so far all I know is that's still in active development. I believe more new will arrive after the Avengers.
About the avvy, I went through user cp]--- edit profile----edit avatar. Just be careful cos it allows small files, up to 6k only. Do you think that's the problem?

Curious question:

If there are any posters who are averse to Hulk speaking, could you explain why?

Not looking for any battles...I'm simply curious to understand the other side of the fence

Well, despite being a gigantic Hulk fan, dirty confession time: I hate most Hulk comics, specifically when he speaks too much. No Joe Fix-it, no Planet/World War Hulk (good story though).

The time that Hulk works best for me (and I understand it is not the same for others) is this brutish force of rage. I see the monster as so consumed with his anger that it is difficult to overcome it, and I love to think that as, from a narrative standpoint it'd mean he'd lack clarity to speak too much.

I love for Hulk to talk, I just want him to be concise and much of the time in his head. When I hear the haunting "leave me alone..." in TIH it's special because he's kept in this darkness as a daunting, almost, horror-like creature.

Plus, you know, he talks enough with his fists.

I don't know, I guess I just loved the tortured Jekyll and Hyde bit.

Completely agree!

I wouldn't say that those are his opinions he may not see it or interpert it as you do.

As I said...he should be paying attention then, shouldn't he?

Compared to Ang's Hulk he does come off as rather skinny and sickly actually.

Compared to Avenger's Hulk, Ang's Hulk looks stockier as well and much thicker. TIH and Avenger's Hulk both give Hulk a more leaner look than what Ang Lee did, imo.

Also speaking about the bullets they may or may not been able to hurt him
however it sure does give that indication by him using shield to protect himself.

As someone has mentioned, bullets probably irritate Hulk. I mean, bullets don't harm him, but getting shot at by soldiers everywhere he goes could get quite annoying, so using a shield from a truck may help him with avoiding that annoyance. Nothing wrong with that. If bullets did hurt him, we'd see him bleed from those bullets; thus, bullets did not hurt Hulk.

Also there was no scene that focuses on his regenitive powers as in Ang's Hulk where he gets hurt and we see it heal.I guess it's assumed just like alot of the movie including his jumping.

We don't need a scene to show Hulk's regenerative abilities though because it's a given. Much like we didn't need to see Hulk jumping yards and yards as in Ang Lee's Hulk because we already know this about Hulk. The audience doesn't need to see every ability/power if it doesn't fit anywhere.

Also while I'm sure he does get stronger when he fights Abob.
I remember his Eyes getting brighter however he never really acts on it.
He slams the ground which cause Abob to lose control of the ball and chain where the Hulk then takes advantage of the situation. It never came across to me as if he out powered him as much as out smarted him.
So to me the point was lost.

I got the point with how Hulk got stronger/angrier during that final battle. His eyes glowing and him crying out "Hulk smash!" were enough indicators that Hulk had gotten stronger because of Abomination pissing him off. What else do we need to further that "point"?

If you have to see anything Hulk TV series, that's the pilot. There are good episodes but nothing like the pilot. That's a true Jekyll & Hyde type of movie.

But I dare you to watch (or re-watch) the Pilot and not feel as though Bixby outclasses both previous Banner incarnations, while making the whole ordeal more riveting and tense. Really just two scenes are necessary, when he arrives at Elaina's Apartment after the first Hulk-Out and the Pressure Chamber scene, from the beginning up to the transformation. It has more range and feeling than anything I got from the films. His intelligence, charisma, ingenuity, temper, chemistry with Elaina, all on display, all in one scene.
Since you two feel so strongly about the pilot I might go ahead and watch it, if I can find it. As said, I haven't seen that part since I was a kid so I don't have too much recollection of it.

I liked a lot the "leave me alone," because it was said in the shadows. It was almost if Hulk's "soul" was speaking. "Betty" was also good because it showed what it always shows: Hulk cares for her. "Hulk smash" I didn't give a damn about. I mean it wasn't and and it's justifiable because it's Hulk's famous line but only from the movie's perspe3ctive it added nothing to teh action.

Definitely not a TIH fan but i have to admit that "Leave me alone" line from the darkness was pretty good. Then again pretty much everything up till the end of the Hulks first rampage ended up being better than i expected. After that...not so much. "Hulk smash" was pretty much just a pure fan service moment rather crudely inserted that was kind of fun but in another sense was a bit jarring (does movie Hulk know his name?).

Which leads me to the next point: my problem with Hulk speaking is what is he going to be talk about. Many times Hulk just keep describing what he's doing, what's he's going to do and what he feels. And that's everything a writer shouldn't put in a character's mouth. You show instead of tell.

As others have said this is why the Savage Hulk (the "Hulk this! Hulk that!" Hulk) might not be the best candidate for a movie appearance. Though i do love that persona and think he could work in a more comedic role as he sometimes does in the comics (or alternatively by playing somewhat against type it could be quite dark).

But giving Hulk a full personality doesn't sound bad. Problem is, how. Just having him speaking is not the magical solution.

Hulk already has a personality in the comics that would go very well with an intelligent, speaking Hulk. One of the defining characteristics of this persona however is that, despite his intelligence, he is not a big talker.

It was weird when Spider-man and Goblin had their little chat on that rooftop. It looked just like two costumed characters barely nodding once in a while while their voices sounded. To me it looked weird and boring. They could have been regular people in Tobey and Willem's costumes and it wouldn't ahve made any difference.

This is a very good point. That scene really didnt work and i think they decided to avoid stuff like that thereafter.

The problem to me is that the masks have a personality. Not only Spider-man and Goblin's but any mask. And that personality has to come out through the actor and that involves hard work, using your whole body, etc. Not just talk with the mask on.

In the comics artists usually cheat and have Spidermans mask emote like a face. Not possible in a movie.

I think translating Spider-man's mask to the screen is a major challenge because the original design could easily not work as the quick-witted superhero we all know. That's why they had him losing his mask all the time (and I saw a lot of unmasked Spider-man in the TAS trailers).

Its a lot more compelling without the mask. Seems like Cap is going to loses his mask in the Third Act of Avengers also. Batman OTOH doesnt really work without the mask.

I'll third that. I remember watching the pilot episode the night it first aired, and it still holds up today. Also special mention should go to the 2-part "Married" episode, and the 2-part "Mystery Man". There's a scene in pt 2 where Banner, after regaining his memory, walks back to the campsite with a thermos in his hand where McGee is laying injured. There's that moment where he just stands there, clutching the thermos a little tighter while staring at McGee. Bill Bixby was the man.

Bixby was okay.. Ruffalo is THE man. ;) :p

You didn't let me finish. Bixby was the man.....pre-2012 :oldrazz:. One of my biggest hopes for this film was that Ruffalo would totally own it, and it sounds like he does. :yay:
I'd love to know if Lou Ferrigno saw the movie yet, and what he thought of Mark.

Ruffalo totally owned Banner. His performance was outstanding.

Not true. Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton) took his mask off several times in Batman Returns and worked just find.

well... He rips it off at the end

I think in the case of Cap, it's OK.... he is alot more like Toney, as Ironman rather then say Spiderman or Batman with a NEED to hid his identity

everyone the man loved is gone..... Bruce conceals his identity because he doesn't want to see those he loves hurt, same goes for Parker ..... Spiderman.

and of course I fully embrace the "Kill Bill" take on Superman, so all the same goes except vice versa ..... he loves humans, and his job is to protect us, so he has to hide behind the mask of humanity.

Caps got no one

Toney enjoys acting like he has no one... and really he keeps Mss Pots at Bay....plus face it his ego is bigger then Batmans or Spidermans

Toney made himself Bruce not so much.

As far as the avvy, I thought the one I had was small enough, I'll keep trying thou thanks.

Hopefully after the movie we'll get some news. The are supposed to be using a lot of the Avengers tech and designs, so I thrilled.

I have always wanted this and I believe this would work well with characterizing that hulk is actually a powerful force. I think that if a movie was made there should actually be a scene where you see hulk truly angry like almost about to explode but no necessarily destroying stuff but roaring and just trembling with anger I think part of the reason the audiences haven't clicked with hulk is that he doesn't really seem like a threat in the last two movies I think a scene where he is just roaring and like powering up so to speak would be amazing kind of like in the 2003 hulk film where he says take It all!!!! In the water but built upon a scene where he is truly angry like how supposedly hulk tries to lift thors hammer in the avengers I believe if he ever tried it again he should actually be trying will all his strength getting angrier and possibly lift it a little but to show he actually gets stronger but that is what I think we should have a scene where only his anger is shown no destruction just anger

With a roar that would make the theater shake :)

For those who have seen the film, is Avengers Hulk more powerful than 03/08 Hulk's ?

I actually kind of jumped a little bit when [BLACKOUT]he pounded on the table as he was talking to Black Widow[/BLACKOUT].

Me too! [BLACKOUT]Haha I think I might have Hulked out myself if he hadn't said he was kidding right after.. that or crap my pants like Natasha.[/BLACKOUT]
[BLACKOUT]Her reaction to that was awesome btw, gave real sense of how dangerous Hulk is.[/BLACKOUT]
