From what I saw the hulk in that little clip didn't look like TIH footage, hulk looked way too bulked and the hair looked like Ruffalo's hulk. To me at least the vehicle didnt even look the same, maybe it was just the Imax 3d i saw it in, but IMO thats how it looked

I saw in the IMAX 3D too. I instantly recognized it as TIH footage. but just that's how it looked to me imo.

Seeing as this was my second viewing there were a few things I was on the lookout for. One was the audience reaction in [BLACKOUT]the Banner intro scene with Widow. When he bangs on the table and she freaks out thinking he's going to change...
At the preview showing, my first viewing, I was genuinely started. In fact, I almost crapped my pants; So I could totally empathize with Widow because my adrenaline was pumping just like hers. This small scene is just so good at making you realize just how powerful and dangerous Banner/Hulk are. In my opinion it did so better than any other scene shown in the previous movies... So I was observing the audience at this moment in the movie last night and yea, pretty much everybody had the same reaction I had initially. [/BLACKOUT]Did any of you notice any similar reactions in your theaters?

Quite true, but then again, was Tony Stark in the comics really ever like he's been portrayed in the movies by Downey Jr.? Sure he's charming and a playboy, but he's not really a *****e, not in the same way anyway, and everyone seems to think Downey plays the perfect Stark, myself included. I think Ruffalos portrayal is perfect for this movie and universe.

True.

I guess I didn't think his performance was all that good. Decent, to be sure, but nothing really special beyond a few lines.

I knew the scene was there, but i still jumped they edited it great.

Hell yeah I jumped too, not only there but the roar we've seen countless times in the trailers made me jump in context with the movie. They way they handled that first transformation, from the bickering and Banner getting everyone uncomfortable with his rising agitation, to the Hulk
grabbing the Pilot trying to eject from the fighter jet
everything showed the Hulk in a much more imposing manner.

What RDJ plays Stark perfectly is the intelligence/look/charm/heroism aspects and humor!(I'm not talking about most of his dialogue But his charisma&playful ways)

In the films Stark is more of a *****e But it fits and Stark in the comics is a *****e to an extend anyway,Stark in Avengers becomes more heroic and what he did on the Helicarrier with Cap to save it and with the missile in the end of the film is pure Iron Man from the comics!!

I'm so glad I ain't the only one who jumped with the Bruce&BW part,I knew it was coming But I looked over to my wife for something and as soon as I looked back it happened and I jumped..I hate jumping in the theaters and for this part I felt so embarrassed!!!:(

[BLACKOUT] The first initial punch on Thor where the blood barelyyy starts to trickle down was amazing.[/BLACKOUT] Obviously Hulk had more overt displays of his power, but that one really really sold it for me, especially because Joss got the point across that Thor and Loki are flat-out gods. That's the way I feel at least.

How great was Hulk stabbing Leviathan with a piece of armor and Thor smashing it into it to kill it..
My god. Just amazing

I went to an early afternoon showing (not really crowded) but when[BLACKOUT] Hulk caught the ejector seat[/BLACKOUT] it illicited a 'holy s**t' from numerous people. Awesome.

Hulk was amazing in this film and Ruffalo was an exceptional Bruce Banner, he didn't really "steal the show" in my opinion but this is definately the best overall Hulk to date.

I wish the Hulk vs Thor fight was one continuous scene instead of it being interrupted every ten seconds and [BLACKOUT]the way Hulk flat lined that leviathan with a punch was :wow:.[/BLACKOUT]

Exactly!

And that's why this Hulk is causing so much more resonance with the audience. It's not only about the increased level of action involving him, and the humor... Whedon just gets the character.

I really hope we do get another solo film.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Hulk was kind of "over hyped", not that he wasn't awesome I just see where and how he stole the show.

I'm not trying to bash Hulk or anything because he was great in the film, I just think people have been going overboard.

I think the whole main cast stole the show and not just one,But I sure think Hulk was awesome and just best Bruce&Hulk on film!!

Bingo :word:

Everyone was just so damn good that it's pretty much impossible to single out who was the best, so I say "**** it" everybody brought their A-game!

Even Hawkeye and Black Widow were awesome. If the movie was just about them I'd probably still watch it.

I have mentioned how brilliant Ruffalo's acting was. But yes, the scene you mention is simply excellent. It shows you that a good actor can achieve many things with a simple gesture in a matter of a couple of seconds. No long-winded descriptive speeches, no long scenes. In that moment, Ruffalo tells you volumes about his character.

I love how he embodied a long suffering lonely man that is still learning how to deal with his peculiar condition.

When I say everyone impressed me I mean EVERYONE impressed me, from Chris Evans on down to Colbie Smulders.

 Well said

Yeah even Hill had badass moments.
I'd totally see a SHIELD movie with the characters we saw in this film.

I had an awesome experience watching it again!
It was great to see the big green guy as their weapon of mass destruction. :D

I just got back from seeing it in IMAX 3D! I don't know if its been mentioned, but i noticed one of the references to TIH.
When they show the repeating clip of hulk picking up the humvee on the monitor, it looked like the back of the avengers hulk not the TIH. Also it had Ruffalo's face as banner obviously, i know people were wondering?
Obviously the other was his comments about the bronx.

Just looked like the same footage and same Hulk to me, personally, I dont mind the Hulk changing appearance every now and again, it makes sense that as Banner evolves Hulk will too, just loved them both in this movie.

There's no question that Ruffalo did a great job, but I think that his portrayal owes as much to Whedon's input as to his actual acting. Whedon has crafted a Banner here who is quite different to the previous films. Bana's version was overly serious, grim almost at times, whilst Norton's was closer to the Bixby version but very introverted and pessimistic.

Whedon's Banner is much more upbeat than the previous ones, and also has a sense of humour. Which means we automatically warm to him more as a character than we did previously. The problem with the character in previous films was that we were meant to root for him simply because he was Banner, the protagonist - but the character himself was never really much fun to be around until he changed into the big green guy. He was portrayed very sympathetically of course, but I never felt like I (as a viewer) could get fully invested in him - it was just a waiting game until he got angry and the fireworks kicked off again. Whereas in the Avengers, I actually quite enjoyed watching Banner on screen too.

I don't think Ruffalo did anything particularly amazing or out of the box - he pretty much looked and sounded like he always does - .......... but he is quite a suitable actor for the role in terms of his mild-mannered personality and appearance. He's not a very tall guy, so this further enhances the huge differences between Banner and Hulk. He also acts with his eyes quite well, and sometimes you get a sense of what's going on in his head just from the way he casts a look. It was perfect casting.

Of course, we can't forget that Ruffalo also plays the Hulk and did all the movement and pre-CGi work for that character also. It can't be an easy thing suddenly adapting your movements to play a much larger and more lumbering character, but he pulls it off perfectly.

So all in all, we finally got a great Banner/Hulk, but I would say 50% of the credit for that should go to Whedon for his reimagining of Banner's character.

I agree 100%
