The Official "I Loved Raimi's Spider-Man' Thread - Part 1 of 99 Luft Balloons

I watched the first movie this morning. If nothing else, the movie deserves praise for the editing. It's outstanding. Each fight scene is really easy to follow and has a really brisk sense of motion, particularly Peter's first fight at school. The fights are kinetic and fun. The montage where Peter draws potential Spider-Man suits blew my mind; a montage of somebody drawing pulses with energy and motivation, combining what's on Peter's mind with what he's drawing in a clever and graceful way.

The co-editor of this movie, Bob Murawski, won an Oscar for his work on The Hurt Locker last year. He thanked Sam Raimi in his acceptance speech.
I fully agree, the fight scenes in this series were outstanding. A real joy to watch. Seeing Spidey fight the villains on the big screen and having it look that good.

I am pleased with what I hear so far about the fight scenes in TASM, they said they also shot it in a way so that it's like you're following Spidey throughout it all like you described for Raimi's movies.

Only with Batman Begins it made sense

So...going after Dent and Rachel to see which one Batman would choose doesn't make sense? Needless to say, Joker had first thought of Dent to be behind the cowl but when that wasn't true, he decided to get Rachel kidnapped as well to see if there was some connection between Batman and Rachel. That doesn't mean that Joker was trying to go after Batman's heart or anything, he just wanted to see which person Batman would choose: the girl he leaped out of the penthouse for, or the District Attorney that Joker has been trying to kill.

Just re-watched the first one. Still a major thrillride for me.

That's one of my MANY MANY favorite things about them. They had so much heart. Changes? Yeah, but overall the feeling was the 1960's Spider-Man comcis and if you ask me, those changes fit into the story.

Watched Spider-Man 2 (2004) today. I had watched SPider-Man (2002) the day before yesterday and I still think it's incredible, and S-M2 is my favorite comic book film of all time.

So she was kept hidden safely somewhere they don't know of, Joker was just captured, Harvey just released, then suddenly Batman is in the interrogation room asking Joker the same day about the location of those two on such short notice?

Makes all the sense in the world

I'm really going to watch S-M3 today and then all of thme back to back. I've had such a blast with Riami's movie and there's a reason they have made $18 billion worldwide.

They did? That's great
Wonder how much Batman's trilogy will earn 10 years after the release of TDKR, bet a solid $28 billion

Yup, they sure did. Still Marvel's highest grossing superhero franchise overall. The premieres aroudn the world for S-M3 were MASSIVE! From Japan, to England to Queens in New York City.

Wonder if Iron Man could be an equal with the third movie, cause his second movie didn't impress as highly as the first did, though I enjoyed the second one more

I absoloutely LOVE Iron Man, but I don't think the franchise will gross as much as Raimi's did overall. The first iron Man was incredible, the second was awesome but not as good, and I have faith in the 3rd.

^Jon Fav is not returning to Iron Man so if the third is bad it can't really go in the same camp as Spider-Man 3 which was expected to be great as it followed Raimi's previously brilliant Spider-Man movie. Blade 3 may be a better comparison if Iron 3 is bad because it also switched directors(following a nice entry by Del Toro). I hope it's good though.

Anybody get real emotional during Peter's talk scene with uncle Ben in that flashback in S-M2? Great scene.

Favreau went from the "first great movie" to the "dissapointing sequel" in just one step. Iron Man 2 was such a let down. At least Raimi had a fantastic second movie in between.

I absoloutely love Marvel Studios, but I think they had too much say in Iron Man 2.

I wasnt let down by IM2 but i could see Marvel's fingerprints on it

as for S-M3, I was still very satisfied with it. Sony/Arad should NOT have gotten in the way though.

watching right now on FX and something dawned on me.... we are supposed to hate the Peter dancing scenes....look at the scenes where he's strutting down the street...everyone looks at him like he's crazy. The only scene where its not like that is during the club scene....and during that scene MJ asks him twice "whats wrong with him"..."who are you"

^^ Exactly. I mean, yeah, the strutting pushed it a bit far, but I get what they were trying to do.

I've said this before, but I really liked the strutting down the street scene. It was really fun and showed how the symbiote really started to change Peter. Although I do wish the symbiote wasn't really played for laughs. But,that moment in the club when he's dancing on tables and such, was just a bit much.

Yeah, it pushed it a tiny bit too far, but it didn't dampen my feelings for the movie. I doubt we would have scene a dance scene in S-M4.

So you seriously don't understand that? Lol, it may not have been all Joker to orchestrate that since Ramirez and Weurtz were working for Maroni, and him, Chechen and the Joker could have been all behind kidnapping those two. They had a back-up plan as Joker had one for everything during TDK. And you're saying it doesn't make sense because of the interrogation at the same night? Well, for one...cops wouldn't just let a kidnapping happen and then talk to a suspect on a different night, and two...that's just a complaint to just complain.

I'm not trying to get under your skin or anything, lol, but how can you say Iron Man 2 said too much but I haven't seen any post of yours saying that exact same thing about S-M 3? If anything, S-M 3 said WAY more than IM2.

I really, really hated the fact that Raimi only teased us with how the symbiote can multiply aggression because the Peter/Harry fight didn't justify, imo. Such as the pictures of black-suited Spider-Man and use not seeing that, but yet Raimi force down the dancing side down our throats and we didn't need two different dance numbers at all. It was like Raimi wanted to just show us how ridiculous the symbiote can be.

I love the discussion scene before Harry tosses a grenade at Peter in his lair, love how Peter talks to his friend
