The mechanics made it more satisfying in Spider-Man 2, but I've enjoyed swinging around in each of the games. Unfortunetly my ASM disc actually snapped in half, and I no longer own Spider-Man 3 and Web of Shadows, so I haven't been able to swing around for a while but that was always fun after a long day.
Haha my mom still gets me Spider-Man memorabilia, jokey items she'll throw in the stocking at Christmas or whatever. I miss how I excited I used to get for those sort of things when I was younger. I remember getting an issue of PlayStation Magazine, and finding a feature inside of not 1, but 2 upcoming Spider-Man games, Enter Electro and a sneak peak at the (then) next-gen Spider-Man: The Movie. My jaw practically dropped to the floor.
I mentioned it in TASM3 lounge, but I picked up
Web of Shadows on Saturday night. I'll finally be able to play tonight, however, as I was gone on a trip on Sunday. My GameStop told me it was the last copy, so I had to get it since it's a hard game to find nowadays. Can't wait to go home!
I don't know how old you are, but I think everyone I know will continue to do that for me as well. I guess being a huge fan of something becomes a part of who you are, and people recognize it as a part of you, too.
I believe I was 16 when my sister sent me all six issues of
Spider-Man: Blue for my birthday. Then on my 18th birthday I received a SM3 action figure.
I haven't received anything after that, but my mom will still call me up and tell me she was reminded of me by something Spidey related, or something along the lines of that.
I still remember my excitement for the next-gen Spidey games as well

It's funny because now they don't seem so next-gen. Generally, though, I still get stoked for anything related to the character, but there was something special about being younger and experiencing it.
I miss those days.
Edit: So much "I" in my post. Oh well, I'm in a hurry!
