The new suit may have been my favorite if it wasn't for the stripes and waistline.

Raimi still retains. It's a masterpiece.

Seeing those reminds me of when we first saw Spider-Man and the big screen, the excitement was phenomenal.

When the first Spider-Man came out to theaters, it was BY FAR the best on-screen costume for a superhero, as far as I'm concerned (Christopher Reeve's Superman and Michael Keaton's Batman were pretty great too).

The Raimi costume is still one of my favorites, after all of this time. Nowadays, though, more often than not you see fantastic superhero costumes on the big screen.

The very first teaser with the WTC still gives me cheers.

It's maybe a little sad but Spider-Man was really the first post-9/11 Superhero, at least film wise.

I believe both the first two films felt like tributes to the people and city of new york at moments.

I've often wondered if the "You mess with one of us, you mess with all of us" was in response to 9/11.

MovieBob did this fantastic video covering the first two Raimi films in his "Is It Really THAT Good?" series. He claims that both movies *are* really that good. :)

He talks about 9/11 in the video, and how important the first two Raimi films were in post-9/11 entertainment.

You mean to tell me that in a video series titled 'Is it really THAT good?' he makes the claim that they really are that good? Wow.

The point of the video series is to look at popular nostalgic movies and go into deep analysis, such as why or how it was popular in the first place, and whether it holds up today.

He goes into the negative aspects of those movies as well.

Totally was.

The only problem I have with the Raimi films is the city is shown more often than not loving Spider-Man, when really the majority of folks do believe him to be the menace that JJJ says. There's a scene where a Daily Bugle paper shows the city doesn't approve of him but besides the montage where Spider-Man first appears, you only ever see people cheering him. In Spider-Man 3 he gets the key to the city! (Which is justified in this continuity).

Spider-Man is always battling the public's perception of him, I mean he turns down a role in the Avengers because he doesn't want them to deal with his baggage. I think the film makers wanted there to be an appreciation for him that would reflect how the audience would feel seeing Spider-Man in real life, perhaps.

I never wondered, I just enjoy it and think it's a fun moment, don't care how illogical it may be, I just love it.

Never seen this video before.

Wonder what stopped them from using the suit as it looks at 00:40, it could have been more beautiful than the gorgeous costume we had.

^ The Goblin helmet looks pretty awesome in this video. The shadows added a lot to it, I guess.

And ... Dat soundtrack. Danny Elfman did such a great job ...

Yeah, I believe this was included in the DVD. The lenses on the costume actually look a lot like what they used for ASM, and the suit color and style looks like ASM2. I even think they had the animated version of the Spider on the back.

Overall, I think they nailed most of the looks down. If anything, the biggest mistake was letting Kirsten Dunst try to dye her hair for the sequel. I think a wig would have done her more justice there.

Seeing the trilogy in the theaters back in the day was definitely an experience. Especially after seeing 1&2 on the big screen. I vividly remember those viewings and they were just so much fun. Some of the best theater experiences I had were those 2 films. I left the theater on such a high.

Ah, I remember seeing all this for the first time when I was about 7 or 9. So much nostalgia. 18 now. I will always love Tobeys Spidey and respect it far into the future of my life.

ahhhh I've been thinking about these movies recently, so many great memories

"It's you who's out Gobby, out of your mind!"
