I still think Raimi would have stepped back into a producer/executive producer role beyond Spider-Man 4.

He was completely burned out after 3 and was basically pushing himself forward with 4 in order to correct his perceived mistakes.

Definitely, though if 4 would have been successful and critically praised like the first, I think Raimi may have done 1 or even 2 more.

I thought the plan was 6 Spidey films, with Sam and Tobey both signed on? I remember reading that years ago, as it also mentioned Tobey would be allowed to have visitation periods with his daughter.

Shame.

I think they would stop after 4. Tobey would be getting bit too old after that and Sam would want to do new projects.

I wouldn't say Toby's age would be a problem, he still looks young, and Hugh Jackman is still Wolverine 17 years into the role.

I read the same thing.
To think that if things went that way, we might have been waiting for Spider-Man 6 right now.

For me, it's very sad how Raimi was screwed over and stabbed in the back by Arad, I'm not sure Raimi felt 4 was the 'solution', I like all 3 films tbh.

Raimi's departure to me, feels like Donner's from the Superman films.

Donner is happy with his Superman movies isn't he. Raimi not that happy with Spider-Man 3.

^And Spider-Man 3 really isn't a bad movie (especially when you compare it to a ton of other comic book movies). Flawed=/=bad.

Zack Snyder has had how many chances now, for instance? Raimi deserved more than what he got from Sony.

Yeah, I have no idea why WB keeps Snyder employed and keeps giving him these big projects time after time.

But that's another topic, lol.

There can only be one :susd:

I prefer Raimi but I'm loving what they're doing so far in the MCU

It's going to be REALLY difficult to top the first two Raimi movies in my book. Especially Spider-Man 2.

However, I will be over the moon if MCU Spidey is good. I'm absolutely loving what I'm seeing so far. I went bonkers when I watched the Civil War trailer earlier this afternoon, and I'm still grinning from ear to ear over it.

Oh man, both of those costumes look spectacular.

And I agree, it's going to be VERY hard to top Spider-Man 2 as the best Spidey film. (But if MCU Spidey does, I will be BEYOND pleased.)

The Raimi costume is so much better, it's just soooo cinematic! The new costume is definitely in 2nd place tho

I can now say that the Raimi suit retains it's title as the best looking Spider-Man movie costume out there.

I love the MCU suit ... I think the Raimi suit is more iconic, though. I don't know; all I know is that both suits are fantastic, and I'm a happy, happy camper.

I think the MCU suit accomplishes what it should have accomplished: To go for something new, fresh, and different while also making Spidey look like himself.

Basically, I think it succeeds at what the TASM1 suit failed to do.

All the movie suits except for ASM 1 are great IMO. Raimi's is just the best. Like the perfect translation from comic-to-film. MCU costume looks very cartoonish, that's not a bad thing, like you said it's new and different yet still familiar.

^ I love it. It's very Romita and Alex Ross style. I still rate Raimi's suits as the best, but I really adore the MCU one. It's terrific.

I don't mind a bit of a cartoon vibe. :) These are comic book characters, after all.

I'm most excited about the eyes. Spidey can be expressive without taking off his mask now! After seeing Deadpool about a month ago and how well it worked for him, I've been rooting for some animation in Spidey's mask (because if there's another character that warrants an animated mask, it's definitely Spider-Man). Sure, it's not really "realistic" (though I do love the speculation that the eyes are actually camera shutters, which is really cool), but it looks delightfully comic book-y to me. I love it.

When it comes to Raimi's suit ... I completely agree that it's more cinematic. It's a classic look at this point (and it's hard to top a classic). The MCU has done a great job with this new suit, though. I think it totally fits in with the rest of the characters in the MCU.

I also agree that Spider-Man's cinematic costumes have all been great aside from that ugly, jaundice-eyed TASM1 suit. As much as I despise the TASM movies, the TASM2 suit definitely ranks up there as one of the best comic book movie costumes, in my opinion (which is pretty much the only nice thing I have to say about that movie).

Overall, Spider-Man has gotten some top-notch treatment when it comes to his costume.

Hypothetically which suit do you think fits the world of the MCU more?

The Raimi or the actual MCU Spidey?

Wow. That's a great question.

I think either suit would fit into the MCU just fine, but I'm thinking that the MCU suit fits in more; it looks more "tech-y," especially with the eyes and the webshooters. A lot of the MCU costumes have looked like tech-y versions of the comic book costumes (Ant-Man is an example). MCU Spidey falls into that line in my opinion, so I think that costume works better in these movies.

The Raimi suit would fit in just fine as well considering Cap's Avengers suit, Loki's costume, and Vision's entire look, though. All of those costumes are very comic book-y. The MCU's suit looks very comic book-y as well, but it's not quite as "classic looking" as the Raimi suit, if that makes sense.

Sorry, I meant the treatment they (Donner and Raimi both got) from their producers after delivering genre defining films was appalling.

I don't want to sound like I'm hating on the new costume or anything, but I don't know get how some people are saying this is the most accurate Spidey costume and how it's better because the character shows real emotion.

The eyes definitely look more like the comics and cartoons, but the rest doesn't and it was a fully CGI shot, so I don't know how you can compare.
