So that's you're rationale for criticising those that do happen to like or defend those movies?
So the next time someone (or a group) of people declare ''Affleck is better than Bale'', The Dark Knight Rises is terrible because of A,B and C and that TDK itself is highly overrated... I hope you refrain from denouncing them as they most likely genuinely believe that.
For the record, I have no love for either BvS or SS. However, you might want to avoid preaching when you often like to throw around certain comments that provoke more than enlighten.
I don't criticize those who defend those movies. If they like those movies, more power to them. I criticize their
reasoning/arguments for defending the big flaws of them, like the awful Martha scene, or chalking homicidal Batman up to having PTSD, or the creative choices made with Letoker etc. Not them personally.
If someone declares Affleck is the best Batman or TDK is overrated or anything else I disagree with, I'll debate them on their reasons for that, not just instantly write them off as being desperate to love a certain version of Batman or unable to think of a franchise as anything other than stellar. I mean have any of you guys even asked these fans their reasons why they love Homecoming best?
I don't want to fall out with you over something so trivial, Pfeiffer-Pfan. I've always liked you. Fellow Irish fan and all, too. But I have to say I am genuinely surprised to see you write off so many people's opinions about a beloved CBM as desperation or stubborn refusal to see it as anything other than brilliant. You're usually much more fair and open minded than that.
Can anyone even honestly say that about the MCU fan base either? Could you find any kind of consensus that would say Thor 2 is stellar? Or Iron Man 2 and 3? MCU fans can get over zealous in defending the franchise (what fan base doesn't?), but even they don't hold those movies up to a high regard. So I don't think it can be said that the MCU is seen by it's fans as an unblemished track record of top notch CBMs.
If you guys don't share the high praise Homecoming got, then fair enough. I don't rate it as the best either. Spider-Man 2 is still the king in my book. But I'm not writing all those fans off who rate it as the best, some of whom I am friends with here on this forum, as just loving it best because of desperation and stubborness. That's like someone saying we still rate Raimi's as best because we're too entrenched in nostalgia, and therefore too stubborn to accept anything new as better.
