What does Green Goblin want Spider-Man to join him in doing? What is his agenda?

I have no idea what his agenda was, lol, but it sounded like he wanted Spidey to be his partner in wreaking havoc in NY or something close to that. That would be the only logical reason of why Goblin even wanted to "lure" Spidey. That or maybe he had candy and/or a Huffy in his van.

I disagree about Doctor Octopus. Peter convinced Doc Ock that his machine was in fact, doing more harm to people than good. The damage done as a result of his attempts to build it is therefore not justified, and not worth continuing to build it. This is how utilitarian philosophy works. The ends justify the means. Make sense?

I'm not sure where your confusion comes from. It's rather straight forward and clear cut in the movie. The tentacles clearly influenced him into rebuilding his reactor at any cost. Otto had already shown he had a violent side when it came to his life's work when he smashed Spidey into a wall at the demonstration when Spidey tried to unplug the reactor. The tentacles just played up that ruthless determination.

It took Peter reminding Otto of the moral ethics he had when Peter first met him to make him realize killing a whole city isn't going to justify him having his fusion reactor.

I don't know, maybe I'm just rusty because it's been a while since I've seen Spider-Man 2 and when I see it again this weekend, then I may understand what you two are saying, but what I can remember, it just seemed a bit off with him being careless with everyone at the bank and train. Stopping Spidey during that experiment is far different than him tossing civilians away off of speeding trains and what not, imo, and it's always funny how he just "became good" once he was knocked out. It was his choosing into just throwing away those men and women, not his tentacles.

The Goblin on the other head went through three different motivations in the movie. He went from killing the Oscorp competition and board members to trying to make Spider-Man join him to trying to punish Spider-Man for rejecting him. Ock's motive was clear cut all the way through. Rebuild his fusion reactor. Sandman's was getting money for his daughter. Harry's was getting revenge on Peter for killing his father. Venom's was getting revenge on Peter for ruining his life.

Gobby is the only one who's motives fluctuated.

I am not saying Ock's motivations weren't straight forward, but him acting truly evil during the film and then it looking like the tentacles were the reason of it and made it felt like it was a plot device instead of Ock just being the evil man he was in the comics just because HE wanted to be.

And one, like I have said, can be very confused with what Sandman really wanted since we never see what he did with that money he stole.

Gonna watch Spider-Man 3 tomorrow on blu-ray.

I would only watch it again if someone makes a drinking game of every single time Peter flings his hair, lol.

You guys make alot of great points. The Green Goblin was really corny and over the top. The best scenes, like some of you have already mentioned, were with Norman Osborn and his "inner demon." The one thing I wanted to see alot of was Norman's "ghost" in Spider-man 3. There weren't enough moments with him haunting Harry and try to convince him to kill Spider-man. Although I have seen a few deleted moments and one I remember in which he asks Harry, "Why haven't you killed Peter yet?"
I wanted to see a moment in the film when Harry just can't take it anymore and shouts at his father's spirit to leave him alone. I wanted to see more of that inner battle inside Harry, but instead, like a light switched was turned on,he suddenly decides that Peter is his friend and so(with the help of his butler lol)he is off to help Spidey fight Venom and Sandman.

Octavius should seem even more villainous to you than any of the others if that's how you judge their turn to villainy. None of them showed they had violent tendencies before they became villains.

He didn't "stop" Spidey during the experiment. He smashed him into a wall hard enough to shatter the bricks. If that had been a normal person who had tried to unplug it they would have been a blood smear on the wall from an impact like that.

Otto was the only one who showed a violent irrational side BEFORE he turned into a villain. You see a man do that just for a fusion reactor, imagine what he'd do for it when his mind is being influenced by evil A.I. tentacles.

Well that's the difference here between comic book Ock and the movie one. The comic book one is an inherently evil man. The movie one is a ruthless and determined man, but ultimately misguided who has an epiphany.

It's assumed it's for medical purposes. He said to his daughter "I promise I'll make you healthy again. What ever it takes I'll get the money".

Incidentally they did film scenes with Marko going to some doctor who he's got working on finding a cure through expensive research that Marko is paying him for. But they ultimately didn't make the final cut for the movie.

The doctor was played by a black actor. Look at number 8:

Who knows, maybe I'll end up changing my mind after watching Spider-Man 2 again. It's been like four years anyways, haha.

And maybe my opinions are solely coming from the fact that I wish we had a strictly-evil villain in the form of Doc Ock. He's one of Spidey's greatest enemies and he turned out to be just one of his greatest allies in the end, lol.

Oh, I know there was a doctor and what not, but I'm saying to the wider audience, no one has any idea that a doctor was meant to be involved and it just seems like that Sandman stole money for the heck of it, lol.

I am sorry you own Spider-Man 3 :oldrazz:
I'm not. I love it so much I bought it twice. I bought the blu-ray disc at Best Buy since I had a gift card and they didn't have the dvd version, but six months later they did so I bought that since I don't have a blu-ray player in my room. Looking forward to watching it again tonight.

I have the 3 disc special DVD edtion of S-M3 as well as the S-M3 blu-Ray editon which came with the blue-ray trilogy pack. I own multiple copies of each film, lol.

Play it on the PS3

I am though. One day even your child will mock you for it :oldrazz:

And...as much as I love Nolan's films, I do not own two copies of any of the movies....that's a bit redundant, don't you think?

I actually didn't want to buy the blu-ray disc, but my mom wouldn't let me use my gift card online, so I bought it. Anyways, just found out my parents are having friends over later, so I can't use the blu-ray player in the living room, so I'm watching the dvd version of Spider-Man 3 tonight.

Just finished watching Spider-Man 3. Don't think I'll ever get tired of watching these movies. Wonder what would've happened if there was a Spider-Man 4 or 5 and 6 like they planned. The world may never know. Sigh. :csad:
