I second that.

However, JMS is not a bad writer by any means. His run with JRJR in the early 2000's was fantastic.

I have to say I wasn't into a lot of the story arcs in his run (I'm not a big fan of the Spider-Totem stuff or Sins Past), but he could definitely write Peter and Mary Jane very well. I kind of wish he got to do more simple, character-driven stories in lieu of the mega-story arcs.

^^ Well, the Sins Past BS came after JRJR left. JMS/JRJR's run ended with The Book Of Ezekiel.

Definitely a lot better than Howard Mackie was around the time of the reboot and the infamous "Vol. 2" days.

I was really hoping that Marvel was going to bring Venom I (Eddie Brock) back to tie into Spider-Man 3. It's a shame because there's a hole in the rogues gallery where Venom used to be. Oh well.
I'm kinda glad they didn't bring him back, how many times did they separate the symbiote from Eddie?

One of my favorites, I love his run with the other two artists somewhat less

And I loved Sins Past, when I first read it I thought it was Ultimate, wasn't deep in comics back at the time

^^ PErsonally, I really wasn't a big fan of Sins Past.
The one thing I don't like about it is changing Gwen's lines in Peter's apartment from concern about Harry and Peter to concern about how she could tell him about her pregnancy

Many times, but I don't have a problem with that. What I really missed was the threat of Venom. Peter was on the defensive when he was around. There's not been a villain to fill that niche these days.

It's a story I have a hard time reading. Since when did Norman's DNA do that? Why were absolutely no signs of Gwen ever being pregnant?

I guess since the explosion and inhaling gas his DNA was doing that
Pregnancy stuff is continuity mess

Maybe cause he isn't half breed and suffers from incomplete serum effect?

That raises even more questions, like "How much did the serum alter Norman's DNA?" Questions I don't think anyone behind the story actually considered.
