When did this turn into a Nolan debate for the 50th time?

That's because you wrongly associate the lack of activity to the series being over. Spider-Man 3, at the time, was not thought of as the end of the series. But it went through what TDKR is now; dwindling forum activity months after it's release.

Yes, but that's not exactly talk about TDKR, but rather if Blake will be Batman in it (:whatever:)

Ah well. If you don't see it, then you don't see it. I can only repeat facts so many times.

That's how you show a lovable, goofy nerdy Peter Parker. I remember people would say how could we hate the dance scenes in SM-3 when we loved this scene.

They're apples and oranges.
It seems like SM3 tried to replicate the Raindrops scene from SM2... and did it poorly.

Exactly. The dance scene was no more cheesier in theory than the Raindrops scene. The only difference is that the movies around those scenes were different, where one was better than the other and it didn't matter.

This is kinda what I mean when I talk about how people who hate the trilogy now judge them solely on SM3, because that sort of revealed the "flaws" that were in the first two films.

I was expecting a more violent Spider-Man once he got the symbiote. And the scene dancing in the street scene in Spider-Man 3 was more goofy and diminished the impact a little. Perhaps if it was played more "cool" it would have worked better. I don't know, perhaps it's Tobey's delivery that just doesn't seemed right.

I remember seeing the fan videos from when they were filming, and it looked like it would be funny, which I thought it was when I first saw it. But in the context of the film, it was very ridiculous, and honestly didn't fit Peter's character, or even the kind of influence the symbiote was supposed to have on him. It almost seemed like they were going for comedy in a dark film.

That's just what it was. The only moment in the Raindrops scene I would call a bit too cheesy is when Peter trips over his own feet walking down the street. But then he was walking without his glasses, because he puts them on after he gets up.

Overall it's a great scene, showing Peter doing all the normal every day things he loves doing but was never able to do while he was burdened with the responsibility of being Spider-Man. It had an emotional depth to it.

For me, it was really great and worked well because it harkened back to the first time we saw Peter in the first film, and I always felt that those first scenes of Maguire playing a total nerd were classic Peter. He was a nerd who was fascinated by science and loved it and Tobey played it well and looked the role.

No, I don't wrongly associate anything. I only see the trilogy being over as one aspect, but as I mentioned before, I still don't equate the quality of a film to how many posters show up, but I will say the TDKR boards do seem livelier tonight than it's been for a while if that's worth anything :funny:

Mostly, yes, but not really all Blake as the rumor along with Blake showing up as Batman is that another person from the trilogy will be in JL. Both ideas I hope are false.

I don't see it as a fact at all to be honest. Unless we get an ancient mod that's been here from the beginning to agree with you.

So,to all you guys out there who hate Spider-man 3,do you own the movie or have you collected any memorabilia from the film(like statues, magazines, soundtrack, figures;etc)? Or do you hate it so much that you refuse to even purchase anything related to the film? Is your hate that deep?

I originally bought it on DVD to add to my collection, and I also have it on blu-ray because I have the trilogy set. I still watch the movie after finishing the first two films, just to conclude the story.

I bought the trilogy on blu-ray;

The one with the good movie covers, not those awful new ones.

I own what I wanted Spider-Man 3 to be, the Venom Saga of Spider-Man:TAS if that counts :awesome:

And besides that, I own Spider-Man 1 + 2 as well as season one of TSSM and the respective volumes for seasons two, but no memorabilia of the trilogy.

I have a story about buying Spider-Man 3 once though :funny:

Oh ok. I was just wondering because I've had this arguement before about the Elm Street remake in 2010 and whether or not people actually consider it part of the Nightmare legacy, since it's so hated. Although, the remake of Elm Street and Spider-man 3 are obviously different animals.

Let me put it this way. I was deeply disapointed with this film, that's perhaps what damages the viewing experience for me. I was expecting a more symbiote centric film, that what the first trailer sold me. And being a fan of the symbiote saga on the 90's cartoons, I was expecting a space shuttle crashing on the bridge, a violent Spider-Man, and the emergence of Venom as the main villian. That was me, years ago. My expectations for the film were on the roof, and I could past over it, if not for some serious plot and characterization issues.

I went from stages disapointment, depression, anger, hate ( :woot: ) and then I reached a point where I understood where the issues originated and it doesn't bother me that much. If I had the money I would buy the entire trilogy on blu-ray (if only the box-art wasn't so bad). And I would watch Spider-Man 3, because even if it has a lot (LOTS) of flaws, it isn't as bad as some people make it to be.

The thing that disappoints me the most about part 3(besides Venom and the symbiote being messed up)is that we got no score, official movie magazine and it looks like we won't see a Spidey 3.1 either. I wanted the Bluray trilogy, but it has no extras or any extra bonuses,so I've just kept my original 3 dvd's.

The UK box set (which plays on region A, B, & C blu-ray players) has a good number of special features from the DVDs. Just not all of them.

I think we had no score for Spider-Man 3 because of Danny Elfman, and we won't get a 3.1 since Raimi left Sony. I still don't get why the studio can't release an extended cut without him. So many people want it. If we could get a Daredevil director's cut...

I get the disliking for the dance scenes, and I agree, it was inappropriate (despite obviously being there to show peter becoming a jerkass.) It should have shown us the scenes of peter being violent, and overconfident; ala the photos he gave JJJ. Now, alot of SM3's problems (though it will still probably be the worst of the three) could be cleared up if those deleted scenes ever were to show up. Unfortunately, the closest we've gotten is the game version of the team up. Shame.

In a way, I did. Christopher Young sent me a promo, a 50 minute compilation of the original score.

Yup. It went on record that if he ever were to have released it, it would have to cut out all of elfman's themes, so he didn't. It's a shame, because thanks to the complete score, he wrote some truly remarkable music (and brought the themes to life more than Elfman ever did.) Also on the topic of the DD cut...I'd say moreso "Ghost Rider" which is even more annoying, as that was also sony.

I don't understand why they haven't released a Director's Cut for Spider-Man 3. I know the franchise has been rebooted, but can't they still give us that? Its not impossible... didn't we get a Richard Donnor cut of Superman 20 years later?
