Pretty much. With no director interest I don't see it happening for a long old time at best.

Exactly! Many of SM3's faults potentially could have been salvaged (though some of the things like Sandman killing Ben weren't going away). I feel very confident 3.1 would be a massive improvement over what we got. It is a shame Sony doesn't seem to care enough to show the Raimi fans the alternate cut we could have got (which had we got the 1st time maybe wouldn't have killed SM4).

^Couldnt agree more, at least some of the movies faults would be salvaged from the extended cut, and with Spiderman 2.1 being such a success I cant believe we havent got 3.1 yet. Even when Spiderman 4 went into production surely they would have been working on it? Maddening.

Even though the Raimi series is over now, why not release 3.1? Why not make MORE money off SM3 and the Raimi fanbase? I know we'd definitely all buy it! Just makes no sense why we haven't gotten yet, other than bad blood between Raimi and Sony.

It was an even bigger slap to the face that TASM got deleted scenes, barely any of which added to the plot, but SM3 hasn't gotten so much as even a BTS featurette which has a deleted scene intercut with dialogue.

Well, if the deleted scenes of TASM add little to the plot, then it's good they're deleted.

What's also dumb is that the film that didn't really need an extended cut (SM2) was the film that got one.

Yeah, SM2.1 really added just about nothing to me, not that the EC was bad, but the TC was perfect - especially in runtime. SM1 didn't really *need* a EC either, but I'd have liked to see the deleted footage for that too. SM2 is the most glaring example of "needs that deleted footage to be released." I like it, but I know that the deleted scenes would help a hell of alot. Plus, I really wanna see that alternate finale lol.

I think Sandman got shafted the most. The sequences where he tries to bribe a doctor, the alternate team-up between him and Venom, and Penny at the finale would have all added to his story.
