The Official Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 4

I wouldn't be surprised. I insisted that when Meloni was first cast it was to be Lex. Then the answers regarding him being a military man were vague and there was some mystery around who he was playing from the get go.

In could a patented Nolan surprise "reveal" that Meloni winds up being Lex toward the end of the film and him being Col Hardy was to infiltrate the military.

Who knows though.

If Meloni does wind up being Lex, I think that would be fantastic casting.

I got that same feeling. They were very mysterious about who he was playing and it was a little while after they announced that he had been cast in the film that they said he was Col. Hardy

Is it just me or is anyone kind of curious about this lexicaliber guy? I mean shoot me for saying this....but some part of me wants me to believe him.....:(

I kinda feel the same way but I mean you get people who claim to know this and claim to know that. If I knew something, I'd come in and act clueless, not like I know it all

Col. Hardy might be Man of Steel's Miranda Tate.

That's what I'm thinking...we all know she is Talia al Ghul. I honestly would be shocked if it turns out that Meloni's Col. Hardy ISN'T Lex! I mena Meloni is a badass. Just shave his head the rest of the way and BAM! I've always wanted to see a tough, muscular take no **** for no one Lex in the movies. I want to see a Lex who has Metropolis citizens thinking he is some great guy but secretly he is out to take over the world...or destroy it. I liked Spacey as Lex but he wasn't tough, better than Gene Hackman though. This movie has so much potential to do well I really don't want to see them screw up Lex again :super:

Let's see can we cleverly make a nickname combining Hardy and Lex Luthor? Hmm...

Lardy is quite good too though lol. I bet that was Relaunch Lex's nickname in High School.

Meloni is not playing Lex. He is Colonel Hardy. All there is to it. This movie is so far away people will come up with the weirdest stuff to discuss while there is no news. On one site I visit, some are convinced Amy will turn out to be Lana and not Lois. :woot: Anyway, I know Meloni wont be Lex but even so it's just as well. I don't really see a Lex in him. Besides, look at the set pics, he is not even bald. :woot: (this is a joke of course, since there is no telling that they wouldn't make Lex not bald, but Meloni is not him anyway)

Anyway, I would be perfectly content if there was NO Lex at all in the next 2-3 Superman movies, if they get made of course. There are enough great villains and storyline oppurtunites in the Superman canon without resorting to Ol'Lex, even though I'd like to see a proper version of him on the big screen, I'd rather not see even that for a while. And I dont want the likes of Braniac interacting with a mere mortal like Lex. I disslike such storylines.

when Meloni was cast they were VERY secretive about who he was...no other cast member's announcement has been shrouded in secrecy. Why only his? They didn't hide who Harry Lennix is playing. They came right out and said who his character was...I'm about 98% certain Meloni is Lex...bald or not

Well, maybe because his role is too insignificant to warrant a special announcement. I don't know if they (WB) were being secretive as much as the news sites digging deep in when getting a scoop on the fact that he may be in the movie. But this whole movie is very secretive. Like Snyder said, ´´it's like im building a stealth bomber``. Heh. I don't know, I think this whole Meloni thing to dissected when it's probably nothing. I wont say for 100% they couldn't pull something like this because I go by ´´never say never`` but I doubt it.

Although, was Meloni not asked about his part in MOS early on and the said that he is playing a General, but that if he said more he'd have to kill the person asking? Something like that is in the back of my mind, I think I read it on one of the news sites months ago, but im too lazy now to do a google search.

there are other insignificant roles as well that they didn't try to hide. Like Swanwick...how big of a role could he really play? And when Meloni was first asked about his part he wouldn't say, then he said a General, then he was announced as Col. Hardy. We all know, or we think we do, that in The Dark Knight Rises Miranda Tate is really Talia al Ghul...why wouldn't they try something like that in Man of Steel? I think they would...I think they would have Lex infiltrate the military for whatever reason that benefits him

I don't know. It would make everything too crowded. Zod and his backstory, motivations, plans. Faora and her character development (im sure there will be at least some of her otherwise she'll be Ursa v.2). Military against Superman and so on and forth. Throwing in Lex in that makes it all seem too crowded. I don't know, Im not buying it. I doubt they will avoid Lex all together, without even a mention, though that surely is a possibility (maybe WB fears even as much as mentioning him in the first movie of a very important reboot for them). This whole Meloni thing just seems a bit too far fetched for me at this point.

Nobody is saying Lex will play a major role. The idea that is being bounced around is that Lex will be all throughout the movie yet the general audience and possibly those who are interacting with him, won't know who it is until close to the end of the movie. I like that idea, I could see that working. It doesn't over crowd the movie with villains, it serves its purpose and should flow smoothly

Well I still say leave Lex totally out of it, there is no need to get him involved so early on. But all things point to that anyway, so hopefully it will be so. I would hate him being in the movie throught, pulling strings from behind, even if we dont see him. Would make him too much of a primary villain sort of thing, if the actions he does behind the curtain have an effect on the outcome. Though If its written REALLY well, I could be conent with him being in the background as well.

Sorry, I'm not interested in waiting until the supposed 4th film for Luthor. He's not just a villain; he's the most important supporting character after Lois Lane. He should be in the 2nd film in some compactly at the very least.

I guess I'm the only one who would like Lennix as Lex. I think Meloni would be good too though. I will say it is odd we have not seen him elaborate on the role what so ever. It seems more secretive than necessary. Does that indicate a sign that his role is more important than they want us to know? Possibly. Does that mean he is secretly Lex? Good question.

Showy have you heard any rumored stuff on this? Seem rather quiet on the subject.

I think it's because Lennix isn't a good choice for Lex that no one else wants him in the role.

He totally looks like Obama though :D We all know with Lex having Presidential aspirations, that would be cool ;)
