I think Mitch Pileggi would be a pretty cool choice.

i think they are gonna aim pretty high lex is superman's main villain

if they got oscar nominee michael shannon who should of a 2nd nomination for take shelter for General Zod

i expect same leauge of actor for Lex

i personally want a younger lex to differentiate from the spacey/hackman incarnations of old men

around the 28-40 age range or if they are older get someone like a jason isaacs who looks younger and not a grandpa lol

I'm still very interested in Joaquin Phoenix as Luthor for some reason.

so am i especially after seeing trailers for the master

and we all remember how great he was in gladiator

he would be outside the box casting

oh i forgot phoenix is a terrible actor

should give those 2 oscar nominations back:yay:

Oooooh, great suggestion, and no it's not because of the bald pics. :p I hadn't thought about him. I think he is a good enough actor to pull it off.

Is Luthor even confirmed to be in Man of Steel? I think they should save him for the second one or something or maybe allude to him...or am I dumb and he's crucial to Clark's origins?

really clive is very suave and charismatic he could of played bond if he was younger imo

I just don't think he gives off a smooth, sophisticated, "wealthy elite" vibe that I would like to see Lex having this time around. Like I said, he has a brutish, more working class presence to him, imo. I think that would cause his Lex Luthor to come off a bit too...I dunno, sleazy, I guess.

I think they should save Lex for the third and final film.

MoS is really about the world's fear of Superman. It would have been an ideal storyline for someone like Luthor, but it sounds like they've managed to pull it off great with Zod and the Kryptonians instead.

Luthor trying to turn everyone against Superman again and play up the fear angle again would feel like redux after MoS.

The other option is to avoid the corperate Luthor (TAS route) and the political aspects, and instead make him a brilliant scientist after ultimate knowledge. Perhaps almost a dark mirror of Superman's father Jor-El, raising some big questions about Earth's eventual fate compared to Krypton.

Agree. Owen always seems a little "thuggy" to me.

I think they shouldn't bring in Lex as the main villain for the second movie. Build him up and safe him for either Justice League or the 3rd movie.

Also, lets get a young, buff, powerful looking lex, one that looks like the Lex in all star superman and superman the animated series.

only young actor i like for it would be gosling he is young, good looking, suave and charming

and has bulked up quite a bit as of late

but i doubt he take the role but who knows his main complaint for comic movies was acting around all the cgi and how challenging that would be but lex is not a super hero

Ew.

Luthor needs to be a man, not boyish.

An actor in his 40s/50s would be ideal, especially if they go the corperate route and make Luthor a self-made tycoon.
