Paradise Lost is the story of Lucifer's and Adam's falls from God's grace.

It's generally considered one of the best literary works ever, and Cooper was cast as the main role.

ahhh...I didn't know that. I hate to say I have never read "Paradise Lost"....but I haven't.

I like Cooper...I just don't see him as Lex.

Plus he can't act for ****. Same goes for Hammer.

Hell, I'd take the Joaquin Phoenix suggestion back if these two are serious suggestions. :csad:

I guess I'd be okay with Guy Pearce as well.

dont be ridiculous armie hammer is a very solid actor:whatever:

not good for lex but besides the point

Only for David "100 Takes" Fincher. He was nothing special in J. Edgar and just plain awful in everything else I've seen him in (which is unfortunately a lot).

^Funny, I don't see you saying that to any of the other posters who don't like Hammer at all.

Your infatuation with me is getting old Project.

I have ONLY seen Hammer in two movies, The Social Network and J. Edgar. I thought he did well in both. I can't compare anything else, but I think he may be a perfect swarmy Lex (with hair)... even if he is a little too tall. However, that may play to Hammer's benefit.

For me, I'd like to see a Lex who thinks he is a Meta-human just because he is rich, debonair and powerful. Then when Superman (the big, blue Boy Scout) shows up all these people trust/love Supes because of what he can do and the ideals he stands for. This causes the downfall of Lex when he flips his lid trying to counteract that popularity and love. If there were to be a Lex in MOS or future films, I would hope it is someone with the stature and presence of Hammer. It doesn't have to be him though... He was just my suggestion.

Get the **** out of here. HIM!!!! Are YOU KIDDING!!! Yes, he is a good actor, but I would imagine that psycho thinks he is too good to be in a movie with a superhero. Plus, HE needs to be no where near a Superman film. His presence alone is too distracting.

I don't want to have to read about his craziness in conjunction with my favorite Superhero.

I guess I'd be okay with Guy Pearce as well.

:whatever: Again, I am down with the Brits, but I'd like some Americans in the SHH consideration.

You realize Joaquin Phoenix isn't actually a psycho, right? He was just playing one in real life for a mockumentary made by his brother-in-law (Casey Affleck). Once it was done filming, he was back to normal. And if the buzz on The Master is any indication, he's also back to delivering great performances.

no your the only one here who bashes anyone's casting suggestion as if they just considered channing tatum

your disregard for anyone's opinion is getting old

I would like all of this for Lex(plus his Kryptonite powersuit :o )

Agreed, as some will tell you here, I'm not a fan of his suggestion for Lex, but I would take him in a heartbeat over Hammer.
:whatever: Again, I am down with the Brits, but I'd like some Americans in the SHH consideration.
I don't even consider nationalities regarding casting unless it's relative to the character.

In the past I've suggested the actors Viggo Mortenson, Matthew Goode, Timothy Olyphant, Jon Hamm, Daniel Craig, and Anthony Stewart Head, depending on how they want to portray Lex.

really outside of those 2 what other films has he done other than the cheesy snow white film

most of his other work was bit parts in some cw shows before his big break

He's in an episode of Arrested Devolpment for two seconds. :o

He guest-starred on Veronica Mars and Reaper (a recurring role), in both of which he made me cringe. But the worst was this movie where he played a young Billy Graham. Just so terrible, imo.

i dont want him for lex and i would actually hate it so i dont know where this got all started lol

and rooney mara's performances outside of fincher are what exactly?

LOL, are you really gonna compare Rooney Mara's transformation in TGWTDT to Armie Hammer's work in...anything?

Rooney Mara did some crap projects, but she was never horrifically bad IN them. Big difference. And Reaper and Veronica Mars were NOT crap shows with bad acting in general, so the network they were on is no excuse.

I also saw Limitless. I do like Cooper, but I think his true talent lies in comedy. He's kind of like the new, blonder Vince Vaughn. The slick talker. I don't want another comedic Lex. I want a bad-ass, so he doesn't fit the role for me.
He's funny to be sure, but he's also serious when he needs to be. Again, I point to Limitless because he showed in the movie that he can tackle a serious role convincingly. As for Lex's badassery...to me his badassery comes from his mind, so as long as he's written like a badass I'm sure Cooper could play him like one.

The talliness could be a factor, but you bring up a good point. What does Lex look like in your opinion? Are there any facial characteristics you think he should have?

To be honest, I've always visualized him as someone who is very charming on the outside, but you get the distinct impression that he's really really evil and self centered. For me this guy kind of fits the bill...
I'm not sure what facial characteristics Lex should have except that they should be kinda short and even though I agree that he should be charming (to a degree) he should also look like a snake....and I just don't get that from Hammer.

you act like hammer is tatum here has has had 2 big films that you even said he was good in but your bringing up tiny roles in some cw shows to bash him

really?

it is like me bringing up home and away soap opera to bash hemsworth

Tatum > Hammer.

At least he has comedic timing. :o

And according to people who watched the soap Home and Away, Hemsworth was good in them. :yay:

^he actually was'nt people were actually surprised he improved his acting

anyways lets move on now i dont want him for this role either

lets get back to LEX

I will not debate the merits of acting with anyone because…well…I just won’t. However, if he is not good for Lex then who is in your opinion?

You realize Joaquin Phoenix isn't actually a psycho, right? He was just playing one in real life for a mockumentary made by his brother-in-law (Casey Affleck). Once it was done filming, he was back to normal. And if the buzz on The Master is any indication, he's also back to delivering great performances.

Yes, but I do believe he is crazy… I still vividly remember his call to 911 when his brother died. Plus, the Phoenix family is very strange in general. I do not think it is just happenstance that caused him to be in that Affleck fiasco. I think he truly has emotional problems. That doesn’t mean he can’t play a good Lex, but I do not think he is right…for several different reasons.
In the past I've suggested the actors Viggo Mortenson, Matthew Goode, Timothy Olyphant, Jon Hamm, Daniel Craig, and Anthony Stewart Head, depending on how they want to portray Lex.

Olyphant would be another good choice. He has that “I’m the best charisma”. I like Viggo too, but I feel he wouldn’t do it. Just doesn’t seem like his thing. Are the rest British? I’m not bashing British actors, but I just feel like U.S. actors get the shaft sometimes and there are plenty of American who could properly portray Lex Luthor.
He's funny to be sure, but he's also serious when he needs to be. Again, I point to Limitless because he showed in the movie that he can tackle a serious role convincingly. I have not seen him anything serious.

LOL..snake-like makes me immediately think of Fiennes. I want a debonair Lex…not a snake like one ala Voldemort. I want him to become snake like later

You said you saw Limitless, yes? That wasn't exactly a comedy...

Fiennes actually would make a FANTASTIC Lex!!

As for Lex being debonair, it certainly wouldn't hurt but he doesn't HAVE to be suave. That being said, you'd like an American for the role but "American" and "debonair" aren't exactly complimentary. Some Americans can pull it off but they're exceptions to the rule.

I'm going to be honest with you...

I did not see drama in Limitless. I saw....heighten crack-head drama because you are rooting for him to become a crack head on good crack. Yet, Cooper himself was like an incredibly smart Sam Jackson in Jungle Fever. There was a lot of kinetic energy that you felt the DRUG had to convey and you wanted it to keep going... Again... my opinion.

I just felt this role highlighted the energy he always displays.

Don't agree...too brooding. I need a more dynamic Lex.

:jedi I will fight you good sir!
