Matt Damon, Jude Law, Viggo Mortensen?? heck, I don't know.
I still don't think Lex is in it, or at least not a face shot of him.

Viggo Mortensen? Not a bad choice...

Nah he's defo not IMO, but it's fun to speculate for sequels :)

There are so many good actors, and I think it's easy enough to make someone look the part of Lex.

I mean, they just gotta be bald right :p

Let's think outside the box!

BRILLIANT!

I'm your Luthor
I'm your zero
Kryptonite in your dreams of glass

Well Guy Pearce was my first choice for a while now, but now that Marvel has got to him first (DAMN YOU MARVEL!!) looks like that's all over with. My second choice is Matt Damon. Those pictures of him on set for Elysium look like Lex Luthor to me, and he definitely has the attitude. He's bulky too, and Lex is usually pretty buff. I'm shooting for Damon.

Third choice is Viggo Mortensen.

Damian Lewis jr. Too young maybe. Or just wrong.

I like Matt Damon. Is Lex even in the MOS? I've not been following Superman cause their hasn't been much news.

Ralph Fiennes would make a stellar Lex Luthor.

So would Mark Strong (since he's probably done as Sinestro :()

Mark Strong has been my choice for the longest time...but that was before he played every villain under the sun. Oh well, I still think he'd be great. Same goes for Fiennes. I don't care if they're both best known as villains now. They're awesome.

Fiennes and Strong are terrific actors and villains, especially Strong. Which is why none of them will ever be Lex. Like you said. Typecasting.

Yeah. I don't care if they're typecasted already. They're freaking awesome villain material. In fact, they're the definition of the classic villain. Look at Liam Neeson, he's sort of been typecasted but he's still incredible to watch in the same roles.

Except I dont want a classic villain here. I'd like a fresh take and face for Lex. Meaning I'd rather pass on the two awesome actors mentioned above and have someone I wouldnt expect.

There, technically, is no fresh face for Lex Luthor. The character has been interpreted many ways since his birth. From sympathetic and misunderstood to *****ey and pure evil.

If you wish to go in another directon, what about Clive Owen (I was 'saving' him for Ares in a WW adaptation)?

Better, but I think I'd want to go even further as in someone you really wouldnt expect without being completely malplaced. Someone you might even be unsure of. Like Ledger as the Joker.

But then again, if they went with the very classic villain-route and gave us an older Lex casting some one like Christophe Waltz or someone who was a big name in the 90s I wouldnt object.

So so in agreement. I've been rooting for him as an outside choice for a long time :)

Here's an old manip Alex Spider made for me on request back in July last year:

Agreed. Tho if we're going with guys who have been typecast as villains, I still say Jason Isaacs is the man :)

Another choice I like, who's played a villain for Synder before is Dominic West:

I suppose there's no hope in getting Daniel Day Lewis.

He passed on Moriarty, but maybe Lex Luthor...

That is so cool.

I love Clive Owen. The guy should get bigger parts in summer blockbusters. I recently re-watched The International (immensely underrated and scary accurate movie like Ridley Scott's Body of Lies) and kicked major ass in it.

I like those two selections as well. I prefer Jason a bit more but I wouldn't mind Dominic as a villain in a Snyder film again.
