Then you're tired of the Luthor character in general.

He's always been in his 40s/50s in the comics.

not about the age it is about the look if we get an older man i dont want spacey/hackman look

i want a mark strong(48)jason isaacs(49) look where they look like they can kick your ass and look intimidating

So then stop calling it 'Old Man' Lex and say what it is.

You want Lex to be physically intimidating and in shape. That's a different story.

Though, let's face it... a great actor can be incredibly intimidating and imposing without having to rely on his physical size.

Luthor has always been more of an intellectual threat than a physical.

Clive Owen's too brutish for Lex, imo. He doesn't have the suave magnetism I imagine the person playing the role to have.

really clive is very suave and charismatic he could of played bond if he was younger imo

I just don't think he gives off a smooth, sophisticated, "wealthy elite" vibe that I would like to see Lex having this time around. Like I said, he has a brutish, more working class presence to him, imo. I think that would cause his Lex Luthor to come off a bit too...I dunno, sleazy, I guess.

Agree. Owen always seems a little "thuggy" to me.

I think Owen can play the perfect combination of suave, charming AND thuggish/intimidating.

A guy that spends his days in tailored suits and expensive cars, but came from a rough background and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty if he has to.

I'd prefer it if Lex wasn't born into money and power, but worked for it. It makes the whole 'jealousy' aspect of his dynamic with Superman better, cause here we have a guy who hasn't had to work for his power, but was just born with it. That's part of why he hates him.

When was Lex born into money and power?

He's a self-made billionaire.

He was born into the Suicide Slums. Endured poor economic conditions and a youth of crime and corruption, eventually killing his parents for their money.

He's basically 'new money.' He built an empire through his super intelligence and engineering prowess.

That's what I just said...

I was responding to flickchick85's post about him being of the 'wealthy elite' and Clive Owen seeming too working class. I'm saying that WORKS for him.

Didnt abrams script have Lex ( at first) be from Krypton, but once abrams changed it, Lex was military? It seems MOS is borrowing some elements from abrams, so maybe lex will be the twist at the end.

Perhaps Lex will be a general, steals, or somehow acquires, some kryptonian tech from zod and company during the battle, and he uses that to build his empire up in the sequels, while also building up his resentment against superman..

I would prefer the Lex that I know, one that comes from a rich family, is supersmart, thinks he is above everyone else, and builds Lexcorp by stepping on others.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if we get a twist on Lex tho. Just a thought, but we could go the whole film seeing Lex, but not knowing its him until the very end.

I'd actually prefer the villain teased for the sequel be Brainiac. All the right tools are in place to set him up.

I think general audiences really need this film to be Luthor-free, so they can reimagine Superman in a different light.

most of us are tired of the old men lex

Thats true. In STAS, Smallville, All Star Superman and other Superman comics Lex was portrayed as a charismatic "leader" alot like hitler. Also young and strong willed and powerful. I'm completely on board with Ryan Gosling playing Lex but I rather see him as Flash, so if he isn't Flash then Lex would be great.

I want someone like this

Maybe mid 30s.
compared to someone like this

I don't particularly like Lex to look old and wrinkly. We have seen that, now lets go with someone younger, more well built and someone more of the same age as Superman.

Lex should be someone the public will love.He should have looks,be Charming and be easily trusted. All the while hiding a freaky psychopath. So I chose Bradley Cooper.
If youve watched Limitless youll get my choice.

A lot of people seem to hate this guy but I agree with you. Huge guy, has charm, can be a *****e bag, and plays his role very good in that movie. I'd like him or someone similar for Lex.

You're right about Bradley Cooper. He needs to be so charismatic, he can run for president.

I don't get Cooper love in general, let alone for Lex :(

I've seen Limitless, and there was nothing that screamed Lex about him too me.

That's why I like the "idea" of him. Someone like him but not him would be my preference.

They would be... inZane not to cast him!

But he's probably too busy filming Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight 2.

Another Choice would be Joseph Morgan.Plays the villain Klaus in vampire diaries.Acts pretty much like lex -only more psychotic less restrained.
Here he is.

Fun fact-he starred with Cavill in immortals

...and The Scorpion King 4: Rise of the Battle of Warlord of Akkadia...

...and Sniper: Still Sniping...

...and Journey to Promethea 2: The Return of Wigs and Leggings...

He's a busy guy, that Billy.

Count me in as a member of Team Issacs. He is a phenomenal actor, who looks the role and is great at playing evil characters. One thing that impresses me about him is his wide range of voices and dialects. I feel like the voice that he used for Admiral Zhao in A:TLA would make for a terrific Luthor.

He just doesn't strike me as someone who could trick the world into thinking he's some kind of charming, great man. And that's the Lex Luthor I want to see this time.

For the record, I agree with you that Lex should have come from humble beginnings and worked to become "elite" but I think it's a mask he should be able to wear very convincingly. Lex would be the kind of guy who wants everyone to believe he belongs with that crowd, imo.
