I'm intrigued, but at the same time, we have to ask the question required of any frontrunner to play Lex: How does he look bald?

He almost was bald in Skyfall- not much imagination required!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Damian Lewis from Homeland as Lex. All these other suggestions people have like Craig n others I feel just would never look good completely bald. Wrongly shaped faces for it

Damian Lewis would be great. but i agree with some here that they should get a big name. i am not saying that its easy to act. but i think a good actor with experience can play LL very good in his sleep. so get a big name and don take any risks. he would be the main villain.

i would like Damian Lewis in a world where unknown actors can get the GA in the theater.

Just curious, have you guys seen that Michael Rosenbaum is wanting to play Luthor in the sequel?

Which is why MOS2 needs Denzel!!! Seriously, how awesome would Denzel be? :oldrazz:

Jude Law would be pretty cool too though. Has he ever lost his British accent for a movie though?

Amazingly awesome. He is my #1 pick for the role.

Cranston should be the new Gordon, not Luthor. I love the idea of Daniel Craig as Lex, I'd also be very happy with Mark Strong.

Yes, and I really hope it never happens. I want Smallville to have absolutely no connection to the DCCU. God that show sucked...

I like Mark Strong as an actor, but I'm against the idea of him as Lex. It just seems like uninspired casting. Strong always makes a great villain, but personally I'd like to see him play against type at this point.

You could argue that Strong was the best thing about Green Lantern and that we never really saw him as a villain in that film, so doesn't he deserve the chance to play an equivalent arch-nemesis role in a better film? But I don't want Lex to be such an obvious villain. I know Strong could give him subtlety, but still, as soon as a I see Mark Strong in a role my first assumption is "villain."

My preference is for Luthor to have a bit more of an attractive allure. I think it would be intriguing to have Lex portray himself as more of a heroic type to the people of Metropolis, helping repair the damage that this "alien" caused and earning their goodwill. Superman would know what Lex was really like, but this would make it that much harder for him to convince the public that he, not Lex, was the real hero.

In that regard, I would want Lex Luthor in MOS 2 to be handsome and charismatic - and, this should go without saying, confidently rocking the bald look.

Now, when it comes to who would portray this magnetic figure? Damned if I know. I did think Denzel Washington was at least a more interesting choice than Strong. Daniel Craig would probably be good, but how's his American accent?

I still feel like there's some out-of-left-field casting choice out there that will initially surprise us and then come to seem brilliant in retrospect (and yes, I am aware this would perfectly mimic what happened with Heath Ledger as the Joker :hoboj:).

C'mon! Maybe this'll convince you.

If they were using Hackman's Luthor as inspiration. Samberg could totally pull off a darker Luthor that can have intellectual and philosophical, Ian Fleming James Bond-esque conversations with Superman.
:hehe:

But, Bill Hader as a bald guy is awesome.

You know, I actually think he could, if that's what they were going for. But I want to see a corporate Lex totally removed from the Silver Age/Gene Hackman/Kevin Spacey interpretations.

I agree with every point here. Mark Strong seems too much of an easy and safe choice to go with. It's sort of similar to how people here want Jane Levy for Mary-Jane Watson. I also want a bold A-list casting choice like how we got Ledger for the Joker. Didn't they say that they already want someone of Russell Crowe's/Kevin Costner's tier?
