I did a quick search of the forum. Seems like none suggested Camilla Belle yet. How can this be?

Unfortunately Camilla is more famous for attending the opening of an envelope then she is for her "acting". Beautiful girl but makes a better model then actress.

I think I've just seen Camilla Belle in a Brazilian movie, where she speaks portuguese (she's half Brazilian). She has a classic beauty, looks like Jane Russell (only the face, she was very skinny the last time I saw photos of her).

Speaking on Brazilians...I don't like Alice Braga, but I have to admitt she was pretty Lois Lane type in The Rite.

I agree with everything you said, mainly as you support my suggestion of Michelle Monaghan lol! But I also think they really need to avoid casting an actress who is sexy/hot/drop dead gorgeous. Lois Lane isn't a Megan Fox/Angelina Jolie type. I've always thought of Lois as someone who IS attactive, but is someone who focuses on her career rather then her appearance and therefore this should be reflected by casting an actress who - although attractive - is not distractingly so. I think Olivia is TOO exotic and TOO sexy. She's not the kind of woman you see walking down the street everyday and therefore she is NOT relatable. We're casting Lois Lane here, NOT Lara Croft.

It seems Michelle's age to some is a factor (predictably!) I personally think she looks very young for her age as opposed to Olivia Wilde who is the oldest looking 26 year old I've ever seen. If Olivia was cast I wouldn't be totally devestated as I'm sure they will choose who they believe is BEST for the part. But I will have my doubts.

And yes, I do hope that photos will sway opinion lol!

I'm gonna have to assume you're thinking of the wrong woman, as I think she easily has one of the best looks for the role.










Exactly the right mix of beauty, edginess, and innate softness that I imagine a lot of guys would find very charming. Her age is still a minor concern for me in carrying a franchise, but as for the here-and-now I think she's got little competition in way of acting merit and compatibility for the role.

i don't care for Michelle Monaghan. i think she's extremely cute, but i haven't seen her in anything that would convince me that she can convey the spunk and spontaneity that Lois has, while still maintaining a womanly presence. she also doesn't look like a woman in her late 20's, which is why i believe they're aiming for. she certainly doesn't look mid 30's but she doesn't look like a 20 something year old either.

so if she's cast, i'd have to see the movie to really judge her qualities...but based off what i know, and comparing her to other possibles, i'd have to say "no thanks". i certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed, but there are better choices for Lois Lane...

Never seen "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"? I would find it surprising if her performance in that didn't convince anyone she's fully capable of playing the spunky and tough woman. I'd argue that film alone has shown she's more fitting than any of the other candidates here, as she actually has something in her resume that displays key traits of Lois. Her naturally cute vibe would work to push through a hardened performance. Not unlike Hathaway, a similarly harmless girl who's talents can reach towards the serious mold.

I've always imagined the key to a successful Lois is an actress who can perfectly imitate the arrogance and go-getter attitude, but whose innate softness as a person also allows an anchor to that overlooked kindness and heart that Lois has. To me that's the biggest difference in the world to just getting a b----y Lois, and one that is charmingly obscene. Which no doubt explains why I've gravitated towards the likes of Anne Hathaway and Alison Brie for this role.

I liked her performance, but there is something so incredibly dead in her eyes in spite of that role. I won't doubt her talent, but she seems incapable of shaking the cold vibe she gives off. It's why I can't ever support her for this role. It's important for me to look in Lois' eyes and immediately see that fire and excitement.
