Hey all, I got a question about making automatic actions to a whole bunch of picture files. I don't know if this has anything to do with AppleScript or Automator, or whatever, I just know absolutely zilch about it.

Anyway, basically I just downloaded this old comic. And because of the old scan, the black levels and color are just WAY off. So for the time being, I've just "corrected" the covers and such so it looks much cleaner and closer to what the original looked like. The inside pages are pretty much the same way, but I'm not about to manually alter literally thousands of pages.

But, I've found out that in Photoshop, using the "auto level" and "auto color" functions are satisfactory to what I want, and is exponentially quicker.

What I want to know is, is it possible to set up some sort of automatic function and apply it to a folder with the picture files? So that it basically does this:

Open in PS > Auto Level > Auto Color > Save > Close ---- repeat

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don't have PS in front of me, but there is a way to record a series of commands and apply it to a folder of files. PS help ought to be able to tell you how to do it. I believe it's called a Batch Command.

Is there anyway to just take the audio portion of a Youtube clip, and convert it into an MP3 file, so you can save it to Itunes?

In PS you could set up an Action but idk if you can apply it to more then one photo. You can try though =]

Yes, you can set up Batch Command actions to process entire folders of pictures. Been a long time since I've done it, though. If you Google for it, you can find some tutorials on it, though, I'm sure.

Yes, but you need an application like Wiretap or Audio Hijack to do it. Or, you could save the .flv file using something like VideoDownloader in Firefox and then convert it using Quicktime Pro.

Appreciate it.
Are these applications available online, or do i have to purchase them?

I have Firefox. Where is VideoDownloader?

Thanks, just tried it out. Pretty painless, to my surprise. I have a similar question. What if I want to do something similar to this batch command, but it doesn't rely on PS? Is that where Automator comes in?

I really like how PS gives you the option of "recording" your actions. Hopefully something akin to that is available on the operating system.

Still having Internet issues. >.<; My ISP has no idea what to do, and they literally have jumped me all over their inner workings for the last few weeks.

The updates are:

Firefox: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time if it slows up to nothing I can just restart it and it works fine.

AIM: Not working at all either on it's own, through iChat or Adium.

Youtube: I get this http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/twylight/Picture5.png

And the last straw >.<;;;
I went to Meebo tonight to get on AIM and I got this:

I'm at my wits end...Firefox has been uninstalled and re-installed. My computer is totally updated....and if it has to do with my internet connection I'm hitting a brick wall -literally-.

I have this problem too. Just refresh or restart Firefox.

Anyone know if iKlear is any good cause I need something to clean my brand new iMac.

Ok, so my comp shut down while I had a word document open. I hadnt saved in a while and lost about a page of work. I know it autosaved before I lost the page so is there any way to get that back?

Folks, I'm looking for a free Mac program that will convert an MKV to VOB. Anyone know of anything available? Thanks!

Is there any program out there that can run Windows apps seamlessly with Leopard, WITHOUT having to install a Windows OS?

Assuming it can't, if I use something like VMware Fusion to install Vista, does it actually install the 7 or so gigs it requires on a fresh install as if it was a Windows machine, onto my Mac?

I don't think you need a Windows OS for Wine or Crossover. (I know you don't need one for Crossover.) But neither is a replacement for the OS yet.

And if VMware is like Parallels or BootCamp, you will need the same amount of space you would give a regular Vista install on a PC because you're basically creating a virtual hard drive on your mac, and the virtual PC will use that hard drive.

Oh, no I'm not interested in an OS replacement at all. I basically just need it to run some Windows apps, like 3 or 4 at most. One in particular is a N64 emulator, since the ones on the Mac aren't really good imo.

Do you have any specific recommendation between Wine or Crossover? Whether it be performance or compatibility issues?

I think Crossover uses Wine, and just puts an easy interface on it. And it's not free, but it might be worth it. I couldn't get Wine to work the last time I tried it.

Let's just say money isn't an issue here. I'll give Crossover a look then. Hopefully it won't be too hard, I just need something painfully easy to run the apps.

Crossover didn't really work for me either, but that was about a year ago. Since it and Wine have been developed a lot since then, it should be better. Let me know, I might try out a trial version too.

FYI. During Steve Job's Keynote address Monday at the WWDC, not only is he expected to announce the new version of the iPhone...but also the new version of OS X.

OS X 10.6, reportedly referred to as 'Snow Leopard', is apparently due out some time next year, and will be released to developers at or after the conference. It will also be the first Mac OS to exclusively run on Intel machines. So, if you're still using a PowerPC computer, no 10.6 for you.

I can't imagine what changes Apple's come up with to warrant a new OS, but I'm excited to see what they've done. And I'm a little angry that I won't be getting it seeing as how I just bought Leopard earlier this year.

So..should I wait till next year to upgrade my OS? I admit to being a bit attached to Tiger as it's the OS I learned how to navigate around on a Mac. Mostly money has kept me from getting Leopard, but if there's a new one out next year I might wait.....

-Clears out the cobwebs-

So, I'm looking at buying a desktop, but understand that they're probably going to receive an overhaul in the near future. Does anyone have any specific information regarding that?

No, and anyone who claims they know what Apple is going to do with their new hardware releases is a liar, a crack addict or completely delusional.

Lol, of course. When I said specific I meant "Apple Specific" as in, what are most of the rumor sites saying the range is. I'm more looking to see if I should hold off for a while to by one, which I might have to do due to financial strains anyway.

I fell into the trap once of vowing not to buy a PowerBook until the new ones came out. The rumor sites kept saying that it was just a month away or so. Eight months passed before they finally released their new model and I was able to get my new PB. The advice I always give people about buying Apple hardware is, if you need it right now and have the money, then get it and be done with it. Chasing rumors, waiting for the latest and greates will just bring you grief. The ONLY indicator I have ever seen that's SORT OF an indicator that they might be releasing something new at some point in the near future is when channel availability of certain models becomes scarce. Even then, I've seen months pass before a new model is released. I haven't seen any rumors about desktops, lately, but I haven't been looking that closely, either. Are you thinking PowerMac or iMac?
