EA The Official Mass Effect Thread - Part 2

Yeah I love the beginning too. Right now I just arrived at the Citadel but I had to stop because I’m out of town for two weeks. So I’ll have to continue playing when I get back.
I was hooked from that moment. Shame we can’t see more of Nihlus. Enjoy when you get back mate!

Well I got my copy yesterday and played for about 3 hours. Gotta say the changes they made to Mass Effect 1 have really elevated this game. Gameplay and shooting is so smooth now. And it looks fantastic too. They did a damn good job.

Awesome to hear! Looks like they fixed what was most needed.

I'll tell you what though, it never fails to surprise me how stark ME1's pacing is near the beginning. The game starts off with shooting and action, then once you reach the Citadel. It's talking and walking, and a bunch of small side quests.

It doesn't bother me, I'm use to it and love the first ME. But imagine to new comers it will be a shock. Could turn away new players.

I had a 50 buck gift card that i forgot i had so i used it and i only paid 13 after taxes did not play it yet but it is in my soon as possible pile lol

My older brother has never played Mass Effect but KOTOR is his favourite game, so I'm probably going to buy this pretty soon, 1st of all to relive the experience, and 2nd, introduce him to one of, if not the best game trilogy of all time.

Awesome. Hope he enjoys it.

Just a heads up for any new comers or if you played the game before and forgot.

The mission titled Geth Incursion has you fly to several planets destroying Geth outposts. One of the planets, Maji, has two Geth outposts, one is unmarked. I totally forgot this when I replayed and thought the game glitched. But it was fine.

I haven’t played the games before, but based on the rave reviews and the launch of this collection I picked it up the other day. I’ll keep you posted as to my thoughts.

Nice. You won’t be disappointed.

I have the specter gear glitch where none of the stuff unlocked for me after I became a specter. The workaround for that, supposedly, is creating a save before you were made a specter and do the scene again where the counsel makes you one and it fixes it, but of course I forgot to do that so I am ****ed.:wall:

Picked this up a few days ago, and I’m playing through the first one. I absolutely love ME1, one of my favorite games of all time. But man, if there is one pitfall of this one it’s the fact that they made Kaiden incredibly boring, and Ashley extremely unlikeable. The emotional impact of having to make “that” decision is just not there. If I had to make a choice between Garrus or Wrex, that’s something that would eat me up.

Ended up getting it and damn does ME1 look amazing on my PC lol

That's actually pretty characteristic of Bioware games, in my experience. There's usually an introductory sequence, typically action oriented, that is quite direct and fast paced. . . and then after its done? Giant sprawl of exploration and options, where you could potentially go hours without a significant fight.

Improvements I very much appreciate

Putting the ME2 melee into ME1. Using circle to take fools out with a forearm is way more satisfying than it happening automatically if I got too close to an enemy (and makes it way easier to do that Feros infected colonist mission).

Putting the ME3 casual wear into ME2 (I can now wear an N7 hoodie instead of a Cerberus uniform).

I started playing on friday and the entire weekend I've been powering through it. Just started ME2 and ready to remember everything I've forgotten

I'm not looking forward to experience the crappy endings for 3 though. Still hate them to this day lol

I’m approaching the end of ME1 and I’m loving it. It looks like how my brain remembers it looking, which probably means it looks way better. The gameplay to 1 is still clunky though, but it does get better the more powerful you get.
I’m really looking forward to starting ME2 again.

Honestly wish BioWare would've allowed FemShep to Romance Miranda and Jack like they originally wanted, I think FemShep has too few Female romance options.

I also wish Miranda's romance was as fleshed out as Liara, I forgot how much I love Miranda.

There's already a mod for same-sex romances but it's only for Male Shepard for now. Modders are currently working on restoring cut content on the Legendary Edition (how ironic).

Liara was a fan favorite and considered the "default" love interest IIRC. It's painfully obvious Bioware wanted players to romance her. You get so many moments with her. Any other love interest lacks those.

It's so dumb cause every romance should've gotten the same moments but I'm biased cause Miranda is my gal lol

I remain somewhat baffled at how they were apparently surprised that people would want to romance Tali. She's a wrench wench with a spunky personality, *of course* people would want a romance option!

With the renewed interest in Mass Effect and with so many streaming services looking for their next epic show, I'm surprised no one has tried to make Mass Effect a big budget Sci Fi show.

It has all the material you need for at least 5 seasons with amazing characters, and a chance to have an iconic female lead (I'd have the series lead be a FemShep). Hell you can bring back the voice actors for the aliens since they'd all be CGI anyway.

Boggles my mind.

I mean, I'd put it down as one half "Video games aren't real art, why would we need to use one of them as a source", one half "Wow, we don't want our show to have the baggage of ME3". I do agree that its good source material to work with, but I'm not surprised no one touched it.
