EA The Official Mass Effect Thread - Part 2

I think the thing that I remember most vividly and with the most animosity about Andromeda is the unavoidable extremely excessive fast traveling and backtracking. It may not be as bad as Dragon Age 2, but it sure as **** tried to be.

Gameplay wise what annoyed me so much with Andromeda was that stupid crafting system. It was tedious and painful. Mass Effect 3 had it right. Buy weapons and custom parts, upgrade damage, weight, ammo, etc. All that was missing was custom paint jobs and decals.

I have no idea what happened with andromeda. All style and no substance.

I hope they give it another proper go soon

I would be keen. Hopefully they choose the proper shepherd and not men shep

I think the last two comments highlight exactly my problem with a Mass Effect adaptation. Whatever they do, one group of ME fans is gonna end up jilted haha

Maybe we need 2 Sheps then. They can even romance each other. :cwink:

The male shep has the statistics in his side. More players simply played as the male shep. However your point still stands. There's also all the other choices in the series. Really making a tv series on ME sounds like a bad idea.

But if they're really gonna go with this. Then I say look at the numbers. If the overwhelming majority played as male Shepard, cast a male Shepard. If the majority let Ashley live, choose Kaiden as the one who stays.

Honestly, I'd hate if they based it on statistics. I'd rather the showrunner/lead creative just go with their personal faves and version of things. Like if I'm going to watch a live action version of someone else's ME run through, I want it to at least feel authentic and not made by committee.

But also, I really doubt we'd get a series that follows the beats of the trilogy. I think far more likely to be new stories etc with familiar faces and possibly still teasing Reapers as the looming threat they build towards

I'd also be open to copying from Andromeda a bit, and have two sibling Shepards. Make male Shep paragon, Femshep Renegade.

TBH this is something I'm not going to have any interest in until I see who's actually attached to write it. It's the kind of show I'd be all about if a particular creative had a really strong pitch... Otherwise, if it's gonna be one of those "Secure the franchise rights first, then slap a showrunner on it" type deals, hard pass.

I played a BroShep but have zero problems with a FemShep. I really don't care what choices they make for a TV show as long as they make choices that make sense within the narrative, and I think this binary paragon/renegade aspect should be canned for the show. Shep should just react to situations as they are written to be.

I finally picked up and finished Andromeda and it wasn't bad, just felt like a big missed opportunity, but I do like how they handled the "morality aspect".

So I don't care if ME fans get alienated over a gender or who lives between Ashley and Kaidan, I just hope it makes sense for the character they establish Shepard to be. It's like watching someone else's playthrough and getting mad, makes no sense.

Id rather they just make an original show set in the ME universe. I dont need an inferior retelling of Shepherd's story.

Depends on who the writer is but that's the problem that constantly plagues any video game adaptation.

I’m pretty positive they’re going to adapt the main Mass Effect story, because otherwise they would just lift the dynamics off the OG characters, and put them on new ones, so they may as well just adapt the arc from the game and expand upon it. Although I certainly wouldn’t be against any story in this universe because it’s just such great lore.

Heard some rumours that this could be on EA Access (and by extension Game Pass) soon. I would love it if so.

Oh cool! We’re so overdue for another one.

I think the trick is, focus on the story not the technical stuff. Like if they got a huge profile science fiction writer to help with the scripting, that’s more interesting than technical gibberish about slightly shinier pebbles
