Bloated wasn't the problem. Emptiness was. It had 135 hours of open world with approx 10 hours of campaign and well written and voiced side objectives. It was a single player MMO. And it was incredibly lifeless and boring because of it.
well at least people that complain about "grinding" got what they wanted in a way of sorts. ehhhhh...

That's what all those thing's that attack you in the wilderness of these game were supposed to be for . to keep plyer busy while you see how vast the land is and explore.

With out there something new to complain about. they just game maker need to find way to make not repetitive still .

I think they took the complaints about linearity and length in the second game and took it too far in the other direction. So instead of having a very tight, truncated action RPG you get a single-player MMO.

There's a video in the article it';s self as well below

Just under a year ago, a rumor based on a survey for Mass Effect: Andromeda suggested that the game would have a "seamless open-world galaxy, rich with discovery." Now, a developer working on Mass Effect: Andromeda wants to clear that rumor up.

"I definitely wouldn't call Andromeda an open-world game," said producer Michael Gamble to OXM (via GamesRadar). Instead of being an open-world game, it's an 'exploration-based game' - well at least that's what the developers call it.

Basically, it's going to be like previous Mass Effect games, which makes sense... because it's a Mass Effect game.
"We like to use the term 'exploration-based game.' You still have the concept of tight story deliverance and all the great things you come to expect with Mass Effect. The layer on top of that is a layer of exploration. Sometimes that happens in open spaces, but not always. You can cruise around some of these planets in the Nomad, but it's not the traditional sandbox-type game."
Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

I'm getting a feeling they've been listening to all of the "We want Star Trek" Mass Effect fans that last couple of years.

I mean, I'm sure we'll be shooting plenty of aliens, and humans, in the face. But, the idea of being an explorer seems like the right avenue to go down.

That looked so awesome. I actually decided to go ahead and build a gaming pc, just waiting for all the parts to arrive. Can't wait to play this game on it.

It looks pretty fantastic to me. Such an improvement in terms of abilities and gameplay.

Maybe my favourite video so far!

Couldn't agree more. This is where it looks like the game has improved most. And much greater freedom with abilities and availability of weapons which I really wanted in the previous games.

Does this mean I can make a character that is equal parts soldier, engineer, and biotic? I am confused about what the parameters regarding the abilities of the main character really are in terms of how I can create my build.

Think Skyrim.

Character development over character class.

Still looks too much like Destiny for my tastes. It's like they took the ME3 multiplayer mechanics and promoted the 3 power philosophy for Andromeda's campaign.

And I'm still mad there isn't any Tech Armor. Been rolling Sentinel/Medic since the first game.

That's what it looks like to me and if so that would be exactly what I want. I never want to play as a soldier again but I want access to all the weapons. On top of that I want access to both tech and biotic abilities being able to pick and choose certain ones while dumping others, rather than being stuck wholly into one class.

awesome vid!!

some observations:

- Looks like there's a badass new "biotic teleport" move. I wonder if this is an actual ability or tied to the dodge/evade button. I hope it's the latter, and from the vid, it didn't look like any of the abilities were activated when the character teleported.

- Looks like there's a cool Push/Pull combo to channel your inner Force Unleashed and force (I mean biotic) fling your enemies around the battlefield.

- Only 3 abilities can be mapped at one time. But, they say we can save "favorite loadouts" to change on the fly. There are 4 favorite loadouts you can save, so I wonder if those will be mapped to the Dpad for quick access.

- Saw some new Biotic skills Lance and Annihilation, but didn't see some classics like Reave and Slam. I wonder if those can be unlocked or learned or if they simply didn't show us all the available skills.

New gameplay video was excellent. If they release more videos like this on a weekly basis, till release, my hype will increase. I really really really hope there's a set of Remnant inspired armor to go with the weapons. I love a good matching set.

Great to finally see more gameplay footage. Gameplay looks vastly improved and more fluid and environments look stunning and varied.

An introduction to weapons and skills.

ME-Andromeda-Gameplay-Series-1.jpg

Electronic Arts and BioWare have released the first in a new series of Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay videos. This one is focused on combat—specifically weapons and skills.

Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s action is built around fluid, fast-paced combat. It promises freedom of movement with the use of a jump jet that allows you to jump, evade, and hover while fighting. There’s also a new dynamic cover system that allows you to seamlessly use almost anything, including your own vehicle, for cover. This level of freedom allows you to approach the battle in your own style.

There are four categories of guns in Mass Effect: Andromeda—pistols, shotguns, sniper rifles, and assault rifles—plus a range of melee weapons. All guns are available to every player without class restrictions. Guns and gear fall into three technology types based on where the technology originates.

  • Milky Way weapons are high-impact weapons that typically use physical projectile ammunition, and are great against most non-shielded targets.
  • Remnant weapons typically use beams, have a high rate of fire, and are extremely accurate. They never run out of ammo, but you’ll have to wait for your gun to cool down from time to time.
  • Helius weapons are technology from civilizations that live in the Helius cluster of Andromeda. They’re generally plasma-based, meaning they’re slower speed, but benefit from heat-seeking technology. Some are charge-based, dealing more damage the longer it’s charged.
Melee weapons vary in damage and speed. Hard-hitting hammers deal great damage, while lightning-fast shivs or swords allow you to get in and out of harm’s way at maximum speed and precision.

In addition to weapons, you can also develop skills and abilities. Like weapons, all skills are available to every player without class restrictions. Each of the three main skill categories is designed to facilitate a certain style of play.

  • Combat skills are good if you’re focusing on weapons, gear, and becoming the ultimate soldier. These skills focus on improving weapon damage and accuracy, as well as giving you the ability to use flat cannons, grenades, trip mines, and more.

  • Tech skills allow you to equip your Pathfinder with more experimental weaponry, or focus on strategic improvements for you and your squad, like Cryobeam, Flamethrower, Invasion, and Energy Drain. You can also deploy your own assault turret.

  • Biotics skills—by controlling dark energy, your Pathfinder can harness the power of mass and gravity. Biotics skills like Pull and Throw allow you to use your enemies as a shield, or even a weapon. Abilities like Annihilation Shield or Singularity can disrupt and damage anyone or anything caught in their grip.
Each skill can be upgraded to become stronger and more effective, and each offers choices when upgrading, allowing you to customize your upgrades.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is due out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 21 in North America and March 23 in Europe.

your on the money. they want to have some thing to show us later on & how they improved on that. they won't show us absolutely every thing in one video especially with those people from the games fan base on the web that always claim they want more and are bored when they don't hear new news when it's closer to release time.

It's just how things are these days .
