I read a thor story where thor fights hulk and absolutely hands hulk his arse, hulk stops fighting and refuses to fight thor until thor throws away the hammer

hulk - 'hammer strong, not thor, throw away hammer and hulk will show you'

thor refuses. hulk then grabs a female bystander and threatens to crush her unless thor throws away the hammer. thor throws the hammer miles away so it will take a good long while to return, then hulk absolutely lays the smack down on thor. the hammer returns and hulk refuses to fight thor again.

an absolutely brilliant issue which shows the pure power of mjolnir.

I don't mind thor written in that manner, seriously strong sans hammer but unbeatable with the hammer. hulk vs p****d me off because hulk lays the smack down on thor WITH the hammer which is bull****

I think Thor should lose his magical and weather control powers without Mjolnir. He should still be strong and durable without it.

It still bugs me that so few people know that. I'd hate to see the movie further promote the lie that Thor himself is somehow a god in name only and all of his divine control of the weather comes solely from Mjolnir.

Had a long drawn out "discussion" with a guy who CLAIMED to have helped write the old 80's hand book that had many errors.
ONE he couldn't and would proove he did write them and two we showed him all kinds of proof that the weather control belongs to THOR and not Mjolnir, and he still wouldn't back off.

It says it CLEARLY on the HAMMER itself "the power of THOR", not the "power of MJOLNIR".

The ONLY time you can technically say it's Mjolnir's power is when someone who is WORTHY is Granted Thor's power who is NOT Thor himself.

No question about it, Thor is extremely powerful to say the least. But we musn't forget the power of the mighty Mjolnir.

I miss the days when Mjolnir could shoot pretty much any kind of energy. They seem to have limited it to lightning now, which works thematically for Thor, but it was cool that he could use Mjolnir to generate crazy stuff like "anti-force" and use it to literally suck mystical energy away from others (as in one of his fights with the Juggernaut).

way back in the day stan lee made it so mjolnir would tingle/shake when thor was in danger. this was quickly removed probably because it mimicked spidey's 'spider sense' too closey

only recently found out thor could use his hammer to travel back in time*. I think its obvious why THAT power was removed. talk about writing yourself into a corner stan.




*the power to warp between realities still remains in the hammer though.
